Schooled in Schouler - Jammy Dress Redo

Brain fog strikes again! I was all ready to upload this morning's photos to the computer for editing, and then...I deleted them all. What? Why? It's all a fog. I've been schooled...by brain fog.
Because I SUFFER for fashion, I sighed dramatically and said to Vizzini, "Well, it looks like I'm getting dressed again."

  • Dress - Proenza Schouler for Barney's, thrifted; last worn here in May 2023 with yesterday's sandals
  • Sandals - Sorel; last seen here in May for Nancy - peep-toes! - with a tunic and leggings

I had a good hair day, and my make-up was still on (although you're getting my house-bra).
I'm still feeling a little bit stuffy from whatever blurg I had last week - I blame that.

Ahem, back to the dress, which is by Proenza Schouler, one of those very Fancy and Expensive designers.
According to this Vogue India article here (link 'cause I love), here's how you say their name:

Correct pronunciation: pro-enza SKOO-ler (a hard 'c' sound and a silent 'h'). The 'ch' is pronounced similarly to the 'ch' in 'school'.

I refer to that list regularly - I don't want to sound like an uncouth lout for not knowing how to pronounce Fashion Names when I'm talking about my cool clothes.
This is a 100% silk dress (even the lining), and if your eyes are getting a little buggy from the pattern, it's two different contrast prints that are flipped (detail pics here from when I bought it).

Incognito. It's gorgeous to wear, very cool and flowy, and so very welcome on another hot day - I wore a camisole and sporty shorts underneath.
I've worn it 7 times since I bought it four years ago for $22.95. I'm getting good cost-per-wear!

The stuff:
Comfy sandals - but I always wear sneakers to walk to and from work. These are good summer shoes.

Matchy bling:
"Delicate jewelry," I thought last night as I got all the pieces ready for the morning. *snort* This is delicate for me!

  • Red bracelet - vintage mall
  • Pendant - Miracle, consignment
  • Red enamel/silver ring - antique shop, Sidney
  • Silver/kyanite ring - consignment
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Earrings - Fossil, thrifted

  2. I love two different prints in a dress that are a bit the same but not quite. Somehow it feels so in balance!

  4. That Proenza Schouler (thanks for the pronunciation tips!) is gorgeous and so is that Miracle pendant! Kudos for the redo, not sure if I would have been up to it! xxx

  5. Am 8 days behind on my daily dose of reading your blog! Full house of family, all wonderful, though time for my own pursuits disappears to be replaced by spending time with sons, partners and grands! Yet, I've missed my daily dose. :-)

I love this outfit, in particular how it hangs away from your body (so nice for hot days), a neckline perfect for a necklace of substance, and those sandal-shoes!

Now off to read the next post! Cheers, Laurie
