Etro Swirls and Gone Gold

Would you look at that - another Jammy Dress! It's like I have a closet full of them...
I am always happy when a long-time favourite still rings my bell, many years later.

  • Dress - Etro, vintage 90s, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in May 2023 with a yellow cardi to the theatre
  • Shoes - Karl Lagerfeld; last seen here (2nd outfit) in June for L's birthday party
  • Blazer (below) - InWear; last worn here in June over another Jammy Dress

This gorgeous silk jersey dress is by Fancy Designer brand Etro, known for their fantastic prints, especially featuring paisleys.
I've had it for 8 years, and worn it 13 times now - I bought it here in 2016 for a whopping $6.00, honest. A similar dress at Etro now would cost $1,800.00-2,000.00.

The cut of this dress is wild - I've never seen anything like it. A blurry pic from when I bought it, and first marveled at its weirdness:
It's all one piece of fabric on one side!

I usually default to wrapping it around myself, which pulls up one of the outer layers - it's two layers of the softest jersey.
I always match my shoes to it, as well as a cami.

The pattern is so swirly!
It has tiny "Etro" signatures all over, a nice detail.

Incognito.
I wore the blazer for half of the day due to chilly AC in the office.

The stuff:
Every year, I moan about how these leather flats are getting worn out, but they are still hanging on.

Missing gold bling:
My hands were puffy from the heat when I bought rings on the weekend - at normal temperatures, the gold one was too big even for my thumb (I'm still considering the other, let's not be hasty). Colleague Carol thought her daughter would like it, so off it goes to a new home.

  • Silk scarf - Kenzo, vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Eelskin bangle - vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Cuff - Loren Hope, consignment, Sidney
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Leaf brooch - Grandma W's, vintage 80s
  • Ear-balls - Dior, consignment
  • Gold ring (not shown) - vintage fair; purchased here for $2.50

  1. Oh yes, that is a JAMMY dress! Everything about it is fabulous and I adore the shoes too- Karl Lagerfeld is great! I always regret not buying this top of his I saw on Asos an age ago. It was white and had a pleated white chiffon capelet. I used to go and stare at it daily but it was expensive! Regret not buying it!x

  2. Jammy dress = comfy dress, and this dress definitely fits that equation. I appreciate the colors of the dress and that there are multiple possibilities for matching with accessories.

  3. What a gorgeous dress! The blue and yellow pattern is so lovely. The yellow in the pattern matches your yellow shoes perfectly. You look phenomenal in this.

  4. Love that dress with the yellow ballerinas under it! I have often that I wear rings but in the evening have to take them off . So annoying.

  5. Loving the funky, swirly pattern of the Etro dress, and the yellow flats, orange blazer and Kenzo scarf are absolutely perfect with it! xxx
