Just a Green Dress

This streak of warm weather means I'm just zooming through all my summer dresses. Here's another one-and-done easy dress. It's not just a green dress.
It's a weird-looking thing, but as you may have gathered by now, I'm drawn to the weird and wonderful.

  • Dress - Etro, consignment; last worn here in May 2021 for my first vaccination shot
  • Shoes - Pegabo, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) in May for a shop and dinner

The neckline and trim are an olive-ish-green almost grey satin, and the shoulders are kitten-soft silk velvet.
The whole dress is silk, with a touch of viscose. The texture is micropleated - it's very touchable.

The neckline is twisted on purpose.
I like the abstract, nearly optic print.

No pockets but I'll forgive it, since it's such a nice fit.
It was perfect for the first wearing of my new belt, as the dress has a big ol' horizontal seam at the waist that I don't like. Must cover it!

Masked up - lots of folks in the office today. Nearly 20!
It continues to be mostly empty, though.

Incognito. I sunblocked my arms, and used the scarf to cover my neck.
Bare legs! I'm wearing little black shorts underneath, and these shoes are comfy enough for bare feet.

Accoutrements:
This scarf is like wearing a hug - it's so soft.

  • Scarf - Lanvin, vintage 80s, vintage mall
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
I bought the shoes in August 2020, thinking they would be worn to death within a year. Instead, I've only worn them a couple of times per season. That one less worked day a week impacts how many times I wear everything (plus, I have a lot of shoes, and they all need love).

Brutalist bling:
As noted, first wearing of this belt - some of the lining started crumbling, so I trimmed it off. The bulk of it is leather so it's not going to rip - it's just cheap lining. It was a very comfy belt to wear.

  • Belt - Sangiorgio, consignment; purchased here for $20.00
  • Leather cuff - Rimanchik, thrifted
  • Metal cuff - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Silver/aventurine ring - consignment
  • Silver/malachite ring - consignment
  • Mismatched gold hoops - gifts from L
  • Necklace - Robert Larin, vintage 70s, vintage mall, gift from L

I need more gold Brutalist jewelry (*cough*hint to L for my birthday*cough*) to augment the necklace and belt. Earrings!

  2. Oooh, Sheila, never mind Vizzini, I want to stroke your dress!! It sounds delectable!! It looks gorgeous too!
I like the way you styled it- great belt!
    Hope L gets the hint!
It must be strange having lots of workers in after so long!

    1. How something feels is really important to me - silk is one of the softest fabrics out there, and I love it in my clothes. Thank you so much, Kezzie.

Ha, I'm sure he will - he catches up on my blog on the weekend.

It's so odd - I've gotten used to the quiet!

    1. Thank you, Vix! Hee, I hope so - it's pretty hard to find, but he's very good at picking out jewelry for me.

  4. That is a beautiful dress on you and I love the belt and statement necklace with it! :) It's interesting when I do venture into the office how empty it looks with so few people around - I'm not sure if it will ever return to pre-pandemic numbers, but I guess it might get busier after winter - who knows!

I like how you have such a fabulous selection of jammy dresses - some of my go-to dresses could actually be pyjamas I fear, so basic, haha!

    1. "Who knows?" perfectly sums it up, Mica! We thought people would come back in 2020...then 2021...and now we're more than halfway through 2022...

For me, jammy dresses aren't just basic. They need to be either a classic, easy-to-match print, or a solid colour that goes with a lot in my closet. They need pockets and when I put them on, I need to feel great.

    1. Thank you, Ann! I adore this Brutalist style - it's very hard to find pieces by this artist (Robert Larin), but I keep looking.

  6. It's more than just a green dress- so pretty. I'm glad in the heat you're going bare leg but agree, the shoe has to work.

  9. Yay for yet another fabulous jammy dress!

As for the wearing of masks, so many people seem to be opting for fewer or no wearings. Fred and I continue to wear ours indoors for food shopping and anytime we find ourselves in a store. Otherwise, even with family gatherings, I have noticed we are being more daring and not wearing our masks.

At this point many friends and family (including Fred in late June) have already had Covid. Thank goodness for the vaccines; surely they helped keep most occurrences to mild rather than what happened back in 2020.

    Cheers, Laurie

    1. Thanks so much, Laurie! Yes, same here - not many folks wearing masks out in public. I'm the same - if there are lots of people in an enclosed space, or I'm walking through a lot of people (like in a restaurant or store/mall), then I want a mask on. We don't wear them with our friends, though. Most of the people we know have had Covid as well - some of them hit hard, some less so. Agreed - thank goodness for vaccines!
