Tiers of Toile, Plus Han and Leia

Another hot day - and another one of my summer dresses comes out to play!
I know, I've been grumping about frou-frou or twee clothing lately, but I can handle these ruffles.

  • Dress - PartTwo, consignment; last seen here in June 2021, for a Zoom call
  • Shoes - "I Know" Star Wars by Irregular Choice, gift from mother-in-law; last worn here on May the 4th

It's a tower of toile tiers!
This dress has a very forgiving cut but is still slim enough not to be voluminous.

I have a pair of black workout shorts on underneath.
I also wore toe-covering shoe inserts to save my bare feet.

So many ruffles.
Five tiers, plus the arm-holes and neck are edged in ruffles.

Masked up.
And it's an all-over floral...but it still doesn't feel too overly precious.

Incognito.
I couldn't bear wearing another garment over this, nor could I bother sunblocking up for a 20 minute walk each way.

So I added my paper parasol.
I've been wearing my Geox (consignment) shoes for walking to and from work for the last several weeks.

  • Parasol - Chinatown
  • Hat - Heart's Content
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
There's Leia...

Blue/silver bling:
...and there's Han! One of my favourite movie couples (original trilogy!) ever.

  • Silver cuff - vintage, thrifted, Powell River
  • Crystal cuff - Swarovski, consignment, gift from L
  • Necklace - thrifted
  • Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver earrings - gift from Petra

  1. Now, this dress is just fun! I keep looking at it trying to figure out why it isn't frou-frou or twee, and I don't know unless it's the color? But, it's just a fabulous look on you...makes you look so tall! Those shoes are wonderful...I bet they're great conversation starters!

  2. I think the dress style is sufficiently different and unusual that it balances out any frufruness. Then you added the hat and sunglasses and I immediately thought movie star incognito!

Given the heat, any extra space between you and the dress should provide room for air circulation, I abhor close fitting clothing on days where the temps are 90 or above or days when it is quite humid.

In any case, a snazzy outfit overall abetted by that extra dollop of delight, Leía and Han. ❤️

    Cheers, Laurie

  3. It’s actually quite slimming despite the tiers.

  4. Tower of toile tiers! What an apt description for this gorgeous dress, which indeed isn't overly frou-frou or girly! Swooning over your lovely parasol! I'd never heard of toe-covering shoe inserts so need to check into them. The shoes - which aren't sandals - I can wear on my bare feet are quite limited and I ended up having sore toes. Ouch! xxx

    1. Thank you, Ann! I love my parasol - it's so handy in the sun. I took a pic of my footwear fixes for you - check back on Monday.

  5. My daughter would die for those shoes. I too wear dresses and skirts a lot in the summer. It is 108 here and so hot. They are just cooler. I was out hanging wash on the line, and I have 4 dresses out there.

  7. I love the tower of tiers! I think that floral tiered dresses can be tricky sometimes but this one is so special and I think the dark colours and bigger print make it definitely not frou-frou-ish! It looks so good on you too.

  8. I love how tall you look in those tiers - it's reminded me to drag out a similarly ruffled dress next week! xxx

  9. That dress is just so pretty, without being too girly. The tiers are not too full so it's not floofy and the colour and print make it elegant.
