Blue Maxi Blues

My friends, I am so ready for the weekend! I worked late, and I need some couch time.
Did not like this blue maxi skirt at all. No. Done.

  • Blazer - KL by Karl Lagerfeld, vintage 80s, consignment; last seen here in February just after Karl died
  • Cami - not tracked
  • Skirt - no label, thrifted; purchased here for $19.99
  • Shoes - Gabor; purchased here for $118.00
  • Coat (below) - L'Atiste, consignment; first worn here a couple of weeks ago

I was good with the outfit overall, but I prefer this jacket with a shorter, slimmer skirt (you can see how nice it is with a black skirt in the link above).
It's the first time I tried belting the jacket, and I liked it. The pics below show it better, as it looks bulky there. The jacket is an amazing piece and one of my treasures.

But the skirt. Ugh. It rode up, it wrinkled, and that hem IS uneven!
See? The jacket is good there.

And here. I like the colour, but the style and weight of the skirt were all wrong. I should have worn this wonderful vintage Andres Courreges skirt! *slaps forehead* D'oh!
I considered setting the skirt aside for summer, but no, it just was not there for me.

"But I'm so swooshy!" cried the skirt.
 "Not hanger-worthy!" she said decisively.

Outerwear - if I'm gonna wear an 80s blazer, then I need an 80s-inspired coat.
A loose, baggy jacket to fit over the structured blazer. I love this coat - it's like wearing a blanket.

  • Head wrap - thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

I always forget I have this Velcro-closure faux fur head wrap, but it's great for keeping my ears warm when my hair is up.

The stuff:
I ostensibly built the outfit around the shoes, but I ended up losing them in all the blues. They deserve another wearing very soon that will show them off better. I did love them, though. Comfy as heck!

Blingy bling:
Double pins on the blazer to accentuate the odd lapels.

  • Belt - Karen Millen, thrifted
  • Eelskin cuff - vintage 80s, thrifted (but might be mine from the 80s, I had an identical one)
  • Blue crystal brooch - vintage 60s, vintage fair
  • Beetle brooch - vintage fair, first wearing, purchased here for $8.00
  • Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Blue crystal necklace and earrings - Sherman, vintage 60s, thrifted

And with all that blue bling, I'm signing off for the weekend. I'll be back on Monday with tales adventure - thank you so much for stopping by.

  1. I lov eth shades of blue togehter although it's a shame you didn't love the skirt. I agree iwth you, if you're not feeling it time to let it go! :)

I need to try belting my blazers more often - this massively helped by uncovering my box of belts I've been thinking was lost for months! Sadly, with most of them pleather they didn't all survive storage (if you don't use pleather often ..or sometimes even if you do use it....in the heat and humidity here it cracks). I'm so glad to have (most) of my belts again now though!

    1. Thanks, Mica - by now, I know when there's a blah item.

I like a belted look - it's nice to see it's a "thing" again. So glad you found your belts - look for leather ones when you're out thrifting!

  2. Looking glorious in blue! The boots are absolutely wonderful and the colours are fab together.
What a shame the skirt didn't tick all the boxes but not worth worrying over, it'll find its rightful home in the end.
Have a relaxing weekend, Sheila! Get those batteries recharged and give Vizzini a cuddle from me! xxx

  4. I'm hearing you about the skirt. The colour is gorgeous but there might just be too much fabric. I'm loving the jacket and your blue bling and those boots are really amazing. I happened to see very similar ones in a shop a couple of days ago. They do look pretty comfortable too! Wishing you a wonderful weekend, Sheila! xxx

  8. We all have those days where we're not happy with a certain piece of clothing.

How lovely that you've got a visual diary of what you wear everyday and you can look back and reflect on what you like and don't like. X

    1. Yup, we do - I'm always very quick to let go (or eject) things that don't work for me.

I know, I lave that I have this record. Thanks, Jess.

  11. Ha! you never stop surprising me. I dont think I would have thought of placing these two shades together and I think they work marvellously well my dear genius. The belt ties it all wonderfully!
