I'd planned to wear today's outfit with this vesty doohicky over it. It didn't go well, so one more attempt at making an outfit out of it, and then it's gonzo for that sparkly thingamabob.
I went with the original outfit on its own, though, as I love this dress. I was a little chilled on my arms in the sheer lace, but I felt comfy and snuggly all day otherwise.- Top - Express, thrifted; last seen here (4th outfit) in November for a chill afternoon meet-up with friends
- Tube dress - Dolce & Gabbana, vintage 90s, thrifted; first worn here in October with a floral blouse under it
- Shoes - Coclico; last seen here in August with a metal dress (same earrings, of course)
- Coat (below) - Hilary Radley, thrifted; last worn here last week with Space Pants
Dang, this dress is sexy, if I do say so myself. It is a very nice thick stretchy wool, and just hugs all the curves. I do get an extra thrill that it's a Dolce & Gabbana from the 90s. Real designer! Made in Italy too (super klassy).
I also like showing off a bit of my ink through this top.
I had a scotch with my boss in his office today (with two other VPs) - they are so sweet, they gave me another Fluevog gift card for Christmas. I then went out with one of my colleagues who works for our landlord, and we commiserated over how stoopid people can be. Don't get me wrong - many people are awesome...but many people are also stoopid, especially when you work in a service-oriented job as we both do.
All bundled up in my classic winter uniform - the Unsafe Ocelot and my furry accoutrements!
It poured this morning, so I also carried my umbrella, which I forgot at the office, so now my fur is drying out.
- Fur toque/scarf/leather gloves - Danier
The stuff:
I'm surprised that I haven't worn these since August, but really - so many shoes, so little time!
Metal bling:
These earrings are always worn with the pink tasseled shoes!
- Leather/chain cuff - local
- Earrings - consignment, Vancouver
- Hematite ring - thrifted (first wear, it was $1.00)
- Gold/amethyst ring - Dad's, c. 1965, France Jewellers
You look great! Maybe that sparkly thing that didn't work over this would work better in a outfit where it's treated as a top? Over wide-legged trousers, perhaps, or a long skirt with lots of fabric? It looks to me like the sort of garment that might need a few tries to find how it works. I hope you find a way to wear it, I'd like to see it on!
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty sheer, Radostin, so I'd still have to wear something under it, and I'm not sure that going bare arms is going to work at this time of year - but it's so seasonally sparkly that I really want to try it. I must wear it at least once!
Deleteglad that your coworkers and boss are so nice, and that you had some good chatting with mates, that's really important!
ReplyDeleteLove that your earrings and shoes are coordinated, that's fabulousness!, and lovely dress too!. Sorry that the shiny vest didn't work, it looks cool!
besos
I'm lucky to have good colleagues at work. Thanks so much! I'll try again with the vesty thing.
DeleteBEAUTIFUL! Now this is something I could/would wear! I really liked that red dress and cardigan from a couple of posts ago, too. I'm always interested AND amazed at your humongous collection. I love your grooviness :)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Sheila!
Oh, thank you so much, Rebecca - I liked that outfit too. :) Aw, thank you! Groove on my blogging sister! A very Merry Christmas to you!
DeleteOkay, this outfit is PERFECTION. I love everything about it, and you look to die for in it!!!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you, Erin! It felt wonderful to wear, and that's always the goal, right?
DeleteGorgeous even without the sparkly thingamabob! That's a fantastic 1990-inspired look you've got going on there with the slip dress and the lace top and I think you should give me those shoes, I've got a cape & gloves they'd match perfectly! While you're at it I'll take those tasseled earrings, too - wow!
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant gift, lucky girl! x
Thank you! I loved the slip dress and the tube dress with t-shirt under look of the 90s, so it's fun to play with that again. Um, no, I'm not giving you my shoes, ha ha!
DeleteFabulous shoes! Love the dress with the lace top underneath. The tasselled earrings and shoes were made for each other...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Veronica! They are a favourite pair - that colour!
DeleteThe lacy top looks great layered under the dress, but if you're not happy with the thingamabob, it's obvious it has to go. Those shoes are beyond fabulous, and so are the tassel earrings! What wonderful colleagues you have, and a Fluevog gift card too. They know you so well ... xxx
ReplyDeleteI've got to try it at least once, Ann! I feel I owe it to myself and to the thingamaob. My coworkers know me very well - keep me happy with shoes!
DeleteI love the colourful shoes and earrings with this - I'm all about magenta! Great layering too :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame that the metallic thingamabob didn't work, and unfortunately I had no great ideas! I've only ever seen them worn over pants, and I know your more of a skirt and dress person.
Yes, I originally thought of wearing it with pants, and that's probably the direction I'll choose next time. I need to break up the expanse of silvery fabric. Thanks, Mica!
DeleteThank you, danae! He's a good boss, knows how hard I work.
ReplyDeleteIn love with this outfit She! Comfy and seriously sexy with nod to lovely tattoos but also warm. A big yes from me!
ReplyDeleteThank you, sweetheart! Hugs to you.
DeleteOh wow this is great layering ! Well done She. Happy Holidays.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lorena! Happy hols to you as well!
