I was ravaged by a stomach bug on Monday night...and all day Tuesday. No work for me yesterday - back to bed for the whole danged day.
I had a dinner date with Elaine last night and didn't want to skip on her. There was nothing left in my system by then and I figured if I'm going to eat, I may as well go somewhere nice and have her company. Bring out the jammy dress!- Dress - no label, handmade, consignment; first seen here in March (look how short my hair is!)
- Shoes - Half Truth Veda, Fluevog; last worn here (2nd outfit) in October for theatre with Mom (pewter leather skirt!)
- Coat (below) - Vassali, consignment; last seen here in November
- Coat (below) - Hilary Radley, thrifted; last worn here in March
If you're wondering why there are two coats listed, it's because I wore this exact outfit again today for work. It's not like anyone saw me last night and then I didn't have to think about it. No thinking.
I did add my Star Trek communicator badge today, but other than that, all the same. I am feeling better, but I'm very dehydrated and tired. Must be good to myself.
Remembering that the neckline on this dress is really wide, I wore a black tank under it to cover my bra straps.
I have a black half-slip under it as well, to add warmth.
Outerwear from last night. Too cold! This coat is not warm enough for 5 degrees.
But my furry set gets lots of love from me.
- Fur toque/scarf/leather gloves - Danier
Today's outerwear - welcome to the Unsafe Ocelot!
Get used to it - I wore this coat to death last winter, and if it stays really chilly, I expect to wear this a ton this year too.
The stuff:
Work was insanely busy. I was glad to have low heels on.
Gold bling:
- Star Trek badge - MoPop gift shop
- Earrings - thrifted
- Amber ring - c. 1996
Extra bonus outfit! It's my Weight Watchers employee dinner tonight. They always expect me to be extra-glitzy (where do they get this idea? Hmmm).
No stair picture, because it's pitch dark right now (6pm). I always try to get one wear out of this dress every holiday season.
- Dress - Adrian, vintage 60s, thrifted; last seen here...uh oh! I wore this same dress for my WW meeting last year in December 2016!
- Shoes - Channi B; last worn here in November with dragons
- Coat (below) - Forever 21, thrifted; last seen here in May 2016 over a green satin dress (I look awesome there!)
Okay, yes, I love this dress, and I do plan to wear it this season, but I can't wear it tonight!
I will wear this coat, but not over this dress.
I only see most of my WW colleagues once a year, at this dinner, so I totally have to change. Ack!
The stuff:
I'm keeping the earrings on, and still wearing these fab shoes.
Bling:
And keeping the pin on, but not the necklaces worn as bracelets.
So....
- Galaxy pin - Sarah Coventry, vintage fair
- Earrings - first wearing, vintage fair
- Belt (not shown) - vintage fair
Now, this is what I'm wearing for dinner! I threw on a vintage slip, grabbed this silver metal link belt, and voila!
I like this dress, but I don't love this dress. This is it for this dress.- Dress - Doncaster, vintage 80s, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) in January for a wrong-day theatre date with Mom
- Shoes - as above, Channi B
- Coat - as above, Forever 21, thrifted
Yeah, no. I look too grannyish in this (not that there's anything wrong with being grannyish, but it's not the look I'm going for).
"Is the cleaning lady done yet?" |
I like it with the coat, though.
And it will do. Off to catch my ride!
I lvoe the ability to look back and see when you wore things through a blog - although it's a shame you had to change as it's a lovely dress. I like your second one too, especially with that coat, even if you weren't feeling it.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you've been unwell too, but good to see you're back to your usual self again now!
I'll be wearing it again soon - I love that dress! Thanks, Mica! Much better now.
DeleteAs much as I loved the unsafe polar bear coat, I have to say I love the unsafe ocelot even more!! :) I love your vintage 60s dress too. Hope you're feeling much better, Sheila. XXX
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous, isn't it? Thanks, hon, better today.
DeleteHope you're feeling a lot better now. I'm still trying to decide which of the dresses I love the most. They'd all perfectly fit into my wardrobe. OK, I've decided: it's that utterly fantastic 1960s one! Such a pity you had to change it. Love the unsafe ocelot and that divine jacket. Will have to dig out my very unsafe leopard soon, it's getting colder! xxx
ReplyDeleteThe 60s one is really divine - but I'll wear it again very soon. Unsafe leopard sounds wonderful, Ann!
DeleteGlad you feel better!!! Love the short leopard print coat!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, sweetheart!
DeleteSorry you've been ill and glad to see that you're out and about and looking F@@@ing fabulous now.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress you wore twice - if it's worth doing, it's worth repeating - and the brocade shift is a beaut. Loving the unsafe ocelot and the cropped leopard. Jon would fight you for the Star Trek badge!
I know that feeling, no matter how many people compliment you if you aren't feeling a dress then it's got to go. I don't think you'd ever look like a granny even if you tried to. The colour is ace and Vizzini seems to like it. xxx
Thanks, Vix! I like that dress - not quite sure if I love it, but I do like it. Ha, Jon is a Star Trek fan! Nice! Yes, I agree - if I'm not feeling it, I can't keep it. Aw, thanks!
DeleteI certainly hope that bug is out of your system by now Sheila !
ReplyDeleteAs much as I like the hand made no label printed dress, there is something off on the collar, maybe too open ?
Yes, it doesn't sit right - it is way off when I don't have a tank on under it. Not sure if it will stay with me, but for now, it's fine.
DeleteBetter today, thank you, hon!
I love the green dress :) It makes me think mad men and makes me happy! As always I think you looked fabulous
ReplyDeleteI promise I'll wear it again soon! Thanks, Trisha!
