I'm feeling in the doldrums a bit right now - I go through waves, up and down, kind of like the waterbed that I had when I was a teen. Anyway, it's nothing specific and everything in general. Malaise, ennui, lack of mojo, with a wee sprinkle of depression.
I've been spending time with my friends, which is good. I also need to colour my hair, as it now matches my shoes exactly.- Jacket - Boom Boom Jeans, thrifted; last seen here in November 2016 with painty plaid
- Sleeveless sweater - Gap, thrifted; last worn here a couple of weeks ago with floral and dots
- Skirt - Vivienne Tam, consignment; last seen here in April with the same top and shoes
- Shoes - Coclico; last worn here in May with green and graphics
If you jump back to when I last wore this skirt, you'll see what my purple hair is supposed to look like - it does fade over time, but just to magenta. I can live with that. Taking care of my haircolour is one of those self-care things that makes me feel better, so I will do it this weekend.
My hair's getting long! It's tucked into the back of my jacket.
It's been a while since I wore this jacket, and I gave it a long look - is it time for it to go? I do love the peplum back detail and the quasi-military look of it. And it's a good topper for a funky skirt. Thoughts?
The stuff:
My feet are sore after a full day of regular work plus my WW meeting, so must wear flat shoes tomorrow. That's also self-care.
Silver bling:
A few favourite things always lift my mood.
- Cage cuff - Bauxo
- Ring - Soul Flower
- Earrings - don't remember, late 90s
I'll be back on Sunday to regale you with my adventures. Have a wonderful weekend, my friends!
Sending hugs as well as kudos to you for recognising your need for self-care. I love the outfit, your hair colour, and that jacket. It fits and flatters you and is such a good foil for a dramatic skirt. Love your blog, Sheila. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cynthia! I appreciate the "hug in a comment" - you rock!
DeleteAw Sheila, I hope you feel better with that self care you've promised yourself!
ReplyDeleteI say keep the jacket. It's classic in its own way. And those shoes look worth the sore feet!
Take good care!
I'm working on it, Sue, thank you! I like the jacket too. The shoes ARE worth it!
DeleteHope that you get back on top of things and feel more like yourself soon Sheila! I agree self-care is important, whatever that looks like! I used some naptime today to paint my nails. It's a frivolous little thing, but being able to do it makes me smile for days afterwards as I see my cheerful nails, a good pick-me-up!
ReplyDeleteGetting there, Mica, thank you! I did my nails for 6 months and then just felt bogged down by it. When it's a chore, it's not as fun.
DeleteSorry to hear that you're feeling in the doldrums at the moment, Sheila. I've only recently discovered the blogging world and I genuinely love looking at your blog everyday. Your style inspires me to embrace my own quirky style with more confidence. I lost my style identity and mojo over the last few years as a stay-at-home mum, but am now slowly getting my mojo back. What I wear plays a big part in allowing me to express myself and also feeling true to myself. Thank you for inspiring me Sheila!
ReplyDeleteXxx Sasha
Thank you so much, Sasha! I'm happy to have you as a new reader/blogger/friend! We shall get our mojo going together!
DeleteThank you Sheila! I already count you as a friend too!
DeleteXXX Sasha
Aw, thanks, hon.
DeleteOh I certainly hope you have your mojo back soon and flush those sprinkles of depression down the toilet.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors here and think its cool your shoes match your hair... will you let it grow longer ?
I like the skirt and think the jacket still has a lot of life in it.
Thanks, sweetie! Yes, the plan is to grow my hair longer - it's been a year so far, and it is taking FOREVER.
DeleteThis outfit! LOVE! Love the jacket too!
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself! Hugs!!
And as always thank you for your style inspiration!
XO!
Thank you, Ella!
DeleteThe jacket is functional and feminine, but maybe not joyful enough to make the grade given your current mood, sweetie.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll feel miles better once your hair is working again. By working, you know what I mean. Take care darling.
Anna x
Yes, you're right - my mood is colouring my appreciation of this jacket. It was good to wear and comfy, and I love the shape and cut of it. I know what you mean, thank you, Anna!
DeleteI LOVE those shoes (not that you asked); and I would definitely keep that jacket.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're taking care of yourself. It's important.
Thank you so much, Kit, me too! It is important to do the little things, even when they take effort (which feels like so much effort sometimes).
DeleteSo sorry that you are feeling down, unless you tell us, we don't know because you look fab as usual. To weigh in: I like the jacket (quasi-military style with the buttons, but casual with the denim); love the color of the shoes and that they match your hair (can't coordinate better then that); I think your current hair color looks great on you, so I don't think of it as a bad thing. And have I ever mentioned that whatever you wear, you wear it well? Go Sheila!
ReplyDeleteI think it's important to share it with my readers - my life isn't perfect, I'm not perfect, and I'm more than just my clothes and what I wear.
DeleteThanks very much for your feedback and your "cheerleading"! I needed it - thank you!
Sorry 'bout your mood, Sweetie. Hope it improves. There's something on its way to you which may help. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, hon. Aw, you are a doll, thank you. *hug*
DeleteKeep the jacket. Military is in again. And the shoes... swooning over them. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGreetje
Yes, ma'am! Ha, I always know you will tell me exactly what I should do, Greetje! Thank you!
DeleteThat the Dutch for you.. brutal honesty. We are infamous for our rudeness 🙃.
DeleteOne person's rude is another's honest!
DeleteTo beloved and admired Sheila, I do hope that the doldrums leave soon - nothing lasts forever (except Fluevog addiction). I hope you know that you are an inspiration, moral support and exemplar of openness, honesty and individuality for so many people, many of whom have never commented before (like me). YOU give US courage and confidence. Take gentlest care, with love from Barwon Heads, Australia
ReplyDeleteAw, Leanne, thank you so much for your sweet and kind comment - it means a lot to me. That you un-lurked to tell me is the best gift, thanks.
DeleteI adore everything about that ensemble. You are an artist with clothing and color!
ReplyDeleteAnd sometimes we get the blues for no discernible reason. It's not fun or fair. Your spirits will rise--almost of their own accord, I suspect. All of your loyal readers are sending you love, including me!!!!
Thanks, Linda! I like to tell people it's my art (my clothes, not my moods, ha). I know, the wave will go back up again soon. Thank you so much for the good vibes!
