Ah, Monday. I did not want to talk to anyone or deal with anything today. Instead, my day started with me scooping hot coffee grounds out of the backed-up coffee machine. Then I had to put my "game face" on and show around our new hire.
And right at the end of the day, I had to deal with an eruption of liquefied powdered chocolate that had gummed up inside that same (possessed!) coffee monster of a machine. I reek of burnt coffee and chocolate.- Cashmere sweater - Lord & Taylor, consignment; last seen here in May with jungle toes
- Neoprene skirt - Clover Canyon, consignment; first worn here in June with grey ruffles
- Shoes - Effortless Vivian, Fluevog; last seen here a couple of weeks ago with floral and dots
And this freaking skirt continued to drive me crazy. It scootches up my torso as I wear it! You can see where the waistband is in the above picture (because my cashmere sweater is very thin and sheer). After walking around the office, that waistband was creeping up. And up. And up.
Me: Jeez! Stay put, skirt! I want you to sit at my waist, so that the hem falls just below my knee.
Skirt: Nuh-uh, I'm making a break for Underboob City! [cue "Jaws" theme]
Me: NO, don't go there. I want you back down here in Waist Territory.
Skirt: I'm going, and you can't stop me!
On the walk home, I just let it go there and pretended it was a short skirt.
My trusty straw hat.
And yeah, it was a little too warm to wear cashmere, even thin cashmere. I don't care.
The stuff:
Love these shoes. They are so funky.
Blue bling:
There is something about orange and blue together that I really adore, especially this rich baby blue.
- Bracelet - Coro, vintage 60s, vintage fair
- Bangle - local
- Earrings - vintage fair
- Silver/sodalite ring - 1998, Scotland
- Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
Oh no - definitely not a good day! Would belting the skirt help keep it in place? Or maybe if you wear it with tights? Otherwise I think it won't stay long in your wardrobe - I certainly have no time for pieces that I have to fuss with, I'm a lot more ruthless with my wardrobe now!
ReplyDeleteNo, it has no actual waistband, just folded-over fabric that's been fused, and I'm sure that's part of the problem. I'll probably keep it to see if it works better in cool weather (with tights, as you suggest). But yes, if it is driving me nuts, I'm not keeping it!
DeleteYou are a trouper, Sheila. (Don't like that word but it fits.) That coffee machine is a gift from Satan. How many horror stories revolve around it? Time to make everyone bring their OWN coffee in. And chocolate in there? ??? Okay, everybody, stand in the corner! I hope your building has a lot of them. Heh. Good-bye skirt. Your swan song is on.
ReplyDeleteOh, how I hate that vile machine! So many horror stories! I know, that skirt isn't going to last long with an attitude like that!
DeleteLove your misbehaving skirt! The sweater is so pretty, the color is flattering on you and you know how I adore the blue shoes. Loved the dialogue you had with your skirt!
ReplyDeleteMondays, yes.... sounds like that coffee machine was also acting up.
Hope the week trends better ,

It's such a pretty skirt - and so unusual - so I'm giving it a few more chances. We'll see.
DeleteThanks, Elle!
woa, managing an evil coffee machine is just the thing you don't want to do on a Monday morning!, sometimes it seems like those machines know that it's Monday! evil machines!, and evil skirt too!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you looked fabulous in your cool shoes and delightful attitude!
besos
It is a really evil machine. Thank you, my dear!
DeleteBad skirt and equally bad coffee machine - what a crap day. You still rocked that outfit, but honey you need to pack that moody old skirt away for good.

Yes, I can't see keeping this skirt much longer - maybe one more wear with tights, just to make sure.
