And another Monday was had. Ugh, the less said the better. However, I can't feel bad for long in this spectacular dress!
Thank you to Lorena for pointing out that this Desigual dress is called the "Gracey" and is a fairly recent piece - I did well for my $30!- Dress - Desigual Gracey, vintage expo; purchased here for $30.00
- Boots - Marc Softwalk; last worn here in January with blues
- Coat (below) - Simon Dong, thrifted
I layered the dress over a red full-skirted vintage slip, so that's what you're seeing hang down at the bottom. The dress is lined in cotton so it's very "I stick to you!" - I definitely needed a slip. However, first wear in, and the dress gets a thumbs up from me.
It confused a few people who didn't get that the top and bottom were a single garment.
With it now being October - bam! Fog time.
You can just see the points of the Castle's roofline through the trees - this is what I saw when I did the stair picture this morning.
Better bundle up:
"Hmmm, nom, nom, what can I eat in this bag?" |
The stuff:
One of my favourite pairs of low boots - these are lovely and squishy to wear.
Dark bling:
I missed my bigass leather obi!
- Cuff - Guess, thrifted
- Earrings - Le Chateau
- Obi - local, gift from L
Love that ultra cool Desigual dress, the bohemian mix of prints is so up my alley and fabulous on you!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the teal coat and pink scarf.
I adore the fuller slip under the dress, it makes all the difference! Cheers to you for thinking of it!

Thanks, Elle! I've done this slip under dresses since I first got it, probably about 6-7 years ago.
DeleteI thought this was two pieces at first glance too! It's a beautiful dress and the red slip and obi belt are perfect with it.
ReplyDeleteAw, cheers, Mica, thank you!
DeleteWhoa - I love your new dress and for only 30! I don't see any writing on it, which is surprising because that brand loves to tell me to be happy and have a cheerful day. Heh. So this dress is perfect. Heh. I can see why it helps get through Mondays. And I love the red skirt under it.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's quite restrained for Desigual! They only wrote the name on the back of the neck (the dress has no label, that's the only way I was able to tell who made it!). That's no red skirt - that's a full top and bottom vintage slip!
DeleteThe dress is gorgeous and how clever to include the longer slip underneath. It looks really good on you.
ReplyDeleteWe had two Desigual skirts come in the charity shop where I volunteer- I spotted them immediately as the style is so recognisable. They were my size - but far too short for me. Boo hoo.

Thanks so much, Veronica! It's a good way to add length and coverage. Desigual does have a very distinct style - usually very patchwork-y - I was surprised that this dress was by them.
DeleteLove the Obi bet, have such a thing for then, and the thrifted cuff, double cudos for the thrifted part! I am just learning this slip under the dress trick , or slip dress under dress, and a great those lace up boots are too cool!

Thank you, Elle! I have a big collection of obis. I love wearing vintage slips under dresses and skirts.
DeleteI'm not usually a fan of Desigual, but this dress is lovely! I definitely like the way that you styled it. But I am in love big time with your coat! xxx
ReplyDeleteI like some of their stuff - I've had a few pieces over the years. Thank you - I was thrilled to find that coat!
DeleteI'm not a big fan of Desigual, so the dress is not one of my favourite things of yours, but the coat is wonderful. Teal is such a great coat colour as it looks good over so many things, and the zipper (?) detailing makes it even more fun.
ReplyDeleteI don't like ALL of their stuff (some of it is not great quality), but I liked this dress. Yes! The coat has a zipper-edged ruffle. I swoon!
Deletefabulous coat, thas zipper edge is cool!, and I like that you added a slip under your dress, that's great advice for any cotton-lined skirt!
ReplyDeletebesos
Thanks, my dear! I don't usually keep cotton-lined skirts out for fall/winter, but it's a good way to make them workable all year.
DeleteThe dress is wonderful on, and the slip is a good move from not only a practical but a visual point of view. I love the zip coat and can imagine how satisfying the weight of it must be. This date is our anniversary - 35 years. While you were cosied up in your layers we were sitting on the beach drinking a bottle of fizz to celebrate.

Thank you, Anna! The coat is actually not that heavy, and I do have to be careful of the zippers snagging things. Happy anniversary to you!
DeleteFantastic outfit! Lace up boots partner with this vivid dress so wonderfully. You have such an incredible fashion season, dear Shelia.
