It was fate: one of the good employees of the local 7-Eleven said my outfit today was "so lavender-y!" and there we go, post title done.
Please stage an intervention if I start turning into one of those people who only wears purple. Really!- Blazer - Talbots, thrifted; purchased here in May for $10.00 (a very good shopping dash with Lesley!)
- Sweater top - Dana Buchman, thrifted; last seen here in December 2015 with purple sequins
- Skirt - Chia, vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) on a post-Crafternoon Monday in April
- Booties - Feud; last seen here in November 2015 with more grey-lavender
I liked all the colours in this, but not the overall outfit. The proportions are off.
First wearing of the blazer - it's wool, it's made in Italy, and it's quite a boxy cut - a shorter, curvier blazer would have complemented the curvy longer skirt better.
I love the purple leather skirt (pockets!), but it's a long pencil and so I've stumpified my legs with the booties (I have cream lace tights on too, way to look paler).
However, I love it all buttoned up and furred up with my outerwear accessories - no jacket today! All these pieces are Danier Leather (gloves, toque and circle scarf).
The stuff:
So I only wear these lavender booties once a year. So what? They were bought with a gift certificate from L a few years ago for my birthday, and I tend not to buy practical shoes with gift money.
Shiny bling:
All the shiny, it pleases me.
- Necklace - thrifted
- Earrings - local
- Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop
- Gold ring - Dad's, early 60s, Frances Jewelers
Three more wonderful gifts from my awesome coworkers!
Aberlour 10 year old from the VP of Awesome, Michael. A scary-good-looking bottle of Chateauneuf du Pap wine from Christian, Emily, Frank and CAB. Chocolate from Scott in Finance. Aw! So nice.
Vizzini was being a total sulky kitty today - he wanted to snuggle (that usually means he's cold), so I made him a little hidey-hole with a blanket on the couch.

Oh, those booties!!!! You always find the most gorgeous shoes.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cynthia!
DeleteI agree with your suggestions on how this outfit could have been improved. It's good; with those tweaks, it could be even better.
ReplyDeleteIt felt fine on, but once I saw the pictures, I was all, "oops," not a good one today! It's always a learning experience!
DeleteI get what you are saying about the proportions. Which teaches us, readers, how to improve our own outfits. Thank you. And I still like it on you.

You're welcome! I liked it too - just not in the pictures!
DeleteThat lilac leather skirt is a knockout!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fab? And it has pockets!
DeleteI looooved this lavender dream look. If anything I would have belted the blazer and added thin heeled shoes.
ReplyDeleteI tried that, but the blazer is a little too bulky - didn't look right. And I didn't have lavender thin-heeled shoes!
DeleteYou're a vision in purple! Oh, and those booties. I doubt if I would be able to walk in them, though ... xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you! They are walkable, but not for long. Easier for a desk job on a slow day!
DeleteOh I knew you were my kinda woman! (Been lurking for a while, sorry) Aberlour and Lindt SeaSalt - that's a good combo. Happy belated birthday. Lesley
ReplyDeleteLesley, thank you and welcome! Yes, I've been a single malt (Islays preferred) for many years. And chocolate + salt = food of the gods!
DeleteThis lavender look is like your instagram filter has gone crazy, but oh how I love it. Sometimes it's great to go completely over the top, and yes, we'll all jump on you if you start to do this every day honey. Lovely friends and workmates to give you all of these treats.

It was fun to play with - thanks for keeping me honest, ha! I have some awesome coworkers.
