Mullet Outfit: Business on Top, Party on the Bottom

I make up the titles for my posts at some point during my day, based on how I feel about my outfit, things people (coworkers, strangers, weird shouty people) say about and sometimes it's a pun or bit of wordplay around the colours or style of a piece.
Today, I thought "mullet outfit" on the way home, eating a slice of pizza (followed by an apple).

  • Blouse - Elite, vintage 80s, thrifted; last seen here in July with chrysanthemums
  • Skirt - Joe Fresh, consignment; first worn here in August with baby blue
  • Shoes - Fugitive, thrifted; last worn here in June with fluffy leopard
  • Jacket (below) - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; worn yesterday, here

I'm all business on the top: buttoned up, tied up, big full swoopy sleeves and tight cuffs. No way, I have tattoos??

They're actually (very) slightly visible through the blouse, ha!
I wanted to get another wear out of this skirt before I pack it away. It's lined, but it's a cotton lining. I have lacy fishnet tights on (visible in the top picture) and the skirt clung to them all day. Lacy skirt, lacy legs - party on the bottom!

Freakin' heck, I love this jacket.
One of my better thrift purchases - my cost per wear is dropping every day!

The stuff:
I didn't do the "mod" look as much this year as I have in previous summers, so these shoes have only gotten 2 wearings. I still love them, though, so they're keepers.

Blue bling:
Yup, those are blue.

  • Earrings - Caracol
  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

  3. I think of tittles for posts when I am uploading the pictures. Lately I've been on a rut !
I like the look but for some reason that pretty blouse looks a bit big - and those shoes have been faves for a while now.

    1. Really? I haven't noticed any rut! The blouse is a little big, but I like the extra room - some days you just don't want anything tight! Thank you!

  4. What a business like shirt that is! The outfit looks the business altogether. I love those 60s shoes with big buckles; I remember them well...

    1. Shockingly, these are modern shoes! I don't know from when, but no more than 10 years old. I remember the ones that these are nodding to, though. Thanks!

  5. I am glad you found the perfect title for this exceptional post. I adore the first picture: great pose, lovely colors, great gams, the subtle fishnet tights and flats that looks like Roger Vivier!
    and that Jacket! That Jacket!
Yes, I know that was not a complete sentence, but I was too wowed to complete it, have mercy.

    1. Ah, that's my patented "stair pose" - glad you like it. It's the only way I get natural light when the days get shorter. I paid $10 for those shoes - Roger, eat your heart out! It's a wow-worthy jacket, no worries, ha ha!

  8. Lacy tights and lacy top win my vote of approval, as does that sweet coat again. Are you sure you'll be able to pack this away? I fancy that the weather isn't always reliable and you may wish you kept it out...

  9. Very classy. I wonder though, looking at your coat and your yellow shoes in the next post, is it still such nice weather over at your place? We are down to 11 degrees Celcius during the day.
