Jungle, Lace, Dots and Elf Shoes

Aside from whatever I wear out to brunch on Saturday, this is my last spring/summer outfit of the year. I think it perfectly encapsulates everything that I love about clothes, fashion and style. 
And if I have to pick an outfit to represent this last 6 month season, this is as good as any.


  • Jacket - Vero Moda in Blue, thrifted; last seen here (3rd outfit) earlier this month with this same top for shopping with Jenn
  • Lace top - La Vie 89, thrifted; last worn here (3rd outfit), same time as the jacket
  • Skirt - vintage 80s, Pierre Cardin, vintage store; last worn here in June with Shoes My Husband Loves
  • Shoes - Prepare Guide, Fluevog; last seen here in August with a stained glass dress

What I love: the textures (quilted cotton, smooth silk, nubby lace), the patterns (jungle, lace, dots), the cuts (puffy jacket, cropped top, long lean pencil skirt), and the colours (turquoise, red, white, hints of peach and orange). And it's just so fun!
Everything in this outfit is getting packed away for 6 more months, including the shoes. I just don't have room to have everything out, plus these are very much warm weather weight garments.

The stuff:
Another year of my lovely blue elf shoes. I wore them seven times over half a year, which is pretty good, when you consider how many pairs of shoes I have (less than 100, but not by much).

Simple bling:
I'm feeling like I want to start piling on the bling, like, scads and scads of necklaces, rings and bracelets. Must be a fall thing!

Adieu to my spring/summer wardrobe!

Tomorrow night is the annual Vintage Expo at the Crystal Gardens, so I won't be posting - however, I will be dressed for the occasion! I'll have loot to share with you all (I'm sure!). This weekend is also the closet swap-out, and I'll be taking lots of pictures. See you all later - have a fabulous weekend!

    Love the colours and prints together in this outfit! Looking forward to your closet swap over pics, it's always fascinating to me (and makes me wish I was a little more organised with my wardrobe!) I did realise the other day I actually have space to keep the 'to be donated' clothes hung nicely instead of all piled up in a big bag so that's progress! :)

    How funny! I am just sitting down to a well-earned rest after "turning my wardrobe," as my Grandmother (b. 1909) used to call it. She took this biannual initiative very, very seriously. Everything had to be washed or taken to the cleaners, shoes polished or to the cobbler for repair, things folded away with lavender sachets. Then and only then was the new season unveiled.

    I love this ritual. I spent the morning handling the summer things, did piles of hand-washing, ran to the cleaners--then got reacquainted with my favorite boots and woolens. I especially like finding the out-of-season thrift finds that I squirreled away without wearing--this year, a pair of gorgeous russet Frye boots, several sweaters, and a merino dress.

    I have a hunch my wardrobe is much smaller than yours--limited closet space and also a pretty brutal aversion to stuff piling up--and I only "turn" about half of my clothes, along with jewelry, scarves, and fragrance. Even so, it takes a full, busy day. Now I can't stop peeking into my closet!

      Ooh, I love that phrase, "turning the wardrobe" - it's like ploughing a field and turning the soil. So evocative. I do a wash of anything that needs it, do everything up, fold it neatly, and pack it away into tubs to stash under my bed.

      I absolutely love pulling out my fall/winter seasonal items. I love hanging them up (steaming some of them now that I have a steamer), and getting reacquainted with them, as you say. I also have a stash of things that I've bought out of season over the spring/summer, and I'm excited to start digging through those items and making outfits.

      LOL, yes, I'm 100% positive that my wardrobe is much larger than yours! I also turn my scarves and just this year started doing my jewelry, as I have a huge collection, and found I wasn't wearing certain things in a specific season. It does take a long time, and I do document it, so you'll get to see what my closet is like.

    P.S. I don't know anyone else who packs clothes away seasonally (even my mother has mostly abandoned it), and my husband thinks I am an absolute nutcase. So. :-)

      I started doing it when I ran out of hangers. It gave me license to buy more clothes, so I don't know if it was a good thing after all!

      Now you know another nutcase, so you can show your husband my ginormous collection and he won't think your closet is so bad, ha ha!

    I can see why this is a great summation outfit - it has all the wonderful bits. Plus those shoes. I also like the phrase "turning the wardrobe," which velma68 mentioned.
