Wearing the Boys: Ralph and Hugo

I have only a few short weeks left of my spring/summer wardrobe before I switch over to my fall/winter one.
Yeah, I'm ready for fall. What gave it away? Is it the colours? Who doesn't love a rich plummy purpley-wine (my InStyle book calls it currant).

  • Jacket - Ralph Lauren, thrifted; purchased here at the 40+ Blogger Meet-Up in July for $25.00
  • Skirt - Hugo Boss, Boss Orange, consignment; last worn here (6th outfit) in May for a casual weekend shop
  • Shoes - Ralph Lauren, thrifted; first worn here in July with equestrian and red

I told everyone today, including at my WW meeting, that I was "wearing the boys, Ralph and Hugo". I got a few funny looks, but most people got it.

Loved this jacket today! I turned the sleeves up once so that I could show my bracelet.
I adore the little peplum back of it. I also really loved this full skirt with a slip top - they balanced each other perfectly.

The stuff:
For being a 3" heel, these are very comfortable. I wore them all day, plus for a couple hours at WW.

Rich bling:
Um, and blurry too.

  • Belt - Talbots, thrifted
  • Bracelet/earrings - Myka, gifts from L
  • Stone ring - cheap thing from about 15 years ago
  • Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop
  • Pinky ring - P. Sarpaneva, vintage 70s, vintage fair

One more day to the weekend! I have lots of shenanigans planned for the long Labour Day weekend - what are you up to?

  1. You're definitely looking autumnal here even though you've yet to make the big wardrobe switch. I wouldn't have recognized the jacket. Indeed, that was a good find. I got some $5 red/white polka-dot pants at that store today and it made me think of your dots.

  2. The leopard print belt is the perfect piece for the top and skirt! Definitely a very autumn toned outfit, and you wear it well!

I've been thinking about boxing away all my winter wardrobe now it's spring too. It will help give me more room, and if I start packing things away now it will be easier to move when we do finally find a house. We are lucky that my in-laws have plenty of space and are used to storing their children's things...my sister and brother in law just moved into their new place and cleared some stuff out of the in-laws so they have space for our things as we start getting serious above moving and making the house 'display ready' for selling!

  3. I remember cheering that jacket purchase - and it looks fantastic here. And my favorite sort of skirt, twirl-able. Have a great weekend. We are meeting friends and Sandy is going to get a French Horn lesson from his college music teacher! xox

  4. In-between season outfits are so interesting. I know you all have much colder winters than where I am, so I'm looking forward to contemplating the differences in our layering in a few months!

Also that plum jacket is stellar. I have a similar cut with the little round metal buttons in front, only in brown velour. And a much cheaper brand. Ha!

You're rocking woman ! this looks so good, the shapes, the belt, the buttons on this jacket. Nice.

  6. Fabulous rich colours in this outfit! I'm a fan of fitted, high collared jackets.
