Ooh, it was dark and a wee bit chilly this morning. Forgive me for the shivers.
Someone at work today complained, because I had bragged about wearing all glittery and shiny things for the rest of the year, that this outfit was not blingy enough. Really?- Velvet blazer - Le Chateau, consignment; last seen here in November when I had it goin' on
- Skirt - Pioneer Leather, vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here in November 2013 with more leather
- Boots - Indigo by Clark's; last worn here a week or so ago with fuzzy peach and ruffles
I have worn this jacket and skirt together before, here when I did my 30 for 30 Capsule Wardrobe for a year.
So yeah, no sequins, no paillettes, no glitter, but velvet, embroidery, suede, FRINGE and all that copper bling? This is not enough?
I promise sequins tomorrow.
The stuff:
I went for dinner after work with Elaine and I cut through the high school's playing field (where we play Ulty) before I arrived at the pub. I actually stopped and changed into my boots. Vanity, thy name is Sheila
Copper bling!
Look at all that shiny! I wore my Grandma J's full parure of copper - I'm always reminded of her this time of year. My ex and I used to go to her apartment and put up her tree for her back in the late 80s/early 90s - she would pay us $20 and we'd buy beer with it. I don't miss those days, but I do miss my grandma.
- Belt - Kudos, thrifted
- Necklace, bracelet, earrings - Renoir, Grandma J's, 1960s
- Copper rings - vintage fair
- Bronze ring - P. Sarpeneva, vintage 1970, vintage fair
Here's to good times and awesome grandmas.
Your grandma's copper jewelry is exquisite, and your jacket's embroidery is divine!
ReplyDeleteI wore my grandmother's crystal necklace in my hair for my wedding, and wore her crystal multi-strand bracelet as well. She didn't wear jewelry much, so I'm glad I have those pieces at least.
Not blingy enough? Bwa-ha-ha. Fringe and shiny count as bling all on their own but you also have texture and jewel tones. I'm glad you set things straight here.
ReplyDeleteI'll toast to good times and awesome grandmas. Love the embroidered jacket and the copper jewelry - it's great to be able to wear gorgeous jewelry *and* remember grandma. xox
ReplyDeleteOne cannot go wrong with blue suede...and FRINGED to boot! Cutting across the playing field...I used to do that in college... at 7:00 a.m. for a science lab... across the soccer field in the dark and snow of western New York...in a WEE MINI SKIRT. Thanks for conjuring up THAT memory. Oh vanity of vanities indeed!
ReplyDeleteVelvet and beautiful embroidery, vintage fringed suede and copper is enough for me, Sheila! You look great. I hope the colleague who complained was decked out head to toe in sparkle themselves, otherwise they have no room to comment, right?! xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty shocked that these two pieces weren't made to go together. Or that they weren't made bespoke for you! That said, they suit you to a T and you look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteMissing my family these days as well. Just Dan and I now, but good memories warm!
