This will be my last post until after Christmas. To all my lovely blogland friends, a very Merry Christmas and Festy Festivus!
I have today and tomorrow off work, so today I planned a lovely personal shopping day with my friend Elaine in the quietest stores before Christmas: thrift stores.
Good walking boots, tights and simple pieces to slip on and off quickly. Minimal jewelry for snagging on things.

Since it's a bit chilly, I added my velvet blazer, velvet hat, and fingerless gloves. Of course I wore my Christmas trees!

Well. I had one of my best ever thrifting days! We spent over 5 hours doing just two big stores. Elaine got some lovely things (go back and get that emerald green dress!), but I feel like I totally scored. Check out this wool late 70s winter coat I got for $44.99:

Get out! It fits me like a glove.
Check out the details on the back of it:

The belt is actually stitched to the coat across the entire back, so it never looks messy. This is my perfect coat!
Coat (no label, vintage, thrifted), velvet blazer (RW & Co.), sweater (no label, consignment), skirt (Mexx, consignment), boots (Miz Mooz), hat (Shelley West), gold hoop earrings (gift from L), grey fingerless gloves (Parkhurst).
Wow - what a find - great style and great colour. Have a wonderful Christmas.

Great coat! It looks amazing on you.
ReplyDeleteThank you - I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas, too.
ReplyDeleteI love your velvet hat! That wasn't from Roberta's, was it?
Thanks, Jane! I hope your Christmas was super.

Thanks, Alison!
Wendy, me too!
Julia, I was so pleased with it. I hope your Christmas was very merry!
Thanks, FA!
Thanks, Kari! Yes, this is a hat from Roberta's, about 12 years ago.
I just stumbled onto your blog from Already Pretty. I am experiencing serious coat envy right now.
ReplyDeleteYour thrifted coat is perfection and I am seriously trying to justify how I might need fingerless gloves here in Dallas. It gets cold every once in a while. That's enough reason, right?
ReplyDeleteTHAT is an amazing coat.
ReplyDeleteLa Historiadora (wow, that's a mouthful), thank you so much for checking me out and leaving a comment! I really appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tina! I totally am in coat-love. You so need fingerless gloves, girl!
Thanks, Erin!
I love seeing how you dress when you thrift shop; good planning!
ReplyDeleteAnd what a great find. The color and fit is amazing!
Kristen, years of shopping has taught me well! I love this coat so much!
