Skulls and Bows

It's Monday, which has never been my favourite day of the week. I didn't like my outfit today either. I love the parts of it, but not the whole: Sorry about the light - it's the time of year. This is my skull sweater previously seen here, and this is a new blue skirt. I fell in love with the colour and the pouffy shape, but I think this outfit needed a belt to define the waist.
The cardigan got baggier as the day went on.

The stuff:
I love the shoes - they are so comfy. This is my second wear of them (last seen here).

Some new sparkly bits:
Jacob had a bunch of their jewelry on sale. The bracelet was $9 and the earrings were $3.50.

Cardigan (Kersh), skirt (Fenchurch), shoes (Jeffrey Campbell), jewelry (Jacob).

Weekend Outfit - WW Meeting

Went to my regular WW meeting for the first time in a couple of weeks. As always, I wore something nice and lightweight:
My new-ish teal cardi (last seen here, ha, with the same tights), my bright orange corduroy skirt (last seen here, scroll down - I am wearing that same necklace today, too), and flat shoes for walking.

I also wore my chartreuse jacket (last seen here) because it went so well with my new purse.
I also had long brown leather gloves on for the morning.

A shot of the purse:
The handles and the bottom of it are wood. It was on for 50% off, so I got it for $12.50.

Check out the cool pattern:
I think that green blob is supposed to be a dragon - rar!

Jacket (Alison Wonderland, consignment), cardigan (Kersh), skirt (Jacob Connexion, consignment) , shoes (Kenneth Cole Reaction, swap from Cat), necklace (Lavishy), earrings (gift from L).

Well, my exciting news for this weekend was going to be that we got a new kitten companion for Inigo, but it was not meant to be: no kittens at the SPCA for another month. I'm disappointed, but we'll go next month and get a new family member.

In the meantime, as I type this, Mr. Drooly-pants is sitting on my lap. Here he is when we got home last weekend and unpacked our Fluevogs:
Kitties and tissue - an unbeatable combination.

Heh, he's digging for mice:
There must be one there somewhere, buddy!

Leopard Lovers of the World, Unite! (aka Tuesday WW Group)

Today's post is dedicated to one of my favourite people on the Interwebs, Wendy Brandes. Not only does Wendy make the most gorgeous "take no prisoners" jewelry, but she is a fashion icon to me. Her recent post on her amazing leopard dress has inspired me to want to wear leopard in solidarity. Leopard has a tough rep at times.

So this coming Monday, I'm going to declare Leopard Week! Wear leopard one day, two days, however many you want - and wear it however you want! Let me know if you're going to participate!

As a warm-up, today I did leopard legs: I know you can barely see them, but they were very noticeable when I walked, and because people were checking out my boots. I picked up these tights at Le Chateau ($9.99 marked down from $25). They're footless (they're not leggings!) which I like with boots because they wear longer (no blown toes).

Anyway, the boots are the ones I bought on the weekend (worn here). I had to wear them again - they are so amazing. Hilariously, I saw another woman who was wearing the same ones! Same colour! Crazy!

The dress is also new-to-me. I got this at a consignment shop a few weeks ago for $25. It's wool, fully lined and has pockets (always a bonus).
The collar folds over to make sort of a stand-up cowl - it has three buttons on the back that do up above the slit at the upper back.

This is just one of my skinny tees under it. The way the shoulders are cut on this dress, I can't do a regular bra with it and it's a bit gapey in the armholes, so I'll probably always wear a top under it.
I like the loose cut of the dress - it's not my usual hourglass silhouette, but is still funky. You can sort of see the big single box pleat on the front, at the dropped waist.

Here's a better shot of the top half:
Isn't that a neat collar?

The stuff:
Good golly, those are awesome boots.

Dress (Club Monaco, consignment), tee (Kersh), tights (Le Chateau), boots (Miz Mooz), watch necklace (Plum), earrings (gift from L).

When in Leopard

Today, I worked downtown at another WW meeting - I was feeling a bit down on my other meetings and things in general this week (hormonal), and the ladies who work there gave me hugs, so I felt better. I also find that interacting with people and chatting with them perks me up, although, oddly, by nature I'm much more solitary. It's like I have to recharge my "social batteries."

Leopard also puts a little spring in my step:
This is all remixed, nothing new. I last wore the skirt here, and I marvelled again this time at how nice and plushy.

Tossed on my bright green cardi (last seen here, scroll down) and a belt and voila, easy outfit.

Of couse, when in leopard one must emulate Wendy:
Ooh, Wendy's pose makes my ankles look nice.

The stuff:
Shoes I've had for so long that I can't remember what brand they are (the label is completely worn off).

I find I'm wearing a lot less accessories since I've been out of work. I wear less bracelets for the WW meetings (they're distracting). My shoes are a lot more practical as well. Ah, well, all the more reason to go over the top a bit when I go out!

Speaking of...I'm going out for dinner and to a burlesque with my sweetie this weekend. Are you doing anything special for V-Day?

Cardigan (Kersh), cami (Esprit), belt (Plum), skirt (S & D, thrifted), shoes (unknown), earrings (gift from L).

Tuesday WW Group - Teal, Birds and Fluevog Classics

Today's meeting was about paying attention to your body's hunger clues, as well as emotional vs. physical hunger. This is a big topic for me, as, frankly, I'm a glutton. I love to eat. This past weekend was a big challenge (as it is every year): Super Bowl! I totally oinked out: 7 beers (began at 3pm, so I paced myself), chips galore. I even ate a couple of Pizza Pops! They were disgusting.

Sometimes I just need to remind myself why I don't eat crap anymore. It's sort of like a reverse of cleansing your palette. I've had my fill of junk for a while.

I shared this little story while wearing this:
I'm aware that there's a blazer thing on this week in Fashion Nation, but I would have roasted in a blazer today - it is mild and sunny out! I need to take some pictures of the snowdrops.

This skirt is new to me - I picked it up yesterday in the thrift store for $14.50. I love this cut of skirt and just got rid of a couple with this same tulip shape. Not that I need another black skirt. *sigh* I'm addicted to them.
This particular skirt does nice things for my bum. Hee. It's wool with a fine pinstripe.

These tights never photograph the correct colour - they are teal, not blue.

The stuff:
My favourite pair of Fluevogs. They are one of the few things in my closet that I got pre-blog that I still wear. I've worn them a whole bunch of times, going back to 2008.

A close-up of the birdies:
I love the simple shapes.

Sweater (Kersh), skirt (Alfani, thrifted), shoes (Fluevog "Listen Up Harlow"), belt (Plum), necklace/earrings (Lavishy).
