Bronze and Tweedy Bell

This past weekend's time change has done me in. It was brutal getting up this morning for work.
Better wear some armour!

  • Leather jacket - Burberry, consignment; last worn here in December 2021 for a walk at Elk Lake with Mom
  • Sweater - Tatyana, thrifted; last seen here in January with houndstooth, pink and green
  • Skirt - M by Missoni, consignment; purchased here for $24.00
  • Boots - Aldo, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in February for a weekend shop
  • Sleeveless coat (below) - Only, thrifted; last seen here a couple of weeks ago

This is one of the last not-yet-worn jackets in my closet.
It's not one I grab for that frequently, as I usually wear it as the sole piece of outerwear.

All that shiny bronze leather! It requires careful planning - like wearing it with my new-to-me M by Missoni skirt.
I like how the nipped in waist accentuates the bell shape of the skirt. The woven textile looks very tweedy in pictures. I'm okay with that.

Without the jacket, although I didn't take it off.
I loved the skirt (wish it had pockets!) but it was very short.

Fortunately, I realized that before I left the house - I pulled on a pair of wee black shorts over my tights.
Locked and loaded - I only buttoned up for my outerwear layer.

I threw my sleeveless coat on over the leather.
It was quite chilly and windy in the morning, but we had sun by afternoon.

Accoutrements:
I needed a hat so grabbed the gold toque.

  • Scarf - Forele, consignment
  • Gloves - Thinsulate, thrifted
  • Toque (not shown) - Zara, consignment

And I ended up not liking it, so it's in the giveaway. Toque, what toque?

The stuff:
Without a zipper, these are Commitment Boots. Once they are laced on, they're not coming off. I walked to and from work in them.

Bronze bling:
This necklace reminds me of my long-gone colleague Dom who gave me a bunch of stuff from her closet, including this necklace.

  • Necklace - All Saints, gift from Dominique
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Brass ring - vintage mall
  • Feather ring - Fossil, thrifted
  • Bronze ring - P. Sarpaneva, vintage 70s, vintage expo

  1. This is an outfit that shines! I like the proportions and, as you noted, the jacket highlights those of the skirt. And the sparkle! To my eye the tweed seems to sparkle; maybe it’s the influence of the jacket. ;)

As for the toque, am glad you are parting ways with it because the color was, again to my eye, meh, it is too washed out.

I like the lines of this outfit, both with the sleeveless coat and without. And short skirts speak to the coming of spring!

    Cheers, Laurie

    1. Thanks so much, Laurie! The tweed does sparkle! It has big gold threads woven throughout it.

Agreed, I don't like it either.

Ha! Yes, and I'm wearing another short skirt today!

  2. That jacket is my favorite thing in your closet! Every outfit you have ever styled with it looks sassy and today is no exception.

    1. It almost feels sticky - the patent leather is soft, but it sticks to itself, kind of like cling-wrap.

  4. Ah, that bronze jacket is fantastic, and looks absolutely perfect with the cute bell-shaped skirt. It looks very short indeed, so I'm sure the wee black shorts were a necessity :-)
Eek, you've had your time change already ... ours is only at the end of the month - definitely not looking forward to it! xxx

    1. The length of the tweedy skirt is VERY short, which is another reason why I didn't buy it at full price. My little shorts are a life-saver!

It's been awful this week - I feel like I'm jet-lagged! I hope yours goes well, Ann!

  5. That bronze leather is fabulous with that sweet little skirt! I despise that clock change, I think ours is in a fortnight's time, it's always a sign that the weather takes a turn for the worst! xxx

    1. Thanks, Vix! We're trying to do away with the time change, but we/Canada is following the US (imagine going north/south and having to change your clock!), so it's still happening.

Yup, spring weather ahead! As we say here, "If you don't like the weather, just wait 10 minutes."

  6. Perhaps stimulated by your reference to armour, both front and back of this outfit remind me of an attractive look from Medieval times. The skirt/tights/boots contribute to that impression.

  7. The bronze leather is a thing of beauty! I would love to see a photo of your wardrobe!
I too wish they would stop tinkering with the clock. x

  8. I am glad we don't do daylight savings, I think it would be a bit disconcerting losing all that time, haha! I really do like that jacket and skirt together, you are right that they are a wonderful combination :)
