New clothes always provide me with motivation to mix and match, and see how they fit with my wardrobe.
This blouse is the new-to-me item that I built this outfit around. I like wearing new things immediately so that I can get a feel for them. If they don't work, then I just put them in the Giveaway Pile and move on.
- Blouse - T. Babaton, consignment; purchased here for $32.00
- Skirt - Talbots, consignment; first seen here in January with burgundy and black
- Shoes - Groovy Aubrey, Fluevog; last worn here in May with blue birds and orange tiger
- Jacket (below) - Club Monaco, thrifted; last seen here a couple of weeks ago
So far, I'm feeling good about this blouse. I love the colour mix of periwinkle/lavender and bright orange. It's feminine without being too frilly.
The buttons did not pop open, and it didn't come untucked. It's a very thick and opaque silk - that seems to be rare these days.
I struggled a bit to figure out what to wear with it. The shoes were the easy part - what goes in the middle?
I ended up with this woven black and white houndstooth skirt, on its second wearing (and first of the spring/summer season).
I liked how this looked in person - the orange really pops - but small patterns never photograph well.

Masked up.
What would you wear with this blouse? I have a couple of ideas for next time, but I'd love to hear from you. Do tell!

Outerwear:
It's a mere 14 degrees out there, so even though it's sunny, I was still glad I'd worn a coat and a scarf.

Accoutrements:
My scarf is a tourist fake designer souvenir from Italy, the kind of thing you pick up from street vendors. It is 100% silk and is from the early to mid-00s. I found it years ago at WIN for $3.95.

I think it would be a good fit with boss lady pants. I know you shop consignment and the pieces are a bargain compared to new, but I'd struggle spending so much on something that may not work. I do need to up my wardrobe though.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Sam. I think also my white jeans would work. I know, it's $32.00 - that's nothing to sneeze at. Sometimes it's hard to tell how something will work out until you've worn it a few times, though.
DeleteI am a sucker for a houndstooth print! It always looks so elegant and feminine! Fantastic skirt!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outfit. I would pair this blouse with one of your maxi skirts, maybe the golden or bronze pleated one.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I would do gold/warm tones with this, Ivana, but I trust your artistic eye.
DeleteLovely outfit and what a fabulous colour combination in the new to you blouse. I think the houndstooth skirt was a brilliant idea and can only suggest more black and white patterning (small); lavender/purplish shades or oranges/russets.
ReplyDeleteIt seems odd seeing you wearing coats and scarves when we are sweltering here...

I personally love orange. Don't think it loves me.
ReplyDeleteI cannot help it, I have to go through your posts in a hurry. A weeks holiday and only having one eye left to see at the moment (cataract surgery on right eye this morning) and sooo much to catch up upon...Greetje
ReplyDeleteLovely blouse.
ReplyDeleteLove the blouse, it's very you and looks awesome on you! White was my first thought as well--pants, or a white skirt. A compatible shade of orange could be good but I really like the idea of indigo or cobalt (or denim?), possibly with a silver accent. I don't think I'd put solid black with it, actually. Too "heavy". I could see a deep blue or silver skirt, with those shoes or a dreamier pair--don't you have some swirly white/gray 'vogs?--and a white leather jacket. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cute blouse on you! I really like it with this skirt - I can see it working with lots of other skirts that you have in your wardrobe too - although of course I'd stick with the standard black and white if I was wearing it myself. Do you have anything navy? I like pairing blue with more blue!
ReplyDeleteI actually gave up most of my navy - I wasn't reaching for it. I do still have my pouffy navy skirt with orange floral embroidery, and I'd paired this blouse with that skirt initially. I may still do that, maybe the next time I wear the blouse.
DeleteI do love a bow blouse! I think you are much better at puttinb together outfits than me so I will leave it to you!
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing that pussybow blouse with your red Boss Lady pants. xxx
ReplyDeleteGood call, Vix!
DeleteI love that pussybow blouse and I think Vix is right and it would look fabulous with your red Boss Lady pants! It's looking super cute with that skirt as well, and I'm loving how your shoes echo the colour of the blouse's bow! xxx
