Back Matching

I have a good supply of planned outfits for the next week or so - it was a pleasure to be able to pick out what I wanted to wear today.
First outfit with this new-to-me skirt, which went surprisingly well with my t-style top.

  • Blouse - Hoss, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) in April 2021 with black and more mustard
  • Skirt - Alberta Ferretti, vintage, thrifted; purchased here for $14.95
  • Shoes - Summertime Moonbeams, 2007 Fluevog, consignment; last worn here in April in a very profesh look
  • Jacket (below) - Club Monaco, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit)

"There's something wrong with the sky," I said to L after I came in from doing my stair picture this morning.
"It's blue!"

I spied a member of our local seagull family chilling out on the building next door.
"Buzz off."

Sadly, while the blue skies and the big glowing light in the sky were there for my walk to work, by the time I was off, it was a solid, gloomy white sky again. Sigh. Will we ever get our spring, or are we headed straight into summer?

Anyway, enough whining.
I don't usually gravitate to taupes or tan or whatever this colour is, but it worked so well with the top.

The top has t-shirt fabric (the brown) on the sleeves, but the rest of it is silk.
The flowers have sequins sewn on them here and there for a bit of sparkle.

But this is what I loved: the back!
Such a perfect match! How can I NOT wear these together every time?

Masked up.
The skirt was lovely to wear, although it wrinkled like mad, front and back. It's a standing skirt.

Outerwear.
I felt a little silly wearing this in the sun in the morning, but by afternoon I was glad of both the jacket and the scarf.

Accoutrements:
I love the lily pads.

  • Scarf - Lanvin, vintage 70s, consignment
  • Mask - Lazy Susan's

The stuff:
Another pair of blocky platforms from around the same era (2007-2008) as yesterday's shoes - and they are also supremely comfy. However, I'll be wearing flatter shoes tomorrow to let my feet recover.

Minimal bling:
A mix of old and new.

  • Choker - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Copper cuff - Matisse by Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage expo
  • Bracelet/earrings - Alexis Bittar, consignment, gift from L

  1. There's nothing more uplifting than waking up to blue skies, is there? Your castle looks even better in sunshine.
How fantastic is that almost continuous stripe from your top and skirt when you turn around? That's so clever! xxx

  2. If say the shirt and skirt found each other. The castle looks gorgeous with the blue sky.

  3. Oh, the castle looks very fairy-tale like in that photo, and isn't it a joy to be met with a brilliant blue sky first thing? Ours has reverted to grey, unfortunately.
And talking of brilliant, that's exactly what this outfit is. The skirt and top are just perfect together. Shame about the wrinkling though ... xxx

  5. What a gorgeous outfit!
The top, skirt and scarf were all amazing finds,
and they all look like they were made to be worn together!
That seagull looks very content settled atop the chimney. :-)

  6. I love all the lines of that blouse! And it's nice when they make an effort on the back, too!

  7. I really like the two pieces together - and the fact that they both have the black panel on the back is so fun! They are definitely meant to be paired together!

  8. The skirt and shirt were definitely made for each other.
