PANK, Zebra and a Black Skirt

I was reminded with my pop of marigold yellow in yesterday's outfit how important it is to include colour in my ensembles. I always keep some brights out in my fall/winter wardrobe specifically with the purpose of cheering myself up through Colour Therapy.
So today, we have...PANK. It's so pink...it's PANK.

This wool moto jacket is one of my favourites in my closet. I adore the rock & roll cut of it, the thick wool, the matching pink satin lining and of course, that glorious colour.

  • Jacket - Gap, consignment, Vancouver; last worn here in November 2021 with pink and red
  • Shirt - Yest; last seen here in December 2021, layered under mustard
  • Bustier - Wrapper, vintage 90s, thrifted; first worn here in April 2021 with lemon and spots
  • Skirt - Ronen Chen, thrifted; purchased here for $23.95
  • Shoes - 5yMedio; last seen here in November 2021 with red plaid and wings
  • Coat (below) - L'Atiste, consignment, Vancouver; last worn here a couple of weeks ago

This is the first wearing of this new-to-me black skirt by Ronen Chen. I had vague ideas to paint on it or decorate it when I first bought it, but those urges have passed. I like the sewn folds and tucks down the front - I felt like I was wearing a cocoon or some kind of carapace.
The skirt is too big on me, however, and I have a kajillion black skirts, so I'll likely put it in the giveaway pile for someone else to enjoy. No need to decide this minute.

I appear to have forgotten to do my back view picture. Ah, well. Use your imagination.

I matched my jacket and tights, and layered this funky zebra bustier over a basic white shirt. I didn't take the jacket off all day - it's part of the outfit - but I thought you might like to see it without.
The skirt portion of the outfit could be swapped for any black solid. I would wear this with my Adidas tulle skirt or my black leather pants, for example.

Masked up:
You know I had to match the bustier since I have a zebra-striped mask.

Outerwear:
More black and white.

Accoutrements:
My pink set.

  • Fur boa - thrifted
  • Cashmere beret - Club Monaco, thrifted
  • Leather gloves - consignment

The stuff:
I've realized I need a pair of black and white shoes. I've been peeking into the spring/fall Fluevog collection and there are some definite possibilities there (and gift cards to spend!). I love these white ones, though - they've been a good purchase so far. That's a really comfortable heel.

Bold bling:
And a couple of snakes and a cat, just for fun.

  • Necklace - Zsiska, gift from Mom
  • Snake brooch - c. 1985, gift from Mom & Dad
  • Wood cat pin - Charmaine's
  • Snake ring - c. 1986, BC Museum Gift Shop
  • Silver/onyx ring - Toccara, vintage fair
  • Silver earrings - Israel, consignment

Are you deploying Colour Therapy to chase away the greys?

  1. What a shame that skirt is too big, I love the clever origami-type folds but there's nothing worse than a waistband that twizzles round and having to comstantly tuck in your shirt.
The pank is a perfect antidote to the Winter gloom.
How cute is that weeny cat pin? xxx

    1. I like it too, Vix, so much that I might hang onto it. It doesn't twirl on me, it's just baggy.

Thank you! I love the wee black cat.

  2. Here cheers for colour therapy! Yes, I try to deploy it in my tops and dresses. Haven’t mustered the courage (yet) to be bold with tights or leggings.

Here’s to snuggling in warmth and appreciating color against the whites and grays of winter!

    1. Hurray! I have to make the effort to put colour in my outfits, Laurie. I appreciate the "mustered" (mustard?? eh? eh?) pun, even if you didn't intend it, ha ha! Being bold with leggings and tights is an easy (and cheap) way to get a colour fix.

Snuggling, for sure. If Vizzini is willing!

  3. I love your black, white and pank combination! Brights definitely help to lift one's mood. I should remember this more. . . Another reminder of this is looking up as I type this comment to see one of the neighborhood hummingbirds visiting our front porch feeder. I always find it interesting that depending on the angle of light hitting them, they look dark grey or their brilliant fluorescent green and PANK shine brightly! Wouldn't it be fun to have clothes that did this?

    1. Thank you, Linda! I know, it seems like we should know this by now, but choosing colour isn't an instinctual thing. Oh, how lovely you have hummingbirds! One visited us on Sunday at Book Club - its head plumage was bright red! I would love clothes that changed colour like that.

  4. I love the skirt with its folds and tucks, what a shame it is too big on you! I'm sure you'll make someone very happy with it though. The starring role here, of course, is that PANK moto jacket, closely followed by the zebra bustier. And of course you've got a matching mask. I'd have been quite disappointed if you hadn't ;-)
All that pink (and PANK) is just perfect for brightening up gloomy days!
Gorgeous bling too, the tiny cat pin is so cute! xxx

    1. I will probably pass it along, but we'll see, Ann. I did really like wearing it. I adore the moto jacket. Of course, you knew I'd have a matching zebra mask!

This bright is one of the best ways to chase away the gloom. Thank you!

  5. I agree about adding the colours. Also, in my case, fun animal jumpers make me feel good too! I saw a poster/article about Dopamine Dressing today which made me think of you!

  6. Loving the Pank! I love the boldness of the look! Took a page from your colour therapy book and wore a lilac mixed lighter wool long sweater today. Just the lift I need over the basic black drab I wore underneath, my coworkers loved the colour addition, it seems I’ve been wearing a lot of black lately.

  7. Such a happy outfit. Just seeing all those colours makes me happy...the skirt, the boa, the tights, the jackets and the gloves- so many beautiful shades of pink and red.

  9. Thank you for reminding me (and the rest of us) of just how sensational a strappy top or cami can look over a tailored blouse. It has been a hot minute since I last sported that combo and you've inspired me to do so again ASAP.

    1. I love this layered look, which is probably so dated by now (it's very 90s/early 00s) that it's in fashion again! Thank you!
