Stripes, Red and New Poncho for the Periodontist

I'm not sure what possessed me to book today's periodontist appointment this early in January - I guess I wanted to get it over with for another 5 months - but it felt like a Major Effort today.

Clothing As Armour to the rescue!
I'm surprised at how versatile this striped dress has been since I bought it at Dots last spring.

  • Dress - InWear; last worn here in September 2021 for a gaming night at Cat/Ross'
  • Shoes - Prepare 2.0 Tracker, Fluevog; last seen here in October 2021 for brunch
  • Coat (below) - Danier Leather, consignment; last worn here in December 2021 for some holiday shopping
  • Poncho (below) - Bodybag by Jude, consignment, gift from L; received here for Christmas 2021 (it was $62.00)

This is its 3rd wearing and I chose to accessorize this time with more black and bits of red.
I'm wearing thick sweater tights, and a full vintage slip under it for extra warmth.
Masked up.
And I wore double outerwear.
I really wanted to wear my new-to-me poncho, but it's too cold to wear it on its own, so I layered it over my thermal Danier leather jacket.
I was able to wear my usual black leather backpack under this, although it was awkward sitting on the bus.

I took the ear-muffs off later, as they fought with my headphones.
Music wins. I really liked the pattern-mixing of this full ensemble.

Accoutrements:
A silk scarf for protecting my neck.

  • Scarf - Elaine Gold, vintage, Lazy Susan's
  • Ear muffs - Michael Kors, consignment
  • Gloves - Echo, consignment
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
Easy shoes for walking from the bus to the periodontist office. I treated myself to a Vogue magazine while I sat in the office and waited for my happy pill to kick in.

Bold bling:
These pieces please me.

  • Necklace - Zsiska, gift from Mom
  • Bakelite bracelet - vintage, gift from L, vintage mall
  • Silver/onyx ring - Toccara, vintage fair
  • Earrings - Tania Gleave, Granville Island

My freezing is starting to wear off, and I'm feeling sleeeeepy...*yawn* See y'all later...

  2. I like the tartan and stripes mix too, the red is so nice with the black and white stripes! You've got me thinking, I have a black and white striped tee dress and I don't think I've ever worn it with red yet! Need to try change that!

  4. Your outfit is superb! I hope the periodontist appointment was equally successful. The dress is a perfect jammy dress and I am always a fan of red highlights/accessories. Laughing, though, at your use of the word "easy" when describing walking in these boots, even as I presume it was a fairly short walk from the bus stop to the periodontist's office. I know, the shoes aren't really as high on the inside as they look on the outside, but still!
Here's to a comfy winding down from the treatment and in hopes you awoke after a sound night's sleep!

  5. The stripes and tartan is a brilliant combination, I love it.
Hope you're okay and had a lovely sleep. Still no non-emergency dental appointments avaiable here, it's been 2 years since I last saw one! xxx

  6. I bet clothing as armour was a bare necessity for your periodontist appointment, and I also bet that you're glad it's over with for another 5 months!
That striped dress with its dropped waist looks absolutely fabulous on you, and I love its interaction with the tartan poncho. Gorgeous bling too, I'm loving the necklace in particular.
I hope you had a nice sleep. I'm feeling quite sleepy too in the aftermath of my booster. The same thing happened two days after I got my second one. It'll be early zzzs for me today! xxx

  8. Love the cape; it’s fabulous.
Great that you can get wear out of it by layering.

Hope the armour made your visit easier.
My dental check up is tomorrow morning..now what shall I wear..

  9. I love your black, white and red ensemble, and it does look very comfortable and practical for a day in the periodontist's office. These are colors that are meant to go together, and just "spark" together.

I "discovered" how fabulously red and black combine in outfits when I was in junior high--half a century ago, for goodness sake. I remember thinking how very original I was, not realizing there was a wider world of fashion, lol. Sadly, I also remember being teased (or was it criticized!) about this combination--I was told that only "cheap" girls or even prostitutes wore red and black together. Ugh. So not true, and so misogynist, I realized as an adult. I proudly wear red and black together whenever I want, of course!

  10. Very versatile dress but the plaid cape takes the cake for me in this post. How clever to wear it over you leather jacket.

  13. What a fantastic outfit! I adore the subtle 1920s vibe that both the drop waist and overall length of this awesome stripped dress (which I would wear faster than one could say "Beetlejuice" :D) telegraphs.
