Double Brown Down and Purple Boots

Oh, I am starting to feel like myself again, my friends, and what a relief that is! L is one week behind me being sick, so a quiet weekend and we should be ourselves again.
I had fun wearing this outfit today - I don't have many opportunities to wear this skirt, so I leaped at the chance.

  • Sweater - Morena, consignment; first seen here in October 2018 with the bark skirt
  • Skirt - Wei Peng Padding Down, thrifted; last worn here (5th outfit) in November 2018 for Winesday
  • Boots - Prepare Map, Fluevog; last seen here in October 2018 with a rainbow patchwork sweater
  • Coat (below) - Tahari, thrifted; last worn here

I'm done with this sweater - the novelty factor has worn off and now that I've worn it twice, I'm bored with it. Ah, well, it was worth the $10. It's cheaper than going to a movie.
I'm still feeling the love for this skirt - my sleeping bag skirt! It is indeed nylon quilted with down feathers.

So you can imagine how very WARM it is to wear. See what I mean about limited wear?
It really was fun to show it off to my colleagues who hadn't seen it before.

It has pockets!
The two ties at the bottom can be pulled tighter to create ruching, but the quilted and padded nature of the skirt means that it looks very odd. No, I'm not going to show you. (I know, I am mean).

Outerwear - it continues to be freaking FREEZING here in Canada's Florida.
I had to pair this down-filled brown coat with the skirt - they are a perfect match. I love the wonderful warmth of a down puffer, but I really do wish this was a bright red or blue or something. Why must brown outerwear be poo-coloured?

  • Cashmere beret - Club Monaco, thrifted
  • Fur scarf - thrifted
  • Leather gloves - consignment

The stuff:
The sweater has some purple fabric edging the neckline so I did purple boots. These are lovely and comfy, and I'm very tall in them. The laces are real strips of leather, ended with orange wood bobbles (you can see them in the above pics). I have to keep them tucked away from "someone."

Brown bling:
I realized after I'd taken my pictures this morning that I had forgotten to put my earrings on for all of them (I put earrings on last so that they don't heat up when I dry my hair). I did wear them!

  • Chain bracelet - thrifted
  • Tortoiseshell bracelet - J. Crew, thrifted
  • Earrings - LA Express, c. 1994

  3. you look cozy and adorable in your amazing boots and fab skirt, such an interesting texture (and pockets!)!. It's a difficult to style piece, but it looks fabulous and warm!!. Even if we live in mild climates we need some cozy clothes for those freezing days!

    1. Yes, it's a tricky piece, and not just because of the down/quilting. I have a few pieces like this, that only get worn when it's REALLY cold.

  4. What an interesting skirt, but I have to admit I'm breaking out in a sweat at the thought of wearing it, especially paired with that down filled coat. But then again, we don't have your freezing weather. It was especially mild here today, with 10°C. I know! Those boots are utterly fabulous, such a gorgeous colour. Phoebe would love them too ;-) xxx

    1. It was -4 this morning, Ann! We are usually hovering around 10 at this time of year as well. Kitties just love the shoelaces, don't they? :)

  5. Your outfit is so visually interesting and I think very tactilely interesting (I know that's not a word but never mind!). The skirt is very, very funky!

    1. Tactilely is totally a word (ignore the computer dictionary - it's often missing words)! Thank you, Kezzie!

    1. Thanks, I am happy with my decision. You can do that here too, but not if you get popcorn!

  8. Poo coloured skirt too Sheila and for once I'm gonna say it's not to my taste. But hey, we can agree to disagree can't we? I think you deserve something more flattering, but honestly what does it matter. I saw a great statement on Instagram recently - "Your opinion of me is none of my business." Much as I totally love this, where would that leave us regarding feedback from our readers? x

    1. I agree, I wish it was a different colour, Anna. Yes, of course we can disagree! How boring if we always liked everything. I still like the skirt - for now!
