In the Pink...For a Monday

Two new-to-me items in today's outfit, and both of them are pink!
Why, yes, that is a salamander on my shoulder!

  • Cardigan - Theory, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in May with swooshy greens
  • Top - INC, thrifted; purchased here for $6.50
  • Skirt - Club Monaco, thrifted; last worn here in May with blue velvet boots and a long sweater
  • Shoes - Effortless Vivian, Fluevog; last seen here in April in a winning combo

This was a good outfit for Monday. Nothing too fussy, lots of bling to distract from me being tired.
I like the pink top. It's fine - I have a collection of tops like this, purchased specifically for layering and ease of washing.

I'm very fond of the skirt - I like the crackly pattern.
The cardigan is wool and is not white, even though there's white in the skirt and the shoes.

Eh, close enough.
 Just give me another coffee.

The stuff:
I love these shoes - very comfy!

Sparkly bling:
I pinned the salamander brooch up quite high, so that it would look like it was climbing my shoulder. I took the recommendation from the lady who sold it to me, to pin it through both garments (or use a scrap of fabric under the topmost item) so that it doesn't pull the fabric from the weight of the brooch. What a good tip!

  • Salamander pin - vintage fair, first wear, purchased for $35.00
  • Earrings/necklace - Sherman, vintage 60s, thrifted
  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

  1. I really like that skirt too - it would work with pretty much every colour you can imagine (except for maybe brown). The salamander brooch is definitely a statement piece.

    1. It has bits of pink, blue and even yellow and orange in it - it's a good pattern. I'm looking forward to doing the brooch on a jacket too.

  5. Smart to position the (crawling) salamander there and equally smart tip on pinning it to avoid drooping. I've wondered about that with heavy brooches.

  7. What a great tip about the brooch. I love the pink on you and think it’s a perfect combination with the blue shoes and crinkly pattern skirt . LOVE that skirt!
I love insects and little critters in my brooches... I have no reason why that is. But I thought I would share that tidbit. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

    2. A bit of logic gives often goes a long way. I am so glad that I am not the sole fan of bugs and snakes..,then again, some of my favorite, but unattainable designers, do lots of bugs, butterflies and snakes....I think we may be on to something. Mhaw!

    3. Snake designs were popular in the Victorian era! It's not a new thing by any means! I see lots of bugs and things at vintage fairs.

Good tip about the double layer brooch pinning- I quite often have a problem with weighty brooches! The sparkles are lovely and so are the shoes!!!!

  10. Oh that brooch looks so good on! I wasn't sure how big it would be but it's a wonderful size - and plays nicely with your sparkly necklace too! I really like this outfit Sheila! I tried a pencil skirt and cardigan outfit recently and didn't love it but I'm going to give it a go again soon I think! You make it look so easy!
