A better day! Let's celebrate! Fringe for all!
Those of you who've been reading my blog for a few years or more may recall that I had a long love affair with all things "cowgirl". This skirt is one of the pieces I've kept.
- Shirt - Ralph Lauren, consignment; first worn here in January with red and bows
- Skirt - Pioneer Wear, vintage 80s, vintage fair; last seen here (2nd outfit) exactly a year ago in Feb 2016, with a tropical bomber
- Boots - Prepare Guide, Fluevog; last worn here (3rd outfit) for an all-grey weekend outfit in November 2016
- Coat (below) - Danier Leather
Okay, I also have red cowboy boots and some shirts that are rather cowgirl-ish. Are black and white plaid with ruffles considered cowgirl?
I had fun wearing this, though. The skirt is noisy when I walk, with the fringe slapping against the boots.
Vizzini has chomped on this skirt - it has to be stored way up high in my closet where he can't reach it.
Outerwear:
I remembered a hat today...but it didn't rain or snow! Hat is Jones New York (thrifted), gloves are Danier Leather, and that's my usual fur thrifted boa.
The stuff:
I love these boots - they are so wonderful and weird (kinda like me). The moths have been after them - I had to clean a bunch of moth gunk off them. Mr. Vizzini hasn't been doing his job on Moth Patrol!
Badass bling:
Did you notice the zipper rose? I wore it at the top of the shirt buttons.

That skirt is ah-mazing! Love the checked shirt, with the ruffles and rose at the throat, super clever,. Also love them boots, those heels! :)

DeleteI wanted to let you know Pioneer Wear was a clothing manufacturer in Albuquerque, New Mexico that made western style clothing in the late 70's through the 80's. The time frame is approximate and I remember wishing I could afford their items even though they probably would have been considered reasonably priced. You could go to the warehouse and buy some items there. Sheila, muchisimas gracias for being a frequent part of my daily me time and bringing me joy and inspiration.

It's funny, I've had a hankering for a black and white gingham shirt/blouse and was, only today, looking at some men's black and white gingham shirts...I didn't buy any - yet!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your sweet comment on my blog too! I think although you may have more items than me you tend to manage your wardrobe better. You have a knack for knowing what pieces work together and frequently get rid of things that no longer work to make way for new ones. I too often hold onto things and let things go unworn longer than I should. I definitely need to try owning what I love and getting rid of the excess that doesn't help!
Good eye, Mica! My wardrobe ruthlessness goes back to the year when I did a "one in, one out" thing. Because I love shopping, I had to really give things a hard look if I wanted to buy another "like" item. It's kept me from having the closet get out of control. I'm really enjoying reading about your journey and challenge, even if I don't comment on every post! Thank you!

Well, thank you so much, my dear Anna! I don't wear the skirt that often, but I do love it, and it's still a keeper (although it keeps shedding fringe). Aw, that is the nicest thing to say, thank you. I am a bit of a spazz in real life, a drama queen, but my drama blows over quickly and I'm usually able to get back on an even keel within a day or two. I try not to let those little dramas get into the blog, and focus on what I really enjoy about blogging, which is these friendships and connections. Hugs to you.
