Back to work today. I wish I could have taken the rest of the week off, but I still had to do my WW meeting tonight, so what the heck. Go to work.
I mostly moaned at people and warned them to stay away. "I have the plague!"- Sweater - Gap, thrifted; purchased here last weekend (pre-plague) for $5.00
- Skirt - Mexx, consignment; first worn here in November 2016 with corporate purple
- Shoes - Coclico; last seen here in January with another corporate look
- Coat (below) - Parkhurst, thrifted
I've had this outfit set aside since Saturday, and I was happy to wear it today. I loved all the textures (the dotty tights, the tie-material skirt, the stripes, the pearls). Isn't the sweater a good fit? I always go for fit, even though a white and magenta sweater wasn't on my wish list.
I quite adore this skirt - there is something about the fit-and-flare that just makes my heart sing. It also has pockets!
Outerwear:
A little windy but not too cold. I didn't need the hat, scarf or gloves walking home! Consignment beret, thrifted fur boa, and Danier gloves.
The stuff:
Oh, sweet magenta heels. Although I admit, it was hard to put these on after walking to work in my floral Doc Martens (so comfy!). My "real" shoes never go outside in the weather!
Pretty bling:
Today would have been my Dad's 75th birthday - that is his ring there, that he wore all the time. He died of a heart attack when he was 55 - it will be 20 years this fall. Happy Birthday, Dad! I wonder what he would have thought of me 20 years later. I bet he would have liked my hair, heh. He loved bright colours.
- Necklace - Vintage 60s, Grandma J's
- Ring - Dad's, Frances Jewelers, c. 1965
- Ear-balls - Mango's
While I was moaning and groaning and being a sicky over the past few days, I did my nails. As one does.
This is Rimmel's "Portobello Pink" and Sally Hansen's "Grape Shifter". I feel very pink, like candy. That may be the cold medication talking...
wowww, such a fabulous outfit, I love it!, love the color combo, the textures, the magenta stripes and magenta shoes, the polka dot tights, the fit&flare stunning skirt (and its pockets!!!) and I love even more all these things working together!
ReplyDeleteYour magenta shoes are such a luxurious detail! and your sweater fits you like a dream!
wish you feel better soon, dear lady!
besos
Thank you! It really lifted my spirits. Hugs to you, my dear.
DeleteI'm glad you're feeling a little better! :) I like the magenta matching too! I have a magenta bag and I don't really have anything to match it with - just a scarf. I do like wearing them together though.
ReplyDeleteGetting there...
DeleteHey, you need more magenta - and it looks great with blue and teal and red and grey...mostly everything. Go for it, Mica!
How lovely to have your dad's ring! It's beautiful. I love all the purple.
ReplyDeleteHoping you feel 100% soon. There seem to be some pretty tenacious viruses going around right now.
I have worn it many times over the years, thanks, JS. I'm getting there, probably be fine in a week.
DeleteI love magenta, very pretty shoes. The tights with the skirt.. well done. Now... could you mail me what it is supposed to be?: I am a fucking delicate flower? Or I am a delicate fucking flower? Or something else entirely? I forgot again. It is the age you see...
ReplyDeleteAnd I think it is very sad that you lost your dad so early in life.
Greetje
Thank you! I emailed you. It's "I'm a delicate fucking flower." It was sad, Greetje - I was just starting to get to know him as a person.
DeleteOh i really like this interesting pattern mix it flows from the bottom upward and yes that sweater has a really good fit.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lorena! It's one of my recent faves.
DeleteI love it all and it looks fabulous on you! Such a cheerful colour. Amazing shoes....

Thanks, Veronica!
DeleteThat sucks that you were sick. Wearing those marvelous magenta shoes would make anyone feel better.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was the suck (as the kids say). Bright colours make me happy!
DeleteYour dad would have been so proud of his kind, generous, outrageous, ballsy fashionista of a daughter. This outfit perfectly matched with his ring is a great homage to him Sheila.
ReplyDeleteThe sweater fits like a dream and I just adore all of the pattern play as well as those fab shoes.
