Monday Madness - Pattern and Blue Nails

Today was...a day. I can't even get into it. But it's over, and I'm home.
Dazzle them with pattern! Look at the crazy colours, not the tired lady!

  • Dress - A Dress Town Original, vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here in January with everything the same
  • Boots - Clarks; last worn here, also in January with another patterned dress
  • Coat (below) - Danier Leather, thrifted

I can tell when I'm tired because I just do an outfit that I've done before. The last time I wore this dress, everything was the same except for the tights, right down to the earrings.

Yup, it's a dress.
Good enough!

Outerwear:
Somehow I've managed to crop my hand off, so yeah, there's that. I'm wearing a little furry Danier scarf (thrifted) and mustard yellow Parkhurst fingerless gloves. I could have used a hat, as we had a freak snowstorm in the middle of the day! It's all gone now, but man, that was so bizarre.

The stuff:
Good boots.

Big ol' bling:
Big belt, big necklace.

  • Belt - Fendi, thrifted
  • Necklace - Nygard, consignment
  • Earrings - local
  • Ring - c. 1998

Vizzini and I had some cuddles on the benches this morning.
"Seriously, stay home. You'll wish you had."
Yeah, I definitely wish I'd stayed home today. Sorry for being cryptic, and be assured everything is fine at work, and I'm okay, but I just don't share everything on the blog. Suffice it to say, it was one of those days. The snow didn't help.

I did my nails last night while we watched the Oscars (wasn't that crazy at the end??). I didn't feature my nails last week because they were a colour I'd done before (green); however, I did start doing a quick-dry base coat, which made my polish last at least a day or two longer without looking crappy.
My base coat (like many of my polishes) is ancient - it's Revlon's "Top Speed". The blue polish is called "Brisk Blue" by Sally Hanson Insta-Dri.
I really liked the plain blue, but it started chipping right away. I am pretty "hands on" with everything I do, so that's to be expected, but I'd prefer it if my nails lasted longer than a day! This sparkling top coat really helps it last, so I did a quick touch-up of the blue and then one coat of sparkle.

I admit it, I love the sparkle!

  1. Snow never helps unless it's Christmas day. :-) It may be a rerun but you could call it one of your "Top Ten Greatest Hits" to put a snappier spin on it. Even someone as infinitely creative as you needs a handful of go-to looks. Too bad the day didn't live up to the dress's mojo. Looks great with the tights, or vice versa, btw.

    1. Thanks, Pam! Ha, we so rarely get snow on Christmas, too! Agreed, when an outfit works, it always works. Thank you.

  2. P.S. The nails! I forgot that the glitter topping is what prompted me to comment! Love that.

  3. How cheerful are sparkly nails?

The outfit is lovely and it doesn't matter you wore the same things before when they look that good!

Bad news about the snow - hope it's gone for good....

  4. I'm sorry about your day, I truly hope all ended up well. Would humming "Blue Monday" help (that's my answer to "those" Mondays)?
You looked fabulous, if that changes anything for the good!

  5. I can't think of better armour than this dress and big honkin' belt. Yep. And what's with this freakish weather?!! I have used many an expletive over it. The nail polish - oh yes, that is awesome, I am weak for the glitter. I hope things have moved on to an a more even keel now.

  7. That print dress is so fabulous, looks so NOW! Love the wide Fendi belt and boots! The pattern tights add a great bit of texture. So well done. Love your nails too, I also use sally hanson sometimes!

    1. Aw, thank you! And the dress is only 50+ years old! Ha! I agree, mistakes happen, even at the Oscars. I thought that the "La La Land" producer was very gracious about making sure it was rectified right away. Good for him.

    1. Thank you! It's amazing how a "shallow" thing like fashion or doing your nails can lift your spirits!

  10. Gosh you know I love that belt and that dress is superb, as is the look. Nails are always an interesting way to lift the spirits and anything with glitter has my immediate attention.
