So, yes, I did not go to work yesterday. I couldn't breathe, and I had barely slept. I got up, fired off an email to HR and my boss, and went back to bed. I needed that. I'm still sick today, and I probably should have stayed home another day.
But I didn't, and this is what I wore. This would have been Wednesday's outfit.- Jacket - Le Chateau, consignment; last seen here in December 2016 with gold dots
- Blouse - no label, vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here in December 2016 underneath stained glass
- Skirt - Club Monaco, consignment; last worn here in November 2016 with turquoise velvet
- Shoes - "I Know" Poetic Licence, gift from mother-in-law; last seen here in May 2016 with stripes and dots
- Unsafe Polar Bear Coat (below) - Apparence, thrifte
This outfit is actually a lighter variation of this outfit, which was one of my favourites of 2016. Same blouse/skirt combo, but this time with a cream blazer and shoes that read lighter. Through my groggy sickie stupor, I perceived that people at work liked this too.
It helps that this outfit is made up of many favourite items, right from the jacket to the shoes.
I somehow neglected to crop my outerwear picture, so here's a wide shot for ya. Note that my white floral Doc Martens are ready for me to change into for my walk to work. They are being worn daily - my cost-per-wear is down to about $4.00 a day already! They've been a dream to wear, and I get comments on them every day, not to mention that they are highly visible when I'm walking in early morning or early evening light.
It's cold and clear this week, so I grabbed the Unsafe Polar Bear, and my Danier fur/leather accoutrements. One of my coworkers was flabbergasted when she saw me in this (with my Docs on). "You're like...like...a movie star!" she said. Aw! I am - I star in my own movie every day.
Okay, that may be the cold medication talking. *ahem*
The stuff:
My first wearing of my "I Know" shoes since Carrie Fisher's death. Princess Leia forever!
Blue bling:
Makes it more fun when you know they got it on in real life, hee hee! |
- Earrings - local
- Pin - homegrown vintage 1986
- Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
On Tuesday night, I had Cat over to "test-drive" our outfits for the Big Dramatic Event happening tomorrow night. We had many giggles, much styling, and playing with Vizzini in and around my closet. Cat gave me a pair of her old boots!
They've Lucky Brand, all leather, and I love how the zip curves around the calf. Hurray for badass boots! I gave her a big bag of clothes from the giveaway pile - so fun!
I also redid my nails that night. That yellow was crap, and it's been turfed. This is my favourite nail polish. It's so GOLD.
I know this is at least 16-17 years old because I bought it for a Wine Fest where L and I dressed Super-Crazy. Oh, sure, I'll dig up the pictures, why not? Keep in mind, these are pictures of photos - no hi-def.
I see gold polish! |
It's hard to see here, but L is rocking a 10" afro of his REAL HAIR there. It was a phenomenon. People were in awe.
We are pretty pimpin', I must say. The top picture was taken at Swan's, our old hangout, and I am quite plastered there; the other pictures were taken in our library. Check out L's fur-trimmed vintage leather coat and snazzy two-toned loafers. He's also wearing a gold lion pendant and vintage 70s pants and Art Deco printed shirt.
Anyways, this nail polish and I go way back. I'll have to see if Rimmel still makes this colour - it's nearly empty!
It lasted till today with no chips, but I'm going to have to re-touch it for the Special Gala Event.
And with that, lovelies, I am off! Off on one grand adventure after another - it is a very busy weekend for me! I guarantee whackitude. See you on Sunday! Happy weekend!
Glad you're feeling better! I think it's good you got to wear some of your favourite pieces to give you a bit of a boost too. Enjoy your big event, hopefully you are back to 100% for it.
ReplyDeleteMe too, thanks, Mica! I hate getting sick, but at least I can look half-decent while I am.
DeleteBut of course, you ARE a movie star. Glad you're back on your feet. And it must have been fun hanging out with your friend swapping clothes and getting ready for the big event. And the photos - you and L certainly know how to do it up right every single time. And I'm glad you haven't lost your touch. As if... Snow everywhere here today. Gaaaa!!!
ReplyDeleteHeh, at least in my own mind, I am. It was a pretty short visit - I still wasn't feeling great (and missed the next day of work). Hee, I thought you would enjoy those! We've always been wacky! It's ice-raining here. Oh, joy.
DeleteLove your super crazy outfits! I'm a big fan of gold polish also, but I don't use any polish very often. Hope you are back to 100% soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Charlotte! Be ready for at least one fun outfit! I don't usually do my nails either - this is a mini-resolution for this year.
DeleteI loved the old photos of you and L - fabulous. The gold mail polish is beautiful and you have lovely nails.
ReplyDeleteThe new jacket looks wonderful and those shoes are just amazing - I don't think you showed us the side view before. Lovely friend's donated boots - just what you need Sheila - more boots!
Have a great weekend and hope you make a full recovery...
Thanks so much, Veronica! Feeling better! I know, I don't really need more boots, ha!
DeleteGreat pictures of your lovely outfit now, and the historical ones are so fun to see too. I hope that outfit gave you a lift to wear--with Carrie on your feet, how could you not be cheered, despite how you felt. Feel better soon! And have a fun weekend!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed them, Linda, thank you. Yes, whenever I wear favourite pieces, I always feel good. Clothes are great therapy.
DeleteLovely photos from back in the day!
ReplyDeleteI just cleared out at least a third of my nail polish collection, including a bunch of Rimmel bottles from 10+ years ago. They don't seem to make that really opaque one-coat stuff anymore--such great colors, too. Alas.
I saw today, as I bought a few new bottles, that Hard Candy has a gold shade that looks exactly like yours. Hard Candy is my current drugstore favorite.
I don't do my fingernails very often (mostly toes in the summer), but it is a treat once in a while. I put on some sheer shimmery stuff last weekend, and all week at work surprised myself with my twinkly digits.
Hee, I can't believe it's been so long! I've been going through my polishes and weeding them out - this is a fun little project. Ooh, thanks for the tip on Hard Candy - I haven't seen that brand here. I always do my toes in summer, but have really neglected my hands. It's such a nice pick-me-up!
DeleteAww I'm sorry to hear that you are sick :( I'm down with a cold myself right now, and it is NOT fun. I love your touches of metallic in this outfit, and that coat is so lovely too!
ReplyDeleteI seem to have gotten a fairly light dose of it - I've been lucky, so thank you! I hope you feel better soon.
DeleteYou rock, dear movie-star lady!, and I'm glad you're feeling better!, that fabulous outfit could cheer up the day for sure!
ReplyDeleteLove your shoes (as usual), the boots are fab, but those shoes are Amazing!!!
besos
(ohhh, those pictures, sorry you didn't keep that orange wig!!!!)
Thank you so much! I know, I wish I'd kept that wig.
DeleteWe are all indeed stars of our own movies every day we fabulous fashionistas! The cream jacket does really change the overall tone of this outfit, but the star still has to be that wow of a gold skirt - love it x
ReplyDeleteGet well soon honey!
Anna
I love the gold skirt - maybe I'll keep it out for the summer and wear it a bit more. Thanks, Anna!
DeleteOh wow this look is great, the skirt, that light blue top - and look at those nails :)
ReplyDeleteFancy nails! They didn't last very well, though.
