Wednesday. Over the hump! This'll be my last post for a bit, as tomorrow night is Book Club (and we know that can get a wee bit raucous), followed by an evening with L, followed by a Vintage Fair, followed by Winesday.

- Blouse - CABi, consignment; last worn here in October 2016 in two outfits in one day...including a concert look for Alice Cooper!
- Shoes - Half Truth Tanya, Fluevog; last seen here in September 2016 with green sleeves post-tattoo

- "Fit and flare!" (from someone who knows fashion)

I don't actually get a lot of reactions to my outfits on a daily basis. My coworkers are all used to me by now, and our clients know how I dress too. Yawn, yes, purple hair, pretty clothes, yada yada. And the street people downtown can only see my outerwear - ah, bring on spring, when I can again be yelled at that I look like Carol Burnett!

OMG! Those shoes! And you could have bought another colour! Don't you just hate I-should-have-bought-regret? Kind of like purging regret. I regret getting rid of two pairs of LaVallee tall boots at different times in my life. You think I would have learned after the first pair. I still look for similar ones :)

Thank you, madam! I think people just get used to seeing me always dressy, so it takes something either more unusual/wacky or something that hits their own comfort zone for them to comment. I also compliment people on the street! It feels good.
DeleteI'm not surprised this outfit garnered so many compliments. It's delightful! (Your outfits bring out all sorts of surprising comments from me, hahaha). The shirt sleeves are so pretty as are those shoes, and hey girl why didn't you get them in purple?
ReplyDeleteRe compliments, I get the most compliments from my husband when we meet up at lunchtime (we miss each other in the morning between his early start and my beach swim). He's full of witty comments and says the kindest things. He really ought to have been a diplomat!

Ha, yes, I know - I do the same with my comments on other blogs. :) My husband also compliments me (and he always looks awesome for his work), even though we don't always see each other fully dressed in the morning. He gets the "tired version" at the end of the day. Your hubby sounds...delightful!
DeleteA handful of times I've gotten compliments on my outfit from colleagues and it's really made my day! It's nice to see that others appreciate the little bit of effort you put into wearing something different. Doesn't always happen but I can remember each and every outfit it has happened with! :)
ReplyDeleteI really like your layering with the shirt under the dress here - it's making me eager to return to work as I have a similar style of dress I'd like to try wearing more shirts under, I have expanded my collection since last time I wore it to the office, haha! (Funnily enough, it was that black dress and a printed shirt combo that got one of the compliments!)
It's such a nice pick-me-up, isn't it? I value the comments more because they are so infrequent.

DeleteThat really is a fantastic outfit. You make some amazing thrifted finds. I need to find some good vintage fairs and decent charity shops - it can be a new hobby. I don't think you'll ever become what my mum (aged 84) calls a "beige lady" - grey hair and beige outfits.
