Sparkle Week! Floral Sparkle

And here we are at the end of Sparkle Week! That went fast, didn't it? I will probably continue to be sparkly right up till the New Year - because I CAN!
Today's sparkle is actually not sparkly - but you can sparkle just by going a little (a little? this is a little?) over the top with colour and pattern. And maybe throw in a handful of pearls while you're at it. Sure! Why not?

  • Jacket - Paparazzi, thrifted; last seen here (3rd outfit) in July for Winesday (same pants!)
  • Blouse - Kisca by Komarov, thrifted; purchased here last weekend for $14.95
  • Trousers - Banana Republic, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) earlier this month with blue fringe
  • Shoes - Ash; first worn here with blue and purple and crazy legs in November
  • Coat (below) - Hilary Radley, thrifted

I dressed for functionality, because I had an all-over-the-place day. First, I went to work and spent the morning in training for consulting (it had to do mostly with communications, and I am all over that, so I aced it), then I took the afternoon off and finished 99% of my Christmas shopping! I started that with a slice of pizza and a pint of cider, and finished it with another pint of cider four hours later. A drink pre- and post-shop is very civilized. It certainly makes all the Christmas carols more bearable.

I finished with a haircut (as you can see, I'm getting rather shaggy) with a glass of wine. We're still growing things out.
This blouse drove me nuts all day. It looks very nice there (I never took the floral jacket off, by the way), but looks are deceiving. The buttons popped open constantly, the collar was all "Look at me!!" and poking out randomly, and I sweated in it. I might have to just sew most of it shut. Or give it away. Not quite sure yet. Maybe I'll just set aside for spring.

I completely love this coat/jacket. It's denim and heavily embroidered.
Basic pants, and acid yellow sneakers for walkability.

But of course it is still freezing out (with more snow on the way this weekend, oh awesome, that's so great), so bundle up!
Getting tired of this yet? Danier fur hat/scarf and leather gloves. Warm.

The stuff:
The folks at the hair salon loved these shoes.

Pearl bling:
Pearls? Yes! More pearls? Yes, yes!

  • Necklace - Aldo Accessories
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Fulvia Ring/lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

And now, I'm off to make dinner and chill with L (who is sleeping off his office party). We have a jam-packed weekend  - 3 outfits tomorrow alone! - so see y'all on Sunday.

  1. It can't be, sparkle week can't be over yet! I haven't even sparkled properly yet! I've gone cave-dweller, trying to keep warm by my little fire. But your sparkles have been brilliant. Absolutely. I love this non-sparkly sparkle outfit too. I should try that pre- and post-drink thing. I love that you have an event-filled weekend. I trust you to live it up so I can live vicariously through you.

    1. I know, it went quickly! I will still be doing more sparkle, though, don't you worry! I haven't worn all of my sparkly things by a long shot. The drinky thing is very nice. I hope my weekend wasn't too wild for you, ha!

  2. OMG, that jacket is so gorgeous! I absolutely love it. It's a shame about the shirt/blouse but it is lovely. Red and yellow are rather fab together and you are definitely sparkling!

  3. Such a shame that shirt is a pain to wear as it is really very pretty. It's always annoying when the pretty pieces never live up to the expectations, you always expect more from them than a basic top for example.

    1. Yes, totally! I hope that the next wear will be better, otherwise...it's outta here!

  4. Sparkle week was fun. Love that embroidered jacket. I thrifted a shorter one -- handmade in Nepal and lined with cream silk. I love just looking at it in my closet but you've inspired me to get it out and wear it.

  5. Lots of your trademark colour going on, Sheila!
Funny how some clothes are just annoying to wear - of course you'll give the blouse another chance but I'm betting that if it bugs you again, you'll move it on! xxx

    1. Ha, you know me so well, Curtise! Yes, if the blouse doesn't work next time, it's out of here.

  6. No, not getting tired of the coat and gloves combo, so keep it coming. I will admit that I really have a crush on that embroided blouse of yours... And that denim coat is blooming (hahaha) amazing! So the hair - what's the plan sweetie? Mid length, bobbed, shaggy - what's the plan?

    1. I'm going for a long shag, sort of a Joan Jett rock & roll look. It's taking a while to grow my hair out. Thanks, Anna!
