London - The Scottish Play

From Regent Street, we headed over to the famous Carnaby Street for lunch and some shopping. I did do a bunch of "daily outfit" photos, but the weather was pretty sucky for the entire two weeks, so most of my pictures are me in this: My trusty denim trench coat! I was also principle photographer, so I'm not in very many of them.

We had lunch in a fabulous burger shop - this is the view from the patio:
The sign that says "Ollie & Nic" in the upper left-hand corner was an amazing bag/purse/accessory store (I bought a bag there that I'll show you on Friday). Highly recommended.

I don't remember the name of the burger joint, but it had the coolest loo ever:
Yeah, baby! On Carnaby Street, you must have a groovy bathroom!

That afternoon, we headed down to the south side of the Thames. We saw the replica of the Golden Hinde. We couldn't go on board because they were hosting what sounded like a fun kid's birthday party, with lots of pirates going, "Yarrr!"
We stepped into Southwark Cathedral (the oldest cathedral building in London, with parts as old as 606AD)and saw this memorial to Shakespeare:
(I always take pictures of the plaques so I can remember what things are).

Then we moved on to....The Globe:
I bought us tickets online months ago, as Mom, L and I are all theatre fans, and none of us had seen the traditional version of the Scottish play*. If you ever go there, spring the extra pound and get seat cushions - there is no padding, just wooden benches!

This is what it looked like inside:
At first we thought that black apron thing was to shield the standing viewers from any rain, as the theatre is open to the elements in the centre. The standing audience have to stand for the entire performance, but the tickets are only 5 pounds, versus the 35 I paid.

However, the actors used it to transition up and down off the stage during the performance! There was much screaming when these three bloody fellows appeared:
It was a fabulous play! An amazing experience!

And for those of you who have been dying to see what L looks like, I finally got him to agree to let me post his picture:
What a handsome devil!

And onto the clothes portion of our program!
Dude! Check out the shoes! I got them on Carnaby Street, in Irregular Choice, although they are Poetic Licence (hee, they're called "Summer Fling"), just like these and these ones I already own.

The skirt is also new - I got it for $12 in a thrift shop on my day off on Monday. It's by Bedo, a Montreal brand. Score again!

Oh, and this is my first bare legs of the year!

The stuff:
Believe it or not, these shoes were totally comfortable (well, for a heel, let's not kid ourselves). The solid platform (love the aqua sole!) was nice and stable and the t-strap kept them firmly on my feet.

*In case you don't know, this is the Scottish play. Although I'm not in a theatre, so don't have to worry about the curse.

Blouse (Mexx), skirt (Bedo, thrifted), shoes (Poetic Licence), belt (Nygard), bracelet (Le Chateau).

Julia, you like my rudimentary Paint skills? They are madd skillz, to be sure. Ah, I hope I didn't gain any weight - I drank a lot of beer. You realize I'm home now, right? All that "Never Seen" stuff was delay-posted while I was gone.

Thanks, Alison! Hee, yes, I'm so lucky to be married to such a hunk.

Jean, thank you! It's so good to be home. Yes, the wonder of delay-posts - you'd never know I was gone. Heh, I thought I was being very crafty with L's picture. Thanks so much!
