Studs, Purple Velvet and Over-Cocoon

Today I needed some textural armour - I reached for purple velvet. Does it get any better than that?
Well, you could add studs. They never go out of style.

  • Leather jacket - Michael Kors, consignment; last seen here in October 2023 with bold plaid
  • Dress - Betsey Johnson, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit, way down) in December 2022 to Powell River for Christmas
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog, consignment; last seen here in August 2023 with yellow
  • Cocoon coat (below) - B. Young; purchased for $59.99 and first worn here in November 2023

Another busy day - I've been training a new colleague in another city, while also trying to do my regular work.
Plus, I joined some of my favourite coworkers for Japanese at Toro for lunch. Fancy clothes were needed.

I dashed out without the Over-Cocoon and immediately regretted it.
This purple velvet dress has been languishing, but it's such a classic.

Pockets!
The hem is still a blur from the weight of the swoosh.

It was a blurry kind of morning.
I had the jacket off very briefly when I arrived at my desk, out of breath from doing several flights of stairs.

Lock and load!
I only zipped when I put my Over-Cocoon on.

What's an Over-Cocoon? This!
I had to do up the hood on the way home - it was blustery!

Accoutrements:
More purple. I liked that the bit of blue matched the Over-Cocoon.

  • Gloves - Danier Leather
  • Scarf - Fluevog

The stuff:
Heels that are more comfy than they look. I was tempted to buy these in blood red patent leather...

Silver bling:
The necklace and the neckline of the dress were not friends - noted for next time!

  • Belt - gift from Ruth
  • Necklace - Mexican, consignment, Powell River
  • Snake ring - BC Museum Gift Shop, 1986
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair
  • Earrings - Israeli, consignment

Vizzini was lurking around while I did my pics, so I grabbed him for a cuddle.
"Unhand me, Woman."

Oh, you know you love it, little bud. He was full of beans this morning, dashing out into the hall, and scratching vigorously on his post before settling on the bed for his day-long nap. What a life!

  1. Vizzini knows spring is coming!

Your outfit! The dress! The shoes! The velvet, color and cut combine to make for a lovely dress that looks fabulous on you. And I believe you noted it has pockets. An added bonus! You look elegant. :)

  2. Wow - what a fabulous dress, Sheila! And the shoes are gorgeous. We all need an over-cocoon. I have a dull one in navy blue that OH donated to me; I keep it in the car in case I need an extra layer on walks.

  3. That's one stunning dress, Sheila! I mean: velvet AND purple: what's not to love, even if it only makes it out of your closet once in a while.
Training a colleague AND doing one's regular job sounds quite exhausting. I hope things get less busy for you ...
I was wondering what the over-cocoon was, now it makes sense! xxx

  4. What a gorgeous skirt, paired beautifully with the studded leather.
I love your Over-Cocoon. They all seem to be beige over here!
