Purple, Pinstripe Armour and a Lobster

Today was a massively frazzle-ish day - I had 275 emails to get through (for only 2 actual regular days off, ugh), and I made a few errors here and there as I scrambled to catch up and deal with the hundred and one things I do every day. Um, sure, I totally know what day it is!
I'm pretty sure it's Tuesday...right? Anyway, I loaded up on my pinstripe armour.

  • Vest - Maison Scotch, Bohemian Chique, 2010, thrifted; last worn here in January on a snow day
  • Blouse - M&S, thrifted, Powell River; purchased here for $25.00-ish
  • Trousers - Red Valentino, consignment; last seen here in November 2023 with peak teal and copper
  • NAS (Not-a-Skirt) - Derek Lam 10 Crosby, thrifted; first worn here in March 2022 in a Reader Request outfit
  • Loomed Lady coat (below) - vintage, thrifted; last seen here in November 2023

I used this outfit formula (copied from this outfit here) of All The Pinstripes to showcase this purple blouse that I picked up in PR over the weekend.
I love the colour and the sleeves of the blouse, but nothing else. The cut is all wonky in the shoulders and upper arms and it does nothing for me.

The blouse will get a wash and then off it goes to a new home.
Otherwise, I loved this outfit - all this pinstripe-y goodness made me feel like a Boss.

I'll have to try it with another top - it's not like I'm wanting for them.
The NAS (not-a-skirt) thing is an entirely separate piece. I've only worn it once and it's not really worth keeping if I can't style it up with something other than these wool wide-legged trousers. However, it stays for now.

The Loomed Lady felt appropriate. It's nearly time to move all my really warm coats out of my closet - spring is on the way!
I picked up a few groceries on the way home. "Hey, I love your coat!" said a gent near the oranges.

Accoutrements;
This gaudy scarf reminds me of the fun trip to Vancouver last summer with my Winesday gals.

  • Scarf - Roberto Cavalli, thrifted, Vancouver
  • Gloves - Danier Leather

The stuff:
My cantilevered shoes caused gasps and exclamations in the office. "How can you walk in them?" They feel just like regular heels, no different at all. It's SCIENCE!

Armour bling:
Two of my coworkers asked me, "Is that a rock...lobster?" (A reference to the B-52s song, "Rock Lobster"). Of course it is!

  • Lobster brooch - Bermuda, Mom's
  • Fang bangle - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Sidney
  • Metal/moonstone bracelet - Mexican, consignment, purchased here yesterday for $30.00
  • Silver chain ring - Mexican, consignment
  • Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall
  • Silver/onyx ring - consignment
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair

I didn't like my new bracelet - one of the pins started working its way out. Crap quality - bad purchase!

  1. Is almost as if you are punished for taking a few days off, lol. That is a very good coat, love the print. And those shoes.......ah I would display them, so beautiful!

  2. The earrings, the lines of your outfit, the deep color of the blouse, the coat, the scarf and gloves, the shoes (beauties from the front, fascinating from the sides and back due to those heels!), and the split silver/onyx ring are all pure delight. As for the massive number of emails, oof!

We had lovely snow yesterday, enough to need shoveling and close schools. Today everything that was shoveled or plowed is quite passable. The temps have dipped below freezing at night and we have cold temps these next few days, so no putting away of winter coats yet for me.

    Cheers, Laurie

  3. I am so, so hearing you on the 275 mails. I've had the same thing happen when I took last Monday off. Took me hours just to go through them before I could even start my actual work. Like Nancy says, it's almost as if one's being punished for daring to take time off!
Hearing you too on the blouse, but what a shame about the bracelet :-(
The Loomed Lady makes it all better, though, as does your lobster brooch. Oh, and don't forget to thank your co-workers for the lovely earworm. How I loved that B52's album it was on! xxx

  4. Ah, such a shame about both the top and bangle as they both 'look' great!
Am so intrigued by the 'not a skirt!'
I love lobsters on clothing/jewellery-my kids would ask if he had a name at all.
Sorry to hear work punished you for your negligence in having a vacation! Kezzie xx
