Brocade Bookending Bronze

Back to work today, and it was a dead one. I'm so thankful for all of you...I have someone to show my outfit to!
L gets a glimpse of my outfits in the mornings, pre-accessories and shoes, while I do my hair and make-up.

  • Jacket - Le Chateau, consignment; last worn here in January 2021 with this skirt
  • Blouse - Talbots, thrifted; last seen here in October 2021 with embroidery and pleats
  • Skirt - Ralph Lauren, consignment; last worn here in December 2021 with dark green
  • Shoes - no label, consignment, Powell River; purchased here on the weekend for $60.00
  • Coat (below) - Auckie Sanft, vintage 60s, vintage fair; last seen here in November 2021

But I had no one to twirl for. I miss that!
Some favourite pieces here, but of course I built the outfit around the shoes.

If you squint, you can see the tiger brooch on the left shoulder.
This brocade jacket has been in my closet since 2012 and this is its 32nd wear (Flashback here).
The bronze skirt is *chef's kiss* - a perfect thing.

Masked up - it's one of my 3 leopard masks.
I love the look of the brocade boots with this outfit and how they bookended the brocade jacket.

Outerwear - the Fuzzy Flamingo is back!
The weather is slightly warmer during the day - I felt hugged when I was wearing this coat.

Accoutrements:
Getting in the first wearing of these posh Ralph Lauren leather gloves.

  • Gloves - Ralph Lauren, consignment; purchased here for $26.50
  • Silk scarf - thrifted
  • Mask - Lazy Susan's

The stuff:
These boots were very comfortable - that's an excellent heel, and the fabric body was soft and did not rub. However, the "skate lace" construction is shoddy, as some of them are pulling right out of the shoe. I had to poke holes from the inside with an Exacto knife, and thread the lace through the hole to take the stress off the hooks - thank goodness there is a proper grommet so that the laces don't tear the shoe. I left the top hooks alone, as they weren't too bad, but I had to use another tool to secure a few of the hooks. Damn fast fashion! Why must you be so stunning?

Fancy bling:
Of course, I had to wear my big cat set! The Year of the Tiger is only a few days away.

  • Tiger articulated brooch - consignment
  • Leopard earrings - purchased here for $30.00
  • Hinged cuff - Alexis Bittar, consignment, gift from L
  • Bangle - faux Gucci, vintage 80s, gift from Mom and Dad, Italy
  • Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's
  • Silver/crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy

The brooches were very tight on my lobes, so I had to do some adjustments to them as well.

    1. Thanks so much, Dar! I'll have to get L to take a video on his phone some time - I'm not able to do them on the camera unless I'm holding it. Thanks!

Gah! Fast fashion, style over substance ....I've been out with a few men like that! xxx

  3. I hate it when there is no one around to appreciate a good outfit! It's nice you can document on your blog and share with people all over the world though! This is such a great first wearing of your new boots even if the laces gave you trouble! I really like the metallic skirt with them!

    1. I already talk my boss' ear off when he's in the office (I have no one to talk to!), and not being able to show off my look is something I really miss.

      Thanks, Mica!

  4. If I twirled for my one and only colleague, she would think me even madder than she already thinks I am! I'd stand a better chance twirling for my gay bosses when they're in Antwerp, which alas they haven't been since the pandemic. I too love Dar's suggestion of a twirling video! That skirt was definitely made for twirling, and the pink pussy bow blouse is just perfect with it. The brocade jacket is a stunner too, and yes, I did see the tiger! Glad to hear the boots were comfortable, which goes a long way to make up for their fast-fashion-ness :-) xxx

    1. Lol, at your colleague, Ann. Some people just think that Those Who Dress Up are silly or mad. Their loss! Aw, I have a couple of gay colleagues - I miss them too! I'm glad you spotted the tiger. :)

Yes, the boots are great - I wish they were more like Fluevog-level quality, though!

  5. Such a beautiful outfit! I'm sure it would have many admirers among your colleagues if the office was full. Lovely pink blouse and light blazer combo. This maxi bronze skirt was made for twirling. I love the brocade lace up boots you wore with this skirt. Shame the boots are not quality made, but it's great you manage to alter them to be more comfortable. The pink coat is fabulous too.
Yes, the tiger set is the perfect accessory to wear with this look!:)

    1. Thanks, Ivana! I know I would have been twirling till I was dizzy in this, if I'd had an office full of coworkers. It is a shame about the boots, but I'll wear them until they fall apart - I love the look of them, and they are quite comfy.

  9. It's a shame the construction on the boots is so crappy - they are soo pretty. I guess that is how fast fashion lures the customers - shiny surfaces cover up the crumbling foundation.

    1. They're good enough for now, Shelley - I'll enjoy them while they last. Yes, excellent description of fast fashion - at least I was able to give my money to a local store to buy them.

  10. Such a chic, wonderful outfit. I adore where you placed your gorgeous tiger brooch. It reminds me of how Coco Chanel (amongst others too, of course) was a big fan of wearing brooches in unexpected places.

    1. Thank you, Autumn! Yes, I'm sure that my tiger brooch is inspired by either Chanel or Wallis Simpson's collection.
