Golden Lion Dress

Hello, my friends! Good news! It looks like someone fixed the glitch that was causing my posts not to send out via email! Huzzah! You probably just got a summary of all links from the last 2 weeks in a single email - I subscribe to my own blog so that I can see what you see, and that's what I got.

If you signed up with an additional email to try to get my posts, you can unsubscribe from that email by using the link at the very bottom.

Thank you so much to the readers and fellow bloggers who alerted me to this! If it happened to me, it probably happened to some other folks too. Anyway, phew! Glad that's fixed.

Here's today's outfit to welcome back the hordes into the office!
Except that only 4 people came in! It was still really nice to see people.

  • Dress - The Arkin Collection, vintage 60s, vintage fair; first worn here in March right at the start of lockdown
  • Shoes - Cardinal Super Fine, Fluevog; last worn here in June

I spent most of the day still packing up all the crap people keep on and under their desks, in preparation for putting signage and disinfecting stations all over my final floor on Wednesday.
It was sweaty work. I did 35 desks.

I had to wear this gorgeous woven dress again!
It's so SHINY. And covered with golden lions.
And how awesomely is that pattern lined up? That's all woven, not printed!

I matched my mask to my outfit.
It's a bit hard to see, but my mask has stars on it.

The stuff:
Lovely shoes for all my crawling around under desks.

Shiny bling:
No rings today.

  • Brass/copper cuff - Karen's
  • Ball bracelet - Butler Fifth Avenue Collection, consignment
  • Earrings - thrifted

  1. Gah! Why are people so messy? 35 desks is incredible, I bet you needed a lie-down after all that work.
That dress is fab, I'm glad four of your colleague got to see it. That's what makes me so cross about modern clothes, the prints hardly ever match up, I can't bear it!
The mask tones perfectly with the dress and the shoes are just brilliant.
I'm glad you're sorted your emails. How odd about those New Blogger glitches. My photos loaded okay but I had to click "upload" twice before anything happened. I'm currently puzzling out how to add a caption.
    Have a fab day! xxx

    1. I have done over 200, Vix! My back is killing me today. Two Robax and a quiet day ahead of me to rest it.

Oh, tell me about it - matching up fabric is one of the quality marks I look for when I shop, and it's SO rare!

Thank you so much! I'm so relieved! I have over 1000 subscribers - I was stunned to see that! I left you a comment re: captions. When I first tested the new blogger, I noticed they were missing and sent them feedback on it.

  2. I'm glad your email subscription is once again working. After I started missing your posts from my reading list, I did subscribe as well, and yesterday evening got my first email. I'll never miss a post now! I can't believe people can be so untidy, and I would have left all the mess there for people to pick up themselves! I'm sure your colleagues were glad to be back to, if only to see your daily outfits again. And what a wonderful sight awaited them with that stunning 60s dress. And of course, matching mask! xxx

    1. It's such a relief, Ann - I was so stressed about it!

Oh, it's to be expected. People get used to thinking that desks are theirs and they decorate and make themselves right at home. I don't clean up anything - it all goes into a box, even their dirty mugs.

Only one of my colleagues even mentioned my dress - thank goodness she is back!

  3. Shiela if I worked with you I would look forward to seeing what you would be wearing each day. What a welcome sight you must have been for your 4 workmates. When you thrift earrings do you clean them with anything special? Your outfit is glamourplus today Shazx

    1. Aw, thank you, Shaz! I wish I could say my colleagues were all blown away by my outfit, but they are so used to how I dress that this wasn't anything out of the ordinary for them. My one female VP was very impressed - I can't wait to show her my Proenza Schoeler!

When I clean earrings, I use rubbing alcohol on the backs and posts. Sometimes if they are really dirty, I use soap and a toothbrush (which is what I use to clean most of my jewelry). Thank you, Shaz!

  4. Hurray, it's working again! Glad to, reading your post in the evening always makes me feel as if I'm on your couch talking to you! Well listening.... Gorgeous dress. I havn't seen a dress or skirt where the pattern lined perfectly in ages. I think it is so annoying when it doesn't.

    1. I'm so glad, Nancy - and thank you again for alerting me to this! Ha ha, that sounds lovely!

Thank you - I just love this dress. You're so right - the quality of clothing nowadays is very low.

  5. Congratulations on the notification fix! I hate it when computers or software won't do my bidding.

That is a stunner of a dress. It screams quality. Young people have no idea what they are missing out on. Even very expensive new clothing is just not made to the same standards as that dress was. You look fabulous in it!

    1. I know, I even tried yelling at it, Nana (ha ha!). :)

Thank you - I know, kids these days (hee hee). It's so rare to see something that is this nice quality.

  7. WOW! That vintage gold dress is absolutely gorgeous. It looks like it was made for you. Such fabulous fabric and I love that you paired it with metallic shoes. You look very glamorous and beautiful in this look.
I'm happy to hear you managed to fix the subscription thing.

    1. Thanks, Ivana! It's such a lovely dress - incredible quality.

I hope it's fixed! It's been really frustrating.

  8. I am amazed that this gorgeous dress and the heeled shoes are fit to do 35 desks!! No way I would have put that on to do such a job. I would have had jogging trousers and a shirt on. Never a dress and heels. I would be so afraid to damage these precious pieces. They look so good on you.

    1. Heck, yes, Greetje! I did do all 35 desks in it. There will be no casual outfits for work from me, not for a while anyway. I have too many lovely clothes and I want to wear them all before it's time to change my closet over again!

I do remind myself, "They are just clothes." Their purpose is to be used, and part of using things is them getting damaged. That's life!

  9. I will always love seeing that dress. Shiny enough to brighten any day!

  10. This is such a fun dress on you and well done on tidying up so many desks! I am dreading seeing what my locker looks like in the office when we return (we have a clean desk / hot desk policy so everyone has snacks and things stored in their lockers...).
Hoping someone doesn't have to go round clean them all out! I had chocolate in mine which will NOT have survived months in no AC (our floor is sealed, no electricity or AC). They think we may work from home for the rest of the year - they stopped talking about us going back when our NZ office which had reopened had to shut again.

    1. Thanks so much, Mica! I'm sure someone had to deal with your lockers!

Wow, that's so wild. We just have a trickle of people coming back here, but I doubt we'll have a full office before 2021! Such a strange time we're living in, isn't it?

  11. I haven't tried using the new Blogger interface yet as I'm posting so rarely but I have heard from various people that it has some glitches.

We've had plexiglass shields installed in front of the reception desks at work, along with hand sanitizer, directional arrows on the floor, the works. However, we don't know when we will be back in the office on a regular basis. I've only been in a couple of times since March but it was nice to see all my "stuff" (action figures, toy dinosaurs, art, etc. was still on my desk.

I seriously love that dress, even though the colours are not what I would usually like, nor the shape, but it looks wonderful on you, and I mean, how can one not love GOLD LIONS?

    1. It's very glitchy, ugh.

Oh my! They didn't do that for my desk, thank goodness. I'd rather not be sealed in. We have the works otherwise. I saw a lot of "stuff" like that! I like it.

Thank you - it's so amazing. GOLD LIONS!
