Literary Stylings: Pink Pins and Bookended by Burgundy

Another late night for me, but at least I was bright!
My tights are really that bright in person!

  • Cardigan - Jacob, thrifted; last seen here in October 2015 for the debut of the disco pants
  • Sweater - Lacoste, thrifted; first worn here in December 2015 with brocade and gold
  • Skirt - Mario Serrani, thrifted; purchased here on the weekend for $6.00
  • Shoes - Queen Transcendent Escarpin, Fluevog; last worn here with shades of wine and plum back in November 2015

The first wearing of this really cool skirt - I loved it and it got lots of compliments. I think it will work better in my spring/summer wardrobe, as I have many more citrusy brights in it. I had a hard time finding something in my fall/winter wardrobe that wasn't black! Hence, the pink tights.

I have a lot of tights - these ones are over 6 years old (check it out, December 2009, here they are) - and I tend to wear the same ones over and over. So, using a similar trick to what I've been doing in my closet each season*, after I washed a bunch of my tights the other night, I pulled all the non-worn tights from the drawer I store them in and put them in a big grocery bag. My goal is to make it to the bottom of the bag, and hopefully weed a few pairs out in the process. Not these, though. I love me some pink tights.

*I put my hangers in backwards, then as I wear clothes, I turn the hangers around.

I bookended my outfit - top and bottom - with burgundy, which pulled out the warm pinky tones in the skirt and helped make the tights a little less loud.

Speaking of bookending, I'm linking up to Gracey's "Literary Stylings" over at Fashion for Giants! My outfit is not really inspired by anything I've read lately, although I'm going to say it's from our most recent Book Club book (which I ready over Christmas) was "A Man Called Ove" (link 'cause I love) by Fredrik Backman. Ove is a cantankerous old coot, and he would thoroughly disapprove of my outfit, my purple hair, and me. However, I'm likable and I'd win him over.
Love these shoes, but after 6 hours, off they came (as I trekked to the other office) and on went my runners, until I left the office at 7pm.

The stuff:
My usual photo background was in use, as our cleaner was still here when I got home and that's where we dump all the crap from the bathroom, so that she can clean it without it getting in the way. This is an old computer chair, where I sit to either put my shoes on in the morning or have a little cuddle with Vizzini when I get home.

And yeah, the shoes are sweet!

Green bling:
First wearing of my turquoise ring.

  • Necklace - consignment
  • Earrings - Stella and Dot, consignment
  • Ring - local

And finally...a Happy Birthday to my dear brother Dave, who turned 46 today. Ha! You're old, little brother. Go here for an amusing journey in my history with my little bro.

  1. Happy birthday to your brother! :)

I love the hot pink tights with the print of your skirt :) Smart idea to try make sure you wear all your tights too! I think I need to try something like your hanger method soon to help me whittle down my wardrobe more, as I don't make much progress with it!

  2. I love the tights - and the bag method to make sure you wear the ones you like. I have tried the backwards hanger thing but I always cheat! A character flaw. Fabulous shoes! xox

  3. I. Love. These. Tights. I'd marry them if my state allowed it.

  4. Also loves me some funky coloured tights. So many bloggers have abandoned colour and have become #basically #boring. Thank you for bringing colour to the world!

  5. I knew that skirt would look fab - it reminds me of a print from an H&M dress you thrifted ( i have the same print on a top).
Of course the tights are fab - i also own a similar pair !

  7. I have a pair of bright pink tights that are a bit lighter shade than yours - I always feel like I could glow in the dark when I wear them. I've been slacking on the colour lately and only doing black and grey, which seems to match the weather we've been having.

  8. Very sweet skirt and how beautifully the pink tights work with that. I've got bright pink tights but can't seem to find the right get up yet. That necklace is a winner x

  9. I agree with all the compliment givers: this is an extremely nice skirt. Are these the shoes you bought when I was with you?
    Nice necklace too.

  11. Ooohh, don't you just adore it when tights are able to hold up for several years (or more). I too tend to really gravitate towards the same handful of pairs, many of which I've had for between five and seven years now (possibly even longer in a couple of cases), too.

Very fun outfit! Your pink gams just the burst of wardrobe cheerfulness one needs during this chilly, slate sky filled month.
