A Two-Fer at the Arena: Hockey Game and So You Think You Can Dance

Woo, it's been a wild week! I need a weekend. Good thing there's one on the horizon.

Yesterday, my company had our quarterly meeting at the local arena (we did the same thing here last year); meeting, then hockey game. Last year, the visiting team got snowed in, but we got a game this year.
Yes, this is what I wear to a hockey game. As one does!

  • Jacket - Guess; purchased here for $45.00 last week
  • Sweater - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last seen here in December 2015 with classic plaid
  • Skirt - BB Dakota, consignment; last worn here in October 2015 with a chunky knit and men's shoes
  • Boots - Prepare Hi Adventure, Fluevog; purchased here in January for $199.00 via gift certificate

Business on the top, naughty on the bottom! I wore these fab boots all day for work (waggling my feet at anyone and everyone), including walking 4 blocks to and from our other office, and standing in them for 4 hours at the quarterly meeting. My feet were sore today, but for a first wear, they were awesome.

I had a lot of good reactions to the jacket and to the plethora of colour.
I was a presenter at the meeting - many people told me I'm a natural public speaker. Nah, it's something I've learned to do. Fake it till you feel it - that's my motto!

The stuff:
Drool...boots...

Shiny bling:
I love Grandma J's necklace.

  • Necklace - vintage 50s? Grandma J
  • Death Star ring - Soul Flower

I stumbled home late and went straight to bed.

Awake again, and ready for another long day.
Muted colours for me, I guess. I liked the strategic shots of grey in this outfit.

  • Jacket - Urban Renewal; purchased here last week for $4.99
  • Shirt - LL Bean, consignment; last worn here in December 2015 with Mom jeans (Versace Mom jeans!)
  • Skirt - Gianfranco Ferre via Giorgio Beverly Hills, vintage 80s, thrifted; last seen here in September 2015 with yesterday's sweater
  • Shoes - Half Truth Veda, Fluevog

I liked the layers in this - I belted the kimono top to give it structure and like how it stands away from the body otherwise. The top is made from vintage fabrics in the US.

White shirt. Yup, it's a white shirt.
A nice curve on the bottom of the kimono top. I'd considered wearing it open with the white shirt tucked in to show off this amazing black wool vintage designer skirt, but it didn't look right.

The stuff:
My photo table is in use right now. I walked home in these shoes.

Grey bling:
My first wearing of Mom's hematite beads.

  • Belt - Shi Studios
  • Buckle - Shi Studios, thrifted
  • Cuff - thrifted
  • Necklace - gift from Mom
  • Earrings - Aldo Accessories

Fittingly, I saw Mom tonight at the arena (I was at the arena again! Two nights in a row!), since I was wearing her beads. I went to see the tour of "So You Think You Can Dance" with Elaine (Cat and Karen were also there) - it was really cool and so much dancing! I spotted Mom and my niece Zoe in the crowd, and waved but they didn't see us.

And now...I'm tired! Off to bed!

  2. That yellow skirt fits you so well... I can imagine that same skirt with the grey kimono worn on the second look.

  3. Lorena, the kimono is actually lavender purple, but yes, I love lavender/yellow together!

  4. Gorgeous outfit! I adore (!!!) the rich, elegant autumnal tones at work here. That skirt is a dream. I'd love to find a similar mustard yellow pencil skirt for my closet, too.

Have a terrific weekend, sweet Sheila!

  5. I really like the colour combination in the first look, and great the boots were so easy to wear on the first wear - great buy, when you can wear shoes for such a long time without having to 'break them in' first!

I really like the belted kimono in your second outfit too. I'll need to remember to give that a try with my kimonos as soon as I'm able to belt around my waist again, ha!

  6. OMG don't the boots look sensational! So pleased you managed to wear them all day without being crippled - things will only get easier from here on. Also love the yellow skirt. Other outfit is understated for you Sheila, but classy none the less, with the tights being my favourite piece.
