Mondo Bigass Weekend Vacay Round-Up: Birthday Lavender, WW Floral and Shopping, Day of Indolence, and Lettuce Shop

I return, with tidings of fun and good times had! Since this is a bigass post (you have been warned), let's get right to it.

Here's Wednesday evening, an outfit for dinner at Stage, a local charcuterie-style restaurant, for L's actual birthday.
Happy Birthday, L!

  • Dress - D'Allaird's, vintage 60s, thrifted; last seen here (3rd outfit) in August 2014 for Nick's birthday
  • Shoes - Camper; last worn here (3rd outfit) in May with white eyelet for the theatre

L and I mostly lounged about on Wednesday, playing multiple games of Arkham Horror, before going to dinner.
So nice to get out on such a gorgeous day!

Vizzini has loved having us home, although you wouldn't know it by the pictures.
"What? I'm just a cat in a tray."
He looks furious here.
"Let me nap, woman!"
He's been very floppy in the heat.
"Put the fan on, this cat needs to flop."
The stuff:
A scarf to cover up my non-styled hair, some sparkly things for a special occasion, and walking shoes.

Bright bling:
Many shiny things.

  • Purse - Accessorize
  • Scarf - Beecher's Brook, thrifted
  • Bracelet - Coro, vintage 60s, Mom's
  • Filigree cuff - St. Paul's Cathedral gift shop
  • Bangle - local
  • Death star ring - Stone Roses
  • Earrings - don't remember

On Thursday, I needed to get some down-time, so I went to a couple of thrift stores during the day.
I wore a simple, comfy dress and flats. Yup, that's an outfit.

  • Dress - Karina; last worn here in February while feeling lack of mojo
  • Shoes - Born, consignment; last seen here (6th outfit, way down at the bottom) in May for a grocery and thrift shop

I wore this to do my Thursday WW meeting as well - my members were disappointed that I didn't have more exciting shoes on.
Yeah, I'm not always all about the fancy shoes!

Physical sunblock in the form of my trusty jean jacket.
Loving my big lime green suede carry-all.

The stuff:
Green circles!

  • Green glass bangle - thrifted
  • Green jade ring - vintage 70s, Mom's

I did pretty good on my thrifting expedition! My first stop was the St. Vincent de Paul, where I found this fabulous green cardigan for only $4.00.
The front of it is all sequins! It's L'Wren Scott for Banana Republic which came out in late fall 2013.

This is just a hang-around-the-house tee, but it's cute.
A nice bright colour, and only $3.00. I've forgotten the brand, and it's in the wash, so *shrug*.

I tend to avoid silk blouses, because I ruin them when I sweat, but this one is machine washable.
It's another Banana Republic, and was only $5.00. It's from Fall 2007.

I had to trash my pink leather shiny metallic sneakers - they wore out. Sad! But look what I found to replace them!
Grey sparkly Airwalks!

For only $10.00.
Pretty good for brand new shoes.

I also found a belt for L.
It's leather and has butterflies on it (he's very manly, he can handle it, hee hee). Only $3.00 - score!

I strolled up to the WIN Boutique for a gander. I really liked the pattern and colours on this mod Mexx blouse.
It was $14.50.

I am pretty sure Elaine has this same skirt - I'll have to make sure I don't wear mine when I'm going to see her.
It's a Ralph Lauren linen blend, and was $17.50.

This was such a cute skirt - I had to have it.
It's a pencil skirt with slits up both sides, in a red stretch denim.

I like the koi fish on it.
Too cool. It was $14.50.

I might have snatched this shirt off the rack the minute I saw it.
Um, yes, please, I would like this Hawaiian tie-front shirt - take my $12.50!

It says "Tommy Surf" (written backwards), and it has hibiscus and hula dancers on it.
It's by Tommy Hilfiger.

I recognized these earrings as being by Fossil.
I have this set (picture) that I got from L several years ago - how awesome to find another pair of earrings to go with my bracelet.

And there's the F.
They were $7.50.

On Friday, L and I readied ourselves for the Annual Day of Indolence (which has been renamed from the former Annual Day of Indigence, because indigence doesn't mean what we intended). Anyway, huzzah!
This is my entry for "Visible Monday" over at Patti's Not Dead Yet Style, as well as for "Hat Attack!" at Style Crone. Go visit them both! Say hi for me, willya?

  • Blouse - Tommy Hilfiger, thrifted right up there
  • Skirt - Smoking Lily, thrifted right up there as well
  • Shoes - Enzo Angiolini, consignment; last seen here (2nd outfit) in May for an Ulty field quick-change

Yeah, I couldn't resist the fun retro vibe of these two pieces together! I loved wearing this outfit all day. I did wear a turquoise cami under the shirt to prevent belly flashes. No need for those.
Practical heels - we did a lot of walking.

I sunblocked but also carried my paper parasol with me. I always prefer physical sunblock.
Don't I look ready to be indolent and lazy and louche?

The stuff:
Silk scarf in my hair (I'm totally cheating on Hat Attack!).

  • Scarf - thirfted, vintage
  • Earrings - Le Chateau
  • Parasol - Chinatown

Okay, here we go - this is a big long stretch of pictures! We started off at Floyd's with Cat, Ross and Randall for breakfast, then meandered down to the next bar.
But first, a stop at the bank. Ross and L looking suitably casual. I like Ross's Crown Royal cap and L's thrifted Alice Cooper "Welcome to My Nightmare" tour shirt.

We stopped at the Sticky Wicket Pub for a shot.
Cat and I sipped our framboise (raspberry) vodka slowly.

We don't really plan too much, so when I suggested we take a water taxi to Spinnaker's Pub, all were in favour!
We're right down in the Inner Harbour, below the Tourist Info Centre.

Ooh, pretty sailing boat.
We enjoyed the Dixieland jazz trio playing above us on the Causeway.
The tide was so far out (far out, man) that the bottom of the harbour was exposed. Stinky!

Ross and I waiting for the taxi.
Wait, is that it?
Nope, that's the little pickle boat, aka the Harbour Ferry.

You just pay for whatever trip you want to take around the harbour and hop on!
Lots of zodiacs for whale watching.

Cat was our trusty "tech support", letting others know where we were headed.
"Going to Spinnaker's - meet us there."
Recognize Cat's cardigan? I last wore it here before I put in the giveaway pile. I think that might have been my bracelet too. Seeing my friends wearing my old clothes feels awesome - I know they've gone to good homes.

We only had to wait a few minutes for our taxi.
Eee! I love being in these little boats!

Pulling away from the docks.
There's the Empress Hotel in the background.

Further away...
We're going at a good clip!

The cool ocean breeze felt awesome.
"I'm so not a tourist!"
Look at that gorgeous sky!
This is Victoria's skyline from the water.
Not a lot of tall buildings! I like that!

We passed all kinds of condos on the edge of the harbour.
All with spectacular views, of course, and the price tag to match.

L being his jovial self.
Hee, never grow old, love!

I liked this statue that was in front of one of the condos.
It's a girl swimming with dolphins. We don't have dolphins here.

The crew strolling along the walkway to the next pub.
There it is! Spinnaker's!
Spinnaker's is one of many brewpubs in Victoria.

Caro showed up just after we arrived.
And there was much hugging! Caro was actually wearing one of my old suede skirts.

Yvonne showed up a few minutes later.
TGIF, for our working friends! Nick and Karen arrived within a few minutes as well.

We spotted this ginormous cruise ship coming in.
Those mountains in the background are in Washington State.

Our crazy-faces group shot!
Our waitress was standing on a chair.
Then we all did our Very Serious Faces.
Being indolent is serious business.

From there, we strolled back along the walkway to Lure Patio, at the Delta Ocean Pointe.
Such a beautiful day!

This dog accosted me.
"I smell cat."
I shooed him along.

I love living this close to the ocean.
I always feel very grateful to live here.

Gents chillin' at the patio.
We fortified ourselves with salad and edamame.

And off we headed to the next pub!
Which way?

Over the bridge!
Our beloved blue bridge, the Johnson Street bridge, is getting replaced. This may be the last time I walk over it.

Must record that step for posterity.
It's a counter-weight drawbridge, which lifts to allow taller ships through to the other side. Victoria has several bridges, but this is the only one that raises and lowers.

And here we are at Market Square, at Lower Johnson.
All Gold-Rush-era buildings that have been fixed up nice and are full of fun little boutiques.

To the Drake!
"Where?"
Right there beside you!

We were across the street from Swan's Pub (also a brewpub), but we used to go there every week for years, so now we rarely do.
Tourist sightseeing bus going by
Been there, done that.

A slightly more tipsy group shot.
Real grins!

Our videographer, Nick.
I love this silhouette of L, Chris and Ross.
Looks like a very serious conversation.

My state of mind by this point of the late afternoon?
"Woo hoo! Let's take a selfie, Cat!"
Time to move on!

Chris and Alli got married on Thursday.
They look so happy!

When carousing about, always look back at where you've come from.
Right. We were over there before, weren't we?

And here we are at our last stop, the Garrick's Head, which is across from the Irish Times Pub. One of these pubs is a touristy one; one is not.
"Give me that camera!"
I should never have handed over the camera.
Me, Vero and Yvonne
Now our silliness is recorded forever.

We had an awesome day, chilling with friends, being silly and taking in the sun and sights of our lovely town. Thank you to all my friends who joined us!

Yesterday/Saturday was a very low-key day, where L and I just hung out with Vizzini and enjoyed some time as a fam.

Today, I strolled to town for groceries (which arrived as I was writing this, not half an hour ago), then met up with Yvonne for a shop over at My Sister's Closet.
The return of the lettuce dress!

  • Dress - Taylor, consignment; last seen here (5th outfit) back in September 2014 for another grocery shop (same shoes, too).
  • Sandals - Born, consignment; last worn here last weekend to the Ulty field

We had a lovely light brunch at the pub, then shopped.
Randall came and met us after, and gave me a ride home. Aw, so nice. Shopping is hard work!
My regular sunblock jacket.

The stuff:
Yup, just plain ol' earrings.

  • Earrings - Plum

Yvonne did really well, but I didn't find much that I really loved.
Pink denim jacket? Yes, I will take that for $19.99, thank you. This is by CABi.

I also really liked this fringed magenta top.
"You were gone all day for this? What about me?"
It was $16.99 and is by Ina (never heard of that brand).

Well? How was your weekend? Did you ride on any boats?
