Today is Pink Shirt Day, where you wear a pink shirt to support the anti-bullying movement.
Pink sweater, close enough. It was amazing to see so many people in my office wearing every shade of pink to support this great cause. I was bullied quite badly as a kid in elementary school - it's not something we ever talked about then. I know I felt very alone and unwanted.

- Skirt - Danier, thrifted; last seen here (6th outfit) in November with green velvet
- Shoes - Camper ; last worn here in January with all the jewels
I loved wearing this new-to-me sweater today - the sleeves are like wings that both keep me warm and keep me aired out.
And who doesn't like a black pencil skirt? Not this cowgirl.

Sweet shoes of speckled goodness! I walked to and from our other office (4 blocks each way) in these, then to my hair appointment, then to and from the bus stop. My feet are good.

One of my WW members gave me a little present last night at the meeting:
I love her hand-written decoration on the paper. "No try".
One of my favourite sayings to my group is the quote from Yoda, "Do or do not. There is no try." Saying "I'll try" implies failure to me. Do it or don't do it.
I never try. I do. Or I do not.

I saw a bunch of pink-shirted firemen campaigners downtown today and wondered what it was for. Breast cancer? Then I found out it was for anti-bullying. Yes, a good cause. Your sweater is perfect for this. I like your No Try philosophy.

ReplyDeleteAnd so nice to hear of everyone at work getting behind the cause adn wearing pink! I think I recall saying this last year on your post, ha! But we have a similar day here where people are encouraged to wear orange.
I can't think when that day is now! I'm so out of the loop just being at home all day, haha. I'm sure I'll be caught up in all the different fundraising days when I'm back in the office.
Beautiful outfit *and* an important message. Like you, I was bullied as a child. As you say, back then nobody cared, not even adults or parents. Those scars are deep. My sympathy, buddy, for your past hardships.
ReplyDeleteThere is no try - I love the philosophy of Yoda. I had forgotten that is was No Bully day so thank you for the reminder. I saw a movie last night called "Disconnect" in which bullying plays a sinister role. There is redemption, however.

ReplyDeleteI don't think the UK has an anti-bullying day, or not one that I am aware of. It's a good idea. And you look good too, love the hot pink and the fab shoes.
ReplyDeleteI'm completely guilty of using "I'll try" as a euphemism for "no"! (Also "we'll see...") But in general, I am a big believer in trying; trying means doing, having a go, even if you don't do something very well. I always encourage the kids to try - to make an effort, do their best, have a go. xxx

I didn't know about "no bully" day - no one in my office acknowledged it. I'm sorry I didn't know about it, as I too was bullied quite a bit for a couple of years in public school.
