Summer in September

Strangely, it's been roasting hot here for the past week! Summer is finally here - and it's only September! Fortunately, it's lasted all week, so I got to wear some lighter looks.

Thursday: My Lik-m-Aid Fun Dip top (2nd outfit), a classic black pencil skirt (with pockets!) and my low lime green suede shoes.

Top (Express, thrifted), skirt (Kensie), shoes (Circa Joan & David, thrifted), red bracelet/earrings (Plum), silver cuff (St. Paul's Cathedral gift shop).

On Friday, I felt like stretching!
I met up with my good friend Elaine after work for dinner and drinks.

I'm glad to have this new-to-me brown cardi (worn last weekend for the first time).
Not too many more wears for my sandals...I am totally jonesing for boots, sweaters and scarves now!

Cardi (Alternative Apparel, thrifted), top (Zara, consignment), Jeans (Jackpot, swap from Caro), shoes (Kenneth Cole Reaction, consignment), cuff (SkinzNHydz), rings (Aldo and vintage 70s).

On Saturday, I got up early and went to my WW meeting. As usual, I wore stuff I could change out of easily at the Ulty field.
I love this purple silk skirt - it's so floaty and cool. I was really glad of easy sandals after running around in soccer cleats for two hours in the hot sun! Ha, I last wore this skirt with the exact same top (last outfit, scroll down).

T-shirt (BCBG Max Azria, consignment), skirt (Le Chateau, consignment), shoes (La Canadienne, consignment).

After lunch out with Nick and rushing around to the grocery store to get an assortment of cheeses, smoked salmon, mixed nuts and crackers for Winesday, we popped down to our neighbour Pearl's birthday party.

Vizzini was being a cuddlemeister:
I swapped the top (which had gotten sweaty and sunblocky) for a blue cami and my stripey cardi.

Cardi (Express, thrifted), cami (InWear), skirt (Le Chateau, consignment), shoes (La Canadienne, consignment).

Winesday is a group of professional women friends who get together every 6 weeks or so. Everyone brings a bottle of wine (white or red) and something yummy to eat (usually something pretty healthy, although we do like our cheese and chocolate!), and we let our hair down and talk about our lives. Most of us have been married/in relationship for 10+ years, and our guys get together for Mansday, which is a music appreciation get-together at a different home).

We rotate our hosting, and last night we were at Jeannie's place. It was a blast (as always) - we had nine lovely women show up, and a bunch of us went in Jean's hot tub for a soak. So nice for my aching bod after Ulty!

I hope you had a great weekend!

  2. The silk skirt is a dream! And Winesday ought to be a the 31st or 32nd day of every month in the calendar year! What a great idea.

  3. That first top is one of my favorites of yours; the colors are so great, and so very Sheila. :) Loving the Circa flats too. Awesome color!

  4. Mansday? My husband would want that every day, especially now that we've moved to the same city as his closest friend. My brother-in-law has "Beer-and-Nintendo" nights, so my sister and I are trying to cook up something like "Winesday". Minus the drinking - something to do with her baby. Sigh, babies ruin all the fun (Ok, I feel bad, Miss E is my favourite person on earth).
We've finally starting to near fall temps, so I'm craving boots and scarves too!
Love the last incarnation of Saturday's outfit - the blue and purple just seem so fun!

  5. Hi Sheila - love your looks - you rock a pencil skirt like you own the franchise. Hey, that kitty keeps getting bigger -- what are you feeding him?? Have a great Monday.

  6. I love the Thursday blouse...we are back in triple digit temps today...so summer continues on..much to my dismay! You always look so good, Shelia!

  7. I still adore that asymm top. My favorite has got to be that purple skirt with the blue and stripes! Maybe the kitty is making me biased - but probably not.

Winesday sounds like so much fun. D has his "Mandays" infrequently because he doesn't get enough guy time otherwise. I need to find a good circle of ladies to have my own Winesday! (minus the wine, but plus the snacks!)

  8. Yep. Still gorgeous. And that floaty purple skirt is the total bomb on you. Love how its colour offsets your awesome hair, and how the shape hugs your curves just enough.

  9. It's good to see that someone is getting that sun !
It's probably ours ... as it has been raining cats and dogs here !
AS usual your Lorena top keeps on looking magnificent on you :)

  10. Terri, it's so fun - form your own group!

Rebecca, thank you - I agree! Winesday is awesome.

    Kristen, thank you!

Cara, ha, well, sounds like you definitely need a Winesday group! I'll be wearing boots and scarves soon, no doubt. Thank you, hon!

Patti, thank you so much. Vizzini gets really high quality canned food (as does Inigo).

Pam, thank you. Aw, you poor thing.

Megan, me too - I've never seen another like it. Thanks so much! I love Winesday, it's just such a fun tradition we've built.

A-Dubs, thank you and great to see you. I'll be sad when I have to put that skirt away.

Lorena, aw, that sucks, but we'll have rain soon enough. Ha, I know you love that top!
