Black and White Like Audi

I laughed when I saw this outfit that Audi had on the other day, because I had an outfit lined up this week that was similar - and here it is!
Same cream tux-style jacket, pinstriped skirt instead of pants, dark grey patterned top instead of a tie, and Oxford-style shoes. Great minds think alike! Ha!

But what, you may wonder am I looking at in the above photo?
It's a big fat kitty!

Anyway, the patterned top is new (about $15 consignment), but the skirt is the steal at $7 in a thrift store. I always feel everything on the racks (the feel of fabric is called the "hand") to help me search for quality garments. This skirt is 100% wool.
And if I may say so, I think it's a pretty killer skirt. It's Linda Allard for Ellen Tracy, and I would guess that it's mid-90s. It has a fairly high waist (it sits right at my belly button) but the sizing is current (it's a 6).

The stuff:
A good shot of the pattern of the top. I love Ann Taylor (and Loft) - I wish we had them in Canada. The necklace is one of Grandma J's.

Jacket (Club Monaco, consignment), cami (RW & Co.), top (Ann Taylor, consignment), skirt (Linda Allard for Ellen Tracy, thrifted), shoes (Fluevog), necklace (no markings, likely 1960s, Grandma J's), earrings (Aldo Accessories), ring (The Bay).

Out With a Bang! - Sky-High Red Heels

Well! This is my last week of work, and frankly, I have nothing to do. I played Free Cell for two hours this afternoon. Nothing like getting paid for doing nothing. Ha!

I decided that this week will be a theme week: Out With a Bang! I am going to wear a bunch of my most outrageous stuff...'cause when or where am I going to wear some of these things again?

Like these shoes:
Not exactly appropriate in most offices!

This is the second wear of the $3 polka dot top (first worn here, when I formally got notice that my job was over), the fourth wear of this $7 striped skirt (previously seen here), and also the fourth wear of the shoes (seen here).
I like the mix of the two black and white patterns. I also felt very "out there" with my semi-sheer black tights and these open shoes!

Inigo was not so impressed:
He's more like, "Feed me!"

The stuff:
Man, I love those heels!

I wore my classic black and white baubles:
A black rose for a (sort-of) black week.

Top (Majora, thrifted), camisole (Mexx), skirt (Linda Allard for Ellen Tracy, thrifted), shoes (Carvalo), bracelet (Le Chateau), earrings (Plum).

Red Legs and Rejects

Ah, it's late - by the time I get home from work (5:15ish), then do my WW meeting and get home (around 8pm), then play D&D (until about 11pm or later), I'm bagged. But I must blog!

And here it is! After wearing this all day, I've decided that I don't love the jacket or the skirt.
Someone's coming in for a rub!
So into the consignment pile they go. I'll have a good credit built up when I go down there next.

This jacket is so cool, but it is a smidge too small, and I feel like a hobo in it. This is only the second wear so my cost per wear is sitting at $30. Ouch. I still make purchasing mistakes.

Mr. Snugglypants meows for attention.
I liked the red legs, though.
Vizzini cuddles for about 10 seconds, then he launches himself out of my arms.
The skirt is just...a skirt. It's a nice quality wool, and the pinstripes are good, but eh, I have so many other cooler black skirts. However, this skirt balances out the jacket, because this is my 6th wear of it and it cost $7.00 originally, so I'm just over $1 per wear.

The stuff:
Inigo (top), Vizzini (bottom right) and red mousie (bottom left) investigate.
I took this picture when I got home tonight - my boys had missed me (the mousie, not so much).

Jacket (Dolcezza), sweater (Reitman's, thrifted), skirt (Linda Allard for Ellen Tracy, thrifted), shoes (Enzo Angiolini, thrifted), necklace (Melanie Lynne).

Lazy Monday - Peacock Blue

I hate Mondays. I need another day to rest up after the weekend. It doesn't help that it's trying to snow (NO!) and that I feel like I'm coming down with something.

Anyway, not terribly inspired with my clothes last night when picking out today's outfit:
Please ignore the toque-head and lack of lip colour. Fairly close to how I wore this jacket last time, but added the red shoes for contrast, and the "teeth" necklace for a bit of a rocker vibe. Christmas note: the "teeth" sound like sleighbells when I rattle them around.

The stuff:
I was more concerned with my workout clothes today and staying warm and dry. Arg, I hate winter!

Jacket (Kensie, consignment), blouse (French Connection, consignment), skirt (Linda Allard for Ellen Tracy, thrifted), shoes (Fluevog, gift from L), necklace (The Bay).

Back to School - "A" Student

I'm actually featuring all Oxford-style shoes this week, to go with my "back to school" theme. Of course, that includes these wicked Fluevogs:
Kitty matches!

Nothing new in this outfit; worn the cardigan many times (here, here, and here), and the skirt twice (here and here - getting good value on it, considering it was only $7).

I was an "A" student, by the way. I was on the honour roll in Junior High (grades 8-10), but not in High School (I still got As, though). I couldn't be bothered to work so hard just to get my name up there. I was really good at English, Algebra, French and Art all the way through school - back when we had "enriched" programs, I was in all of them. I also graduated "with distinction" on my BA, meaning that I had an A- average for my courses in university (I even got a couple of A+s that I'm really proud of).

Were you an academic student?

The stuff:
Glorious shoes! I've had these for over 5 years - they are one of the few shoes I have from when I was heavy. They've held up really well over all the wearings.

The jewelry:
My Shi Studios set that Mom gave me for Christmas a couple of years ago.

Cardigan (Future Paradise, consignment), shirt (Vero Moda), skirt (Linda Allard for Ellen Tracy, thrifted), shoes (Listen Up "Harlow", Fluevogs), belt (Jacob), necklace & earrings (Shi Studio, gift from Mom).

Tuesday WW Group - Plaid Prada Peeking Out

After last week, this week feels very anticlimactic: I'm still waiting to hear if I got the job (they called yesterday for my references, yay!), and there are only a few social things on the calendar.

Today, my Tuesday group:
Our theme was "Celebrating Success" and it was a really good meeting - my group has now lost over 100 lbs!

I love this creamy white jacket - it was a fabulous consignment find a few years ago - it's amazingly good quality and fit. I haven't worn it since the 3rd Wardrobe Challenge (it was in the dry-cleaning bag for several months).

I built this outfit around the blouse:
First worn here (ha, same shoes and belt), this is my $3.99 Prada. I love bragging about it!
The stuff:
L and I are going to Vancouver soon, and I'll be checking out Fluevog for another gem like the ones above. What will it be? Hmmmm...

Jacket (Club Monaco, consignment), blouse (Prada, thrifted), skirt (Linda Allard for Ellen Tracy, thrifted), belt (Plum), shoes (Listen Up, Audrey, Fluevog).
