3rd Capsule Wardrobe Challenge - Day 5

And here we are, the final day! The last item is worn: the new black zipper pencil skirt:
My usual Casual Friday look of layered long sleeve under graphic tee, plus the rocker chick look of the skirt (don't you just love the zippers all over it?), grey fishnets and the snakeskin wedges.

I wore the belt slung low on my hips, the long gold chain, the green bracelet and of course, the same earrings all week.

It was chilly this morning, so I added some permitted outerwear:
My suede jacket, fingerless gloves, soft scarf and my one bag (I use a knapsack Mon-Thurs for walking to and from work).

Here's the planning outfit:

3rd Capsule Wardrobe Challenge - Day 4

Please forgive the mess from the neck up today. I walked to and from work (40 min. each way), did 1/2 an hour of power walk, including 6 sets of stairs at lunch, and then ran/walked for 30 min. with L after work. I'm pooped! Most of my make-up is melted away...and my hair which looked so nice this morning is all witchy tonight.

Anyway, today is the return of the strapless dress and the cream jacket:
And the boots...and the third wearing of the patterned t-shirt. This time I did the jacket open, sort of a boyfriend blazer kind of look. I wore the gold chain wrapped around my wrist today, for the third option for it (plain/long, knotted and as a bracelet).

Fortunately, it was really warm this afternoon and I got to wear the outfit without the jacket:
I did purple tights! The tee has bits of green, amber and purple on it (and it's got jewels in those colours following the pattern all over the front), so that's where the green, mustard and purple colours were pulled from in this week's items.

I love that the back of the tee is also patterned (the bottom is too) - oops, my tag's up! I forgot to check when I got re-dressed (for the 3rd time today). Dang, I'm usually really good about checking.
It looks like lace kind of. And there, you can see the adorable little bows on the backs of my boots!

My planning outfit:
A good shot of the "tower of power" - some of my shoe collection!

3rd Capsule Wardrobe Challenge - Day 3

And welcome to Day 3, the day where the Wardrobe Challenge items start repeating themselves and I become deeply BORED with the clothes I have selected. Thankfully, it's also the day I wear some things for the last time!

Today's outfit is also fairly dressed down (for me! stop laughing).
I had meetings almost all day (this was the day with the lawyer, and also a contractor, and then we all went out for lunch), so no whackadoo colour combinations.

They still both gave me a look. After all, I did wear ALL the sparkly jewelry today:
This is the last appearance of both this sweater and this skirt. There will be another wearing of the shoes.

I actually had to cheat (slightly) and wear a same-colour camisole under this sweater. Fortunately, I remembered before I got dressed at work that the sweater is see-through. I counted it as underwear and insurance over not getting sued by the lawyer for sexually harassing him at work.

My planning photo:
I love the teal and green together. I can't get enough of that skirt.

Special bonus item: I laughed my ass off over these 1970 Weight Watchers' cards (and captions, watch the slideshow). Oh my, good times. Embrace mackereality!

3rd Capsule Wardrobe Challenge - Day 2

Today, I busted out the colour! Peacock blue and mustard...toned down with grey and brown accents.
This outfit carries the Inigo seal of approval.

Brown and grey together used to be one of those combinations I thought you "couldn't do". Wrong! You can pretty much do any colour mix, just takes a bit of experimentation.

I love this grey strapless dress:
It has pockets!

Today will mark the only appearance of these shoes this week - I could have made more outfits and therefore get to wear them more, but eh, I'll get lots of wear out them this spring. I love how they look with the teal tights (a wardrobe challenge freebie!).

Here's how I planned out the outfit:
Adding the mustard long-sleeved tee was a last-minute decision. Since I'll be wearing the sweater on its own once this week, I didn't want to do the same top look twice.

I thought I was very clever in knotting this long gold chain to give it a different look. I've never worn it like this before.

3rd Capsule Wardrobe Challenge - Day 1

And here we are at Day 1!

Today, I thought I was going to have to sit down with a lawyer, so I dressed conservatively: Okay, stop laughing! That's conservative for me.

I'm doing the patterned tee, the green lace skirt, the white jacket, the boots and...
... my accessory pieces are the belt, one of the necklaces, the bracelet and the earrings.

A close-up of the jewelry:
I just got my hair cut tonight, so forgive the helmet head. It will be back to its messy self tomorrow.

I doubled up the green bead/chain necklace to a two-strand - double duty out of one piece!

Although this outfit has quite a lot of sparkle (the skirt, the gems on the tee, the bracelet and earrings), the jacket, belt and boots knock those stars back down to earth. I kind of like the safari-meets-glam look of this.

I'm including this picture because this is how I planned my outfits for the week:
I put together a bunch of outfits and took pictures of them. I uploaded them and then decided what I'd wear on what day. You can see that I've included the bracelt on the sleeve of the jacket, the doubled-up necklace and I even wrapped the belt around the jacket so I'd remember how to wear it.

The 3rd Capsule Wardrobe Challenge - The Pieces

I'm so excited about this Wardrobe Challenge! Thank you so much to Jane at The Small Fabric of My Life for coralling everyone - if you're in it, drop me a comment and I'll check out your capsule wardrobe!

This my 3rd Wardrobe Challenge of 10 pieces of clothing/footwear and 5 accessories (links to the previous ones in the sidebar under "Fashion Stuff"). I have pretty much got my own formula down: 2-3 skirts, a dress, about 3 tops, 2-3 pairs of shoes/boots, 1 pair of earrings, 1 belt and a mix of bracelet/necklaces and/or a scarf.

I couldn't wait to wear my 3 new things I got at Winner's on Friday night...so I incorporated them into my 10 items! This threw everything into disarray, but what a challenge!

Now, without further ado...

The stuff:

1. Leather belt (Plum)
2. Vintage green bracelet (Mom's)
3. Vintage green bead necklace (Mom's)
4. Vintage crystal clip-on earrings (50s)
5. Gold chain (Grandma J's)

I like having at least one necklace that doubles as a bracelet - in this case, the gold chain.

The tops:

1. Teal thin sweater (Kersh)
2. Mustard tee (Mexx)
3. Graphic tee (Lisa International) - new item, $19.99 at Winners
4. White tux-style jacket (Club Monaco, consignment)

The dress:

5. Grey wool bubble skirt pinstriped strapless dress (Club Monaco, consignment)

The skirts:

6. Black pencil skirt with zipper details (Dahlia Collection) - new item, $29.99 at Winners
7. Green lace skirt (Alfred Sung, vintage)

And the shoes:

8. Faux snakeskine wedges (Aerosoles) - new item, $59.99, Winners
9. Brown/turquoise t-straps (Pink Studio)
10. Brown wedge boots (Outline, consignment)

This challenge's mix was particularly tricky for me, as I have a bunch of senior people in the office this week - I can't look too whackadoo!

I will also be doing a coat and bag on Friday, as well as a scarf/hat/gloves, if the weather doesn't cooperate. For the rest of the week, I will be walking to and from work, so I'll be wearing my usual workout clothes and carring a knapsack - which I'm not counting towards the challenge items, naturally.

Let the 3rd Capsule Wardrobe Challenge begin!
