Charlie Brown Snag-Monster

I have a bunch of my lovely literary ladies arriving for Book Club in about an hour, so gotta write fast, and then go prep the food.
I made jalapeno chicken corn chowder, which I'll be serving with focaccia bread, veggies and hummous, chips and tzatziki, followed by ice cream cones and lots of chocolate. Oh, and wine, of course! We're discussing Henry Rollins' "Black Coffee Blues", which was my pick. I hope everyone liked it. Here's a link to his page where he sells his books. After L and I saw him in January (here), I was so impressed that I wanted to share him with my group.

  • Dress - Talbots, thrifted; first worn here in June 2016 with blue accents
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog; last seen here in April with lavender and houndstooth
  • Coat (below) - Club Monaco, thrifted; last seen here last week over my mixed up dress

I only wore this dress once all last summer? That's a fashion crime! It was wonderful to wear again - I suspect it was too hot for most of last summer to wear it, but still. This tells me I have too many dresses.
No fear, though - this one's staying. I love the "Charlie Brown" zigzag pattern, but I'm always leery of very open-work fabrics (this one's very complicated lace) in case they snag on my keyboard tray or something else at work. It happens...but I was lucky today. No snagging.

Outerwear. Still too darned cold!
I had many compliments on the dress today from coworkers, and one of them asked me where I put the batteries, "because your shoes are so bright!" Har har, I work with comedians...

The stuff:
Deja shoe! I wore the yellow version of these yesterday!

Silver and orange bling:
I like clean lines in my jewelry.

  • Cuff - thrifted
  • Bangle - Glee
  • Earrings - vintage expo
  • Ring - Soul Flower

Off to get ready!

  1. What a fun dress! I love the orange accessories, particularly the earrings' bold contrast with your hair.

  2. You look so elegant in this dress my dear. And the orange shoes, well they are the most perfect pair of orange shoes I've ever seen. One day when I'm very rich I'll start to collect Fluevogs too, but in the meantime I'll just drool over yours.

  7. Hello Sheila. I have to say I love the colors on your face. Your purple hair and colorful glasses and earrings immediately brought a smile to my face. I adore this zig zag dress, although it seems more Missoni rather than Charlie Brown .
Whatever you call it , it is fabulous. I also love the peep toe sandals they are very beautiful. How cool to meet the author of a book that you loved reading. Have fun at your book group. Sending love. Kisses, Elle

    1. Thank you, Elle! I wear purple-toned eye make-up as my "neutral", ha ha! Yes, very Missoni, you're right. It's such a pretty piece. I didn't actually meet Henry Rollins - just saw him on tour.

  8. Our weather has been all over the place here too! It's been a chilly and rainy long weekend. I like the zigzag-y pattern on the dress, and the bright accessories (including your hair and glasses) play off the black and white nicely.
