Matching Magenta Tassels

Another busy and frigid day! The snow hasn't melted and everything is very icy and slippy. One must be careful.
Those are patterned trouser socks, by the way.

  • Top - Hommage, consignment; last worn here in October with purple Fluevogs
  • Culottes - Jones New York, vintage, thrifted; last seen here in October in a very conservative outfit
  • Shoes - Coclico; purchased here on the weekend in Seattle for $188 US, which turned out to be about $250 Canadian (yikes, the exchange rate sucks right now)
  • Coat (below) - Apparence, vintage 80s, thrifted

I'd planned to go bare legged, but haa-- excuse my laughing, like I would go bare legs in this weather. NO. The trouser socks were okay - they have pink, but not the right pink. Anyway, moving along.

These are culottes.
I must demonstrate.

The top remains fluffy and gets more fluffy every time I wear it.
I wore a pink cami underneath it for extra warmth.

Outerwear:
The Unsafe Polar bear is still my best bet when walking in the dark to and from work. My pink angora/wool gloves and scarf (thrifted) because, pink. And my fur chapeau.

Since I chopped my head off, here's a better look.
Real fur, don't know what kind, but this is vintage. I had forgotten about it, since it still had the thrift store tag on it. It was $14.50. It's been sitting in with my hats for so long the moths had gotten to it, so I made quite a mess in the bathroom this morning, giving it a good once over and shaking all the dead hair out of it. Vizzini is doing a very poor job at moth control.

The stuff:
Everyone loved these shoes today, both at work and WW. "They match your hair, and your earrings!" was the frequent comment. People, that's not a coincidence. I don't wear things without a little thought put into them. For goodness' sake, my shoes and my earrings both have tassels! That doesn't happen by accident.

Black and magenta bling:
I was pleased that all my accessories have gold as the metal. Little things like that appeal to me.

  • Leather/chain bracelet - local
  • Cuff - Trifari, vintage 60s, thrifted
  • Tassel earrings, consignment
  • Ring - Frances Jewelers, Dad's, early 60s

  2. Love your magenta accessories! I seem to be having a "moment" with magenta after buying a magenta bag, haha. It's such a fun colour, makes me smile when I wear it, even if I don't coordinate it as well as you do here :)

  5. It can be hard to be chic and warm. You've so done that with this outfit. That's precision outfit planning and execution!

  7. Magenta - such a good colour and such a fabulous word. The shoes are exquisite and I love the magenta tassels earrings. It's a beautiful outfit, Sheila and looks fab on you; love the polar bear coat. I now believe you're wearing culottes with that brilliant bent knees pose!

Vizzini is a slacker - tell him I said he needs to start catching moths and leave your damn laces alone...

  8. Hahaha I love that tassels comment. Heck don't people realise how much thought and planning goes into our perfect outfits? That close up shot of you really shows off your smooth skin. Are you a big beauty routine gal? Or just have good genes? Whatever, you look positively radiant x

    1. I know, right?? I knew you would get it - it takes effort to look effortless!

I have awful skin - years of bad acne and scars. I wash my face with some Aveeno wash at night, Dove soap in the morning and my Oil of Olay with SPF 15 every day. And whacks of make-up!
