Jun 15th - Outfit #15 - This or That - Yellow and Neutrals

Woo! Happy Friday! This has felt like a long week, so I am so glad it's over. Although blog-wise, it's been a lot of fun. A big THANK YOU to Megan Mae and Keely for hosting another amazingly fun fashion challenge! Today's "This or That: Trend" was pastel or neon. Yikes. Being in a neutrals-only capsule for June means I have to add colour via accessories. I'm not so much into the neon thing (I did it in the mid-80s, been there, done that, don't really care to repeat it), but I thought I could pull some pastels into the mix via accessories. I like that the "new pastels" are a little more vibrant than the baby-pale versions of the past. More saturated hues means they're more flattering on more skin tones, am I right?

Anyhoo, here we go.

I'm happy to have my blonde streak nice and big again!

I have only one more "fresh" item in this capsule that I haven't worn, now that I've finally worn this Tommy Hilfiger shirt. Stay tuned next week, as I'll definitely be including this last mystery item in an outfit!

I got this shirt not too long ago, back in October. It was last worn here in November. It was only $2.00 (yes, really!) in a thrift store, so my cost per wear is down to less than a dollar! That's awesome!

I'm wearing a shell-style cami under it (shell-style meaning the yellow top isn't t-shirt or poly knit, but is a woven fabric) to bring in some yellow as my pastel shade. The cami doesn't count as a capsule item.

These cream sail pants make another appearance (last seen here on Day 1).

I added my fruit bag and yellow silk scarf again to add another pop of pale yellow.

I'm wearing my pearlized cream flats again (last worn here, 2nd outfit, along with the same bag/scarf).

Someone came in for a sniff

For accessories, I'm wearing a gold leaf on a silver chain, gold hoop earrings, my Wendy B ring and the same silver snake ring I wore yesterday. Viva mixed metals!

Jun 14th - Outfit #14 - This or That - Black and Leopard

Another busy day - I just got back from getting my hair cut (and my blonde streak refreshed!), and I'm hungry and the wine is a-calling!

Today's "This or That: Trend" was coloured bottoms or printed bottoms. As I don't have any colour in June's capsule, I had to go for a printed bottom - and duh, of course I did leopard!

Another "fresh" item in this capsule, i.e. not worn yet item, is this brown satin blouse. I've had this blouse for oh, gosh, about 4 years. I think I last wore it here - there are links in that post going back to August 2009, but I'm pretty sure I've had it longer.

This is my second wear of my leopard skirt (last seen here).

It's a bit hard to see, but I'm wearing my black stomacher over the blouse, with a belt over that. I loved the brown blouse with the leopard skirt...but I didn't put any brown shoes in this capsule, so I had to pull in black (I'm also wearing a black camisole underneath the blouse) to go with the black shoes (last worn here).

Then I felt like I needed a lot of silver. Shiny, shiny!

I feel like a cowboy when I wear this belt! I added the feather and the snake ring. "There's a snake in my boot!"

Jun 13th - Outfit #13 - This or That - Springy Florals

I just got home from the dentist, so I'm not in the chattiest mood (arg, buses that wander through residential areas, you are the bane of my existence!). Let's just do the clothes.

The "This or That: Trends" for today are floral or tribal. I don't have many things in my wardrobe that would be tribal (maybe my tiki dress??), and I certainly don't have anything in my 30-item capsule that is even close. I went with floral.

I didn't have any florals in my capsule items, so I added them via accessories.

This is my cream tux jacket (last worn here with these same shoes), and of course, the fabulous mushroom skirt (last seen here, 2nd outfit). I'm wearing this skirt so much this month, it's down to $20 per wear! I'm also pleased to report that it washed beautifully in the machine (and I threw it in the dryer on delicate).

And on to the floral! I did flowers through 5 different accessories!

It's flower power time!

I had a lot of compliments from people on this outfit, from co-workers to people on the street. It surprised me somewhat. This skirt draws a lot of comments; people like maxi skirts!

But back to the accessories. Here, I'm showing off my shoes (yay, Fluevogs!) and my floral knee-highs:

These were a nice little pop of floral.

Here are the other four items:

My pink and green silk Smoking Lily obi (one of the prints on it is of a floral colour-by-numbers), this lovely hand-rolled silk scarf (this is the first wear of it - it was $7 and is vintage), my bigass white fake peony (a Le Chateau find from about a year ago), and my leather rose cuff that I got on consignment a couple of years ago.

I wore the scarf just knotted around my neck. I considered wearing it in my hair, but with being upside-down in the dental chair, that wasn't going to fly.

Jun 12th - Outfit #12 - This or That - Platforms and Knuckledusters

Today's "This or That: Trends" are platforms or flats. I could have worn flats, but my platforms that are in this month's capsule were better suited to today's outfit.

I last wore the shoes on the weekend here (last outfit, scroll waaaaay down). If you're going to do heels, might as well make them as comfy as possible.

This top is a "fresh" item in the capsule - I last wore it here in December (2nd outfit). I first got it in August 2010 (here) - it was thrifted for $8.00, and I've worn it 5 times now, so I'm getting excellent cost per wear out of it. It's by Talbot's and is a very nice thick jersey - there's even a snap at the boobular area to keep it from gaping. I love that kind of detail.

I'm wearing a mustard yellow cami under this (not part of the capsule) to tie into the turquoise and yellow jewelry that I got the other night (picture here of the ring and necklace). The earrings are these ones (picture).

This skirt was last seen here last Tuesday, which means my WW group tonight will see the same skirt. Oh, the horror!

I noticed that Wendy Brandes did an article about loads of rings. These are mine today:

From the left: my vintage gold ring, my 40th birthday gold/diamond/emerald ring, lapis lazuli and silver ring by Wendy Brandes, cheapy turquoise stone ring, my gold wedding ring (handmade on Saltspring Island).

I usually wear at least 4 rings a day. All the gold ones are worn every day - I rarely take them off.

Jun 11th - Outfit #11 - This or That - Loud and Bold

Ah, Monday, scourge of the week! Thank goodness we have the "This or That: Trends" Fashion Challenge to stimulate our sluggish brains! I did Megan and Keely's "This or That" challenge last year in October as well (click here to see all my outfits from then). Thanks for doing this, ladies!

Today's "This or That" is solid brights or bold print. Because I never say no to a challenge, I did both.

This is the first wear this month of this black dress, last worn here in May 2011 (yikes) with the exact same tights and shoes! Hey, when you have a good outfit, it's okay to repeat it! I got a lot of "Woo!" reactions to the pink tights, including one coworker who accused me of cheating on my neutrals month. Accessories don't count, Gord!

I've had this dress since I first lost weight 5 years ago. I figured I needed a good plain black dress, so I bought it off the sale rack at the local Esprit store (now sadly gone...boo) for around $40. Thing is: I hardly ever wear a basic black dress. I put it in the June capsule at the last minute because I needed a black bottom for all the tops I'd picked out.

On the second wear of the leopard cardigan, first worn here.

It shed like mad all over the dress. I could have made an angora rabbit out of the fur my lint brush removed.

The stuff:

I last wore the shoes here. I threw in my purple belt, pink and purple bracelet and my new pink and purple earrings to help pull it all together.
