Shoe Shine #27

Shoe Shine is on!
Get your kicks by showing your kicks!
This time around, I'm sharing a pair of shoes that make my feet happy - flats!
I love the shiny gold/silver mix of these Born ballet flats. Born shoes tend to have lots of padding (a good thing), and although they can be a little "granola" for my taste, I have 3 pairs of Born shoes that I've collected in my shopping expeditions, and have paid a fraction of what they cost new.

As I get older and my body gets creakier, I'm gravitating more and more towards flat(ter) shoes.
I could live in these for a long time.

What are your go-to shoes? Are they flat? Metallic?

Shoe Shine #26

Shoe Shine is on!
Get your kicks by showing your kicks!
These are one of my oldest pairs of shoes. I think I've had them for at least 5 years. I bought them new on clearance at the Bay for about $49.00, and to this day, I kick myself for not buying the same shoes in a cream and brown snakeskin. They're by Guess.
They are the classic black pump, with the perfect toe, the perfect shape, the perfect heel. Well, that's my opinion! Add the red leather lining and I'm in love.
Look at that gorgeous heel. They are still comfortable for me to wear to work (and I've worn them a LOT over the years - you can see the thrashing that the heel has taken, and the patent leather is getting a bit worn. I've never found another pair of black shoes as good as this, but somehow I keep looking.

What's your classic shoe? Heel? Flat? Is it black?

Shoe Shine #25

Me, I get my kicks out of shoes with 'tude, as in attitude, dude. Like these wicked cool shoes by John Fluevog.
They are the Esoteric Temptations Odette (as in the black swan from Swan Lake).

I love them dearly. The metallic blue shading up to black, the skull buckles, the Fluevogian "swordfish" toe, the square-and-flare heel, the ankle cup. Swoon!
I've only worn them once since I got them (here) but you can bet it won't be long till I wear them again. They whisper dark secrets to me...

Did any of your shoes start out as a wicked temptation? Share them with us!

I'm totally repeating my shoes from yesterday!
I love these Kope Tiam Coffee shoes by John Fluevog. I found them under a shelf at Gravity Pope, a famous shoe store in Vancouver on our anniversary trip (here) in 2011. They are a size 10, a full size bigger than what I normally wear, but they fit me perfectly. They were on clearance for $99.00.
I like my shoes to have heart, don't you?

Shoe Shine #23

Only a couple of Shoe Shines left before I pack away my boots! I have to squeeze in some of my very most favourites!

Like these wool slouch boots.
These are the Prepare Guide boots in wool (yes, really) by Fluevog. They are fully lined in leather, but I love that the outside are fuzzy and soft. And dig that funky heel!
Because of the hidden platform, these are just like wearing heels...but without any actual pitch to hurt my feet! I adore them.

Do you own any shoes with secrets?

Shoe Shine #22

Get your kicks by showing your kicks!
These shoes are new in my shoe wardrobe (shoedrobe? shwardrobe??), and I've only worn them once - so recently, as of the writing of this post, I haven't even posted the pictures! Edit: here's the outfit from Friday!
They are purple and green iridescent leather. One of my coworkers told me that in car paint, this colour is called "trout". Welcome, Trout Shoes, to my shwardrobe.

I love the menswear styling of these, although one person said they looked like bowling shoes. Pshaw, I say!
They are by Miista and were made in Germany.

I'm developing a love for menswear shoes - do you have any in your shwardrobe?

Shoe Shine #21

Let's see, I think I should share some red shoes for Valentine's Day...
How about these sweet red riding boots? These are the Adrian Agnes boot by Fluevog. I've had them for about 3 years. They are still quite stiff, but comfortable - I don't wear them that often (they are in my fall/winter wardrobe only) so they haven't been worn in fully yet. But I expect that they will get softer over their lifetime.

I like that the harness is fully removable.
You actually have to take it off to get the boots on!

I have a deep fondness for red shoes - is there a shoe colour you find yourself drawn to again and again? Share with us!

Boo-yah! Gimme some shoes!

Following the Mini Qtees of last Shoe Shine, these are my other Minis, the Babycakes.
I know, pretty sweet, aren't they? I bought them online from Fluevog, having never seen them in person, but swooning over them. We had a Steampunk convention to go to (check it out here), so already knowing my size from the Qtees, I ordered them.

I don't buy much online, but I'm sure happy I bought these!

Woo-ee! Let's talk about shoes!

As you can see by the button in my sidebar, I am going to the 40+ Blogger Meet-Up in Vancouver this summer - I am both excited and terrified to meet so many amazing women! I have to plan what I'm wearing early...but no doubt about it, I will be wearing a pair of Fluevogs!
These are the Q-Tee Minis, a family of Fluevogs that has been around forever. I bought these on consignment for $99.00 (Fluevogs are one of the few brands that retain or even increase in value over the years), when I bought them here in 2011. The Mini family started in 2001 and they still sell them (link here 'cause I love).

They are spectacularly comfortable, cushy and above all, they have got funk.
Show us your funky shoes! What pair rocks your world?

Shoe Shine #18

Shoe Shine is on!
Get your kicks by showing your kicks!
Happy New Year!

The first pair of shoes I'm sharing for 2015 are also the shoes I wore as the clock struck midnight.
I love a metallic shoe! They go with anything, match gold and silver, look pretty and are a wardrobe essential. When I was in my early 20s, my best friend Janet had a pair of pointy-toed bronze-y silvery flats and she wore them with everything. I thought they were the height of effortless style.

I've had these shoes for a few years - they were first worn here in December 2010, and were purchased at She She Shoes on a $40 sale (they were regular $174.95). They're Jeffrey Campbell.
The bows, the cute heel (not too high!), the easy on/off zipper...that lovely metallic leather!

Unfortunately, I am a little hard on my shoes...
A few scrapes, dings and the shiny is wearing off in places. I should probably take a look around for metallic polish! However, I don't mind too much - they still have lots of wear in them!

And what about you, my friends? Show us the shoes that have graced your feet so far this year!

Shoe Shine #17

Shoe Shine is on!

I'm featuring the most awesome boots in the world.
Told you.

These are the LA Malibu boots by John Fluevog. I've had them for a couple of years; they were a purchase from L on our annual anniversary Pilgrimage to Fluevog in Vancouver in 2013.
I'm 5'10" in these. That's a real 6" heel. But don't be fooled - these are actually walkable...for a party. And since we are in party season, and we have a party to go to this weekend, I'll be wearing these really soon.

Will you be busting out the fancy stuff this season? Show us your party shoes!

This time I'm putting on my red shoes:
I always think of David Bowie's "Let's Dance" when I wear red shoes: "Put on your red shoes and dance the blues."

These are by Marc and they are heaven to wear.
I like the chunky design and the sturdy strap over the vamp. And who doesn't love red shoes? I have a kazillion pairs of red shoes and boots! I think I'm addicted.

What about you? Do you have a shoe addiction? Black shoes? Shoes with buckles? Show us!

Shoe Shine #14

Shoe Shine is on!
Get your kicks by showing your kicks!
My shoes this time are...boots!
Yes, these are yet another pair of Fluevogs (I have a lot of them), the Libby Smith Bellevilles. I bought them (or technically, L bought them for me) on one of our trips to Vancouver, back in 2011. I first wore them here in March 2011.

What do I love about these?
The fun colourway (is that the word that the cool fashion kids use?) of purple, caramel and rust-coloured buttons. The great shape and heel - it's no coincidence that I've had 3 pairs of the Bellevilles over the years. The comfort! These are all-day boots, for sure.

Do you have a favourite pair of boots? It is because they're unusual or serviceable or comfortable, or...? Show us! (Shoes welcome too; let's not be exclusionary!).

Shoe Shine #13

Shoe Shine is on!
Get your kicks by showing your kicks!
Shine on, you crazy diamonds!

My shoes this time 'round are always referred to as the Best Shoes Ever.
Pretty sweet, aren't they? They have everything: 4 colours (burgundy, grey, white, navy blue), a cunning little hidden platform, a bow, and wonderful purple lining.

And they're comfy!
These are one of my many pairs of Poetic Licence shoes that I've had over the years. They were the first shoes I bought with the first gift certificate L gave me to She She Shoes. I last wore them here in February (they are a fall/winter shoe in my wardrobe) and first wore them here in 2008 where I initially dubbed them the Best Shoes Ever. In between, I've worn them at least 12-15 times. Good costs per wear!

They are starting to look dated a bit to me now, as the platform style of shoe eases out of its time in the sun (for now), but I'll never get rid of these. If I ever own a shoe museum (it could happen!), these would get place of honour.

What shoes would you put in a museum? Would it be because of the style or your memories/associations of them? Show us!

Shoe Shine #12

Shoe Shine is on!
Get your kicks by showing your kicks!
Let yourself shine!

I chose my beautiful green "elf" shoes for this edition of Shoe Shine.
They are called the Half-Truth Tanya, and yes, they are by Fluevog.

They're a good example of the erratic sizing in shoes (not just Fluevogs, although they are crazy erratic). I usually wear a size 9 or 9.5 (Euro 40), but these are size 10 and are perfect.

I have pretty narrow feet and long toes, with a narrow heel, and these just work beautifully on me. I like that the top straps are adjustable over the foot.
These have gotten softer and more comfortable since I got them in March. They've also gone on sale at Fluevog (I really want the purple ones!). Go on... I know you want to go look at them here - my review is there. (Seriously, no kickbacks. I link 'cause I love).

Have you ever bought a duplicate shoe in another colour? I don't think I ever have.
Would you?

Sheila's Shoe Shine #11

Shoe Shine is on!
Get your kicks by showing your kicks!
It's time to shine - Shoe Shine, that is!

I'm featuring a pair of shoes that I haven't worn in a while. I look at them, I don't wear them, and then when I do, I'm all like, "Wow, these are such awesome shoes! Why don't I wear them more?"
They are a green-y grey colour (more green than in these pictures), are leather and are by Hilary Radley. I got them at a consignment store that I used to take my clothes to for trade-in. The store carried (and still carries) a lot of cheap junk, to be frank. When I saw these in the window, they stuck out like a sore thumb. They were rather more ladylike than most of the stock around them.

I don't remember how much they were, but I probably used store credit on them.
I love the little rhinestone buckle on top and the printed darker green-y grey snakeskin texture trim. They are surprisingly comfortable for having a heel that high! That's what you get with good-quality shoes: comfort and a balanced heel.

I will actually have worn these by the time this post goes up (I write the Shoe Shine posts and schedule them to post on time, clever me)!

Sheila's Shoe Shine #10

Shoe Shine is on!
Get your kicks by showing your kicks!
Woot woot! It's Shoe Shine time!

I'm sharing one of my favourite designer finds. I'm not all about the name, but it's a handy shortcut oftentimes for quality. I adore Vivienne Westwood and will likely never own the "real thing", like a studio item, but these are close, right?

They are plastic and they smell. Seriously, like candy. I think it's on purpose.
I found these at Verve consignment store downtown a few years ago for $43.00; here's where I first wore them, and here's the last time.

I really love how the back of the shoe cups the heel, and the sexy shape of them. I've worn them for work and for parties. For me, these are the perfect example of loving everything in your wardrobe.
And they're way more comfortable than they look.

Okay, your turn! Show us a pair of shoes that you love!
