Shades of Silk Koi Fish Scales

The office was full of people today so I deliberately pulled out one of my favourite looks I'd assembled in my free time over the past week. This was based around the new-to-me base pink sweater.
I love a really rich pink and I was delighted to see how well it went with this skirt, which has only been worn once, just after I thrifted it in July.

  • Blazer - Helmut Lang, thrifted; last seen here in October 2024 with beading and orange (and the same shoes!)
  • Silk/cashmere top - Etcetera, thrifted; purchased here for $14.95
  • Silk skirt - Strawberry Jill, vintage 00s, thrifted; first worn here in July 2024 with sandals and turquoise bits
  • Shoes - Ayers Wonders, Fluevog; last seen here in October 2024 with the same blazer

Colleague Vizz said the skirt reminded him of koi fish. And since I already have a Dragon Skirt (here) by this same brand...I shall name this one the Koi Skirt.
I had a lovely chat with coworker David about "It doesn't have to match, it just has to go," as he was wearing a pair of tri-colour Fluevogs and was wondering what to wear with them. I pointed out that my skirt does not actually have pink or olive green in it. The "scales" (which are circled of shantung silk, all individually sewn) are iridescent in shades of red, gold and emerald green.

I enjoyed all the colours in this, and it felt appropriate as I took the office Christmas tree down today.  I did shed the jacket as I hauled boxes around.
I loved this top, and showed off the buttons to Jessica. "You can remove it!" But like I would - it's so cool with that piece hanging down.

This gorgeous made in the USA Helmut Lang blazer is still one I reach for.
I often wear it with the olive shoes. Did you notice my red tights?

Outerwear!
My puffer kept me warm.

I did not deploy the hood but I could have used a hat.
Brrr, it's feeling cold out.

Accoutrements:
Such a classy scarf.

  • Silk scarf - Pierre Balmain, vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Wool gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
I hate dealing with the buckles when I wear these - I have to do them up to take the picture! But they are very comfortable.

Mixed bling:
I wore the silver on one hand, gold on the other. I liked how the necklace looked with the scarf.

  • Necklace/earrings - Plum, c. 2011
  • Red stone cuff - thrifted; purchased here for $3.95
  • Eel skin bird bracelet - vintage, consignment
  • Silver/green stone ring - thrifted
  • Silver/red stone ring - consignment
  • Brass ring - vintage 70s, vintage mall
  • Amber/gold ant brooch - Russian, consignment

  3. Not only did I notice the red tights but also that you changed your glasses to go with the pinks. :-) This is an outfit for continuing cheer and keeping blahs at bay! I like the blending of silver and gold bracelets, and particularly appreciate the necklace and matching earrings - partially because they match and partially for the style.
I wasn't sure which new-to-you pink top you'd be wearing; am looking forward to seeing the other pink top - the one where L and I do not see eye to eye. ;-)
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. You have a good eye for detail, Laurie! The necklace and earrings are actually crystals and gold - they were from a local chain boutique that I used to shop at frequently from 2004-2010 when it went out of business. They always carried local jewelry and I picked up this set on clearance.
