Celadon Ruffles, New Skirt and Pops of Blue

Just a plain ol' office outfit for you today, although "plain" is rarely a word you'd associate with me!

Getting in a wearing of this new-to-me skirt, by pairing it up with the suit jacket that matches last Friday's skirt
I noticed while doing some mental health outfit planning that this acid yellow bright green celadon! jacket went well with the yellowish-gold woven bits in the skirt.

  • Jacket - Danier Leather, vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here with the matching skirt in April
  • Top - Ted Baker, thrifted; last seen here in my final winter outfit in March
  • Skirt - Massimo Dutti, thrifted; purchased here for $14.95
  • Shoes - Modern Living Slant, Fluevog; last worn here in May for Mother's Day with a tutu!

It doesn't have to match - it just has to go!
I put a navy blue sparkly t-shirt style top with the skirt, just as a neutral for all the colours in the skirt, but I needed another piece to help tie it together.
It's a better colour match in person than in the pics.

The bulky padded shoulders are a little awkward.
But the pockets in the skirt made me happy.

Without the jacket.
I didn't take it off at all in real life.

A blue mask to add to my other pops of blue. I only wore the jacket buttoned while outside.
You can see I'm really enjoying the pockets in my new skirt!

  • Mask - Lazy Susan's

Incognito - I added my blue leopard scarf for a bit of warmth on the way to work.
It's very chilly in the mornings, so I'll be starting to get my coats out again soon, not to mention my gloves.

  • Scarf - thrifted

The stuff:
These shoes are so fun, but are tricky to match. Two-tone blue is not as easy as you might think!

Blue bling:
I wore this necklace flipped to the blue stone side this time. Versatility!

  • Necklace - Stella & Dot, thrifted
  • Silicone bracelet - Materia Design, thrifted
  • Snakeskin bracelet - mine in the 80s, donated, thrifted again
  • Silver/crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery, Florence, Italy
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Gold hoop earrings - 5th anniversary gift from L
  • Belt - Danier Leather

  2. Such a gorgeous, vibrant, bold, chic, and thoroughly fantastic outfit + colour palette. I'm more than a wee bit in love with the marriage of chartreuse, blue and black here. I could see that same colour scheme working awesomely for the decor of a room - if not a whole house, were one so inclined.

    1. Thank you, Autumn, but you may want to adjust your monitor, as I'm not wearing any black unless you count what's on the necklace! The top is navy blue.

  4. Absolutely fabulous, my dear! That skirt is so fun. I think it is the start of many, many flashbacks to come! Adding the scarf was a brilliant idea. But, I am curious. How do you keep track of when you’ve worn what? Excel spreadsheet? Telephone app (I know that’s a no)? Clothing (was going to say closet…nope) fairy? It doesn’t matter as I enjoy your flashbacks and how you use a piece in a totally different way.

    1. Eh, maybe, Marsha - I will not put that pressure on it just yet. I love the fabric but the skirt itself wasn't really ringing my bell.

I keep track in that bulleted section right below the stair pic - the "last seen here" and "last worn here" links. I've been doing those since I started - I just use the blog search function to find the last time I wore something and link back to it. Over the years, it creates a chain right back to when I bought items. I'm so thankful I had the foresight to do this at the beginning.

  5. What a great styling. The celadon jacket is such a statement item. It looks great paired with that fabulous striped skirt...isn't it great it has pockets ? The blue shoes and mask match the blue in the skirt perfectly.

    P.S. love the statement necklace.

    1. Thank you so much, Ivana! I'm not sure if I'll keep the celadon suiting - it's a little on the girly side for me, but I did enjoy this outfit. The shoes and mask are the best part, IMO.

  6. Yay for skirts with pockets! I very much enjoyed seeing this outfit, Sheila, especially on my first day back at the office. The celadon jacket look fabulous teamed with your new skirt, and I'm loving the pops of blue provided by your sparkly navy top, mask and shoes. Oh, those shoes! I'm swooning, although I'm hearing you on their being tricky to match. Loving your "stuff" too, especially the squishy bangle (one of my favourites!) and that stunning necklace! xxx

    1. I love having pockets, Ann! You totally get that, I know. :) Thank you so much - aw, back to the office! I enjoyed this blue and green mix. The shoes are fabulous, but very tricky to match those shades. The squishy bangle is fun to play with. Love that necklace - still boggled it was only $7.95!

  8. While I would frequently describe my style as plain I'd never use that for you! I love this outfit and how well everything works together with the metallics and the blues. It's so colourful and well coordinated and fun and puts my plain work outfits to shame for sure! I always get so much inspiration from you. I've been trying to be a little less matchy-matchy and wear more colours that go together but don't match recently and I'm liking it, you're very inspiring!

    1. You're not plain either, Mica! Thank you so much - it really doesn't come out right in pictures, but all these colours worked so well together. Nothing wrong with matchy, but experimenting is the way to go! Aw, thanks, my dear! You inspire me right back!

  10. You are clever, spotting the greenish bits in the skirt and wearing that lovely jacket with it.
The heels on those shoes are incredibly cool! xxx

    1. I felt very clever, Vix, especially since those bits are actually more of a yellowy gold than green - they totally didn't match.

I know, Fluevogs are the coolest shoes on the planet!

  13. The skirt and the shoes are a match made in heaven.
I have just bought a short leather jacket in the same colour as yours, but mine is not celadon, it is definitely lime.
