Badass in a Bowtie

Happy Spring Equinox! I'm still eking out my fall/winter wardrobe for another 10 days, but I'm also playing with some of my new-to-me items, like today's trousers.
I've always loved menswear looks on women (I used to wear my dad's clothes in the 80s!), and it's a style I've done over the whole life of my blog.

  • Blazer - Vivienne Westwood Red Label, vintage, thrifted; last worn here in January in a secret Trek look
  • White shirt - no label, thrifted; last seen here under Etro in January
  • Trousers - Talbots, thrifted; purchased here for $12.50
  • Shoes - Marc; last worn here in December 2017 with purple plaid
  • Sleeveless coat - Only, thrifted; last seen here last week

I loved how I felt in this outfit. This wonderful Westwood blazer fits me so perfectly.
The pants were awesome to wear, but I wish they had pockets on the hips!

I wore this to the dentist at the end of the day to get my chipped front tooth fixed.
 The assistant loved my shoes.

This outfit actually looked even more badass with my white floral Doc Martens.
The floppy bow got a lot of love, especially from my female colleagues.

Outerwear - now that it's slightly warmer, this sleeveless coat is perfect over a blazer.
I felt very chic, as you can tell from my goofy pose.

  • Wool gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
Clomp, clomp, these shoes are badass. And comfy!

Classy bling:
My other hematite ring broke this morning. Oh, well, I only paid $1.00 for it!

  • Silk bow-tie - vintage, Harry Rosen
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Hematite ring - thrifted

Do you ever rock a menswear look?

  1. Love this! The shoes are great. You really know how to do this "looking great" thing! And, menswear never looked cuter. I have lost some weight, 60 pounds, and I've been out thrifting, but not finding much. I do like the menswear look. I love how Katherine Hepburn did it in the 40's. She was a groundbreaker. She dared to be herself, comfortable and happy, didn't care what people thought. Trousers with a billowy white blouse, men's shoes and red lips. That look, I would love to recreate it.

  2. The most menswear I get is my converse, ha! I'm more of a dresses and skirts kind of person, which is probably me going to the other extreme after being a tomboy for most of my schooling, haha!

This is such a great outfit on you, I can see why the boy got a lot of love, it's the perfect piece with your outfit :)

I love menswear but for some reason I don't wear it. I have two ties but have not worn a tie in years!

  7. Your outfit is Menswear love! And each piece is quite cool on its own merits. I always feel comfortably strong in menswear, which includes wearing a tie of my husband’s., and usually wear at least 2-3 such outfits during the school year.
