Spring here is blustery, with clouds, sun, rain, wind, often all at the same time. I think I have a bit of spring in my outfit: flowers, maxi skirt, velvet. It's all goin' on!
While I adored the skirt today, this is it for this velvet top.- Top - no label, thrifted; first worn here in December 2017 for tree decorating
- Skirt - LA Hearts, thrifted; purchased here for $6.95
- Shoes - Queen of Prussia Louise, Fluevog; last seen here for the VFF Gala's plaideriffic party in February
- Coat (below) - Danier Leather; last worn here earlier this month
I loved the rich silke velvet and how the red of the top went with the brighter red of the satin top underneath. But I didn't like how it gaped open, and the overall shape of it...it just wasn't me. Off to the giveaway pile! I originally paid $17.99 for it, so $9.00 per wear. Not the greatest but I've spent more than that on chocolate.
The skirt - loved it! Super swooshy! It billowed and swirled with with every step, although I did wheel it into my chair wheels at work a few times. I had to tuck it up carefully when at my desk (and in the bathroom!).
I know I'm going to wear this a lot on the weekends come summer - I'll probably wear it to the Ulti field on Saturdays (our season is starting again soon!). It's fine for the office on a more casual day. No one's around this week or next - spring break!
Although not a full skirt, it's cut on the bias to give it a lot of movement.
I also like that it's lined in black (as you can see), which makes the pattern look really rich, and not too pastel or washed out.
Outerwear - leather weather!
The skirt is really long, so I rolled the waistband a few times so that I wouldn't step on it walking to and from work.
The stuff:
These shoes are shockingly comfortable. I unpacked boxes and carried things around in them all day. I do pack them away for winter, so this is the last wearing of them until fall. Bye, shoes!
Brass bling:
Brass and bronze accessories also feel very autumnal to me, so I pack them away too.
- Earrings - Plum
- Feather ring - Fossil, thrifted
- Spinner ring - Twang & Pearl
While you didn't like the top I do think it's lovely with your skirt! Such a nice colour combination. I'm looking forward to wearing my maxi skirts a bit more as it cools off here - it's been the summer of shorts so far, haha!
ReplyDeleteI love the colour with the skirt, but this particular top just doesn't work for me. Glad you're coming into the cooler months and can wear your maxis again!
DeleteOh wow look at those two different fabrics together... the drape on that velvet top is to die for.
ReplyDeleteIt's really pretty, but that draping drove me nuts!
DeleteYour swooshy maxi is fabulous and, being short myself, I have a few maxis I have to roll up too, as I can't be bothered to shorten them ... The drapey velvet top looks lovely, but I can understand your annoyance with it. I do hate having to constantly adjust my clothes. Serious love for the shoes, even if my back hurts by just looking at them. I can't even contemplate heels at the moment. xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ann! I love maxis, but hate when they drag. Any item of clothing that requires adjustment on me does not last long. The shoes - really! - are super-comfy! You have a Fluevog store opening in Amsterdam!
DeleteThat skirt is fabulously swooshy and fun and looks lovely with the velvet top even if it was a pest to wear! I have to chop my extra long hems off, I live in fear of breaking my dodgy hip! xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Vix! Ack, you chop them?? Wow, that is commitment, but better than breaking your hip!
DeleteThe skirt is gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI adore the swooshy skirt, but can understand that the gaping top just has to go.
ReplyDeleteAnna x
It did!
DeleteI can't wear long skirts to work as they get caught in my chair wheels and I've ripped one when it got stuck in one of the wheels!
ReplyDeleteI have done that! I have to be so careful when I wear one!
